The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 170: Chapter 170: I Am Informing You

Empress Dowager Wang watched as the couple from Uncle’s Mansion sat as if on pins and needles, and finally, in a rare display of magnanimity, got straight to the point.

The sooner the threat is over, no, the sooner things are set straight and they get sent away, the less annoying they are to watch.

”No more pleasantries, I’ve summoned you to the palace; you must know the reason. It’s about the child of the seventh branch, the sixth one. I have consulted a master about his birthdate, and it is most fitting and auspicious for him to be adopted by the fourth branch as the heir.”

The Marquis of Uncle’s Mansion said, ”Lady, have you considered this thoroughly? As for Yongping, I’ve learned a bit about him from his uncle, and it’s said that he’s a bit dishonest and has a stubborn temper. However, his cousin, Yongqing, is very well-mannered.”

”Indeed, Lady, adoption by the fourth branch is a significant matter, with the primary importance on continuing the lineage. Yongping was born prematurely and has had a troubled fate. As your humble servant, I feel sorry for him.” Madam of Uncle’s Mansion dabbed at her eye corners with a handkerchief, sniffing as she spoke: ”If Lady has compassion for this child, I’m willing to take him to Uncle’s Mansion and personally raise him as my own grandson. I urge Lady to deliberate carefully.”

As she wiped, tears streamed down in torrents.

Empress Dowager Wang watched, clicking her tongue in secret admiration. They truly came prepared, well equipped. Was that handkerchief smeared with chili juice or ginger?

Madam of Uncle’s Mansion continued to cry: ”Lady, planting the branches and leaves for the fourth branch requires a healthy heir. We all hope for the fourth branch to flourish with descendants. I ask Lady to think thrice.”

As she spoke, she peeked at Empress Dowager Wang from the side of her handkerchief.

Isn’t the main goal of adopting an heir all about procreation? She couldn’t believe the Empress Dowager wouldn’t be tempted.

The Marquis of Uncle’s Mansion was also quite pleased with his wife’s performance.

Empress Dowager Wang had seen enough, but no matter what they said, it was useless.

”Finished speaking? You were called here not for a discussion, but to be informed that Wan Yongping will be the adopted heir of the fourth branch. Oh, the Emperor has already granted him a new name, Wan Yicheng. Later, the family genealogy should be adjusted by the Marquis of Uncle’s Mansion.”

The Marquis of Uncle’s Mansion was stunned. So fast? And the Emperor has even bestowed a name?

”The heir that I’ve decided upon has the Emperor’s approval, who also says this child should succeed the title at Duke Cheng’en Mansion. I am tired and do not wish to investigate who is suitable or not suitable, so it shall be him.” Empress Dowager Wang looked at the Marquis of Uncle’s Mansion and said, ”The heir I personally selected is only this one, and only him. If he is present, then Duke Cheng’en Mansion exists; if he is absent, Duke Cheng’en Mansion will not exist.”

The Marquis of Uncle’s Mansion’s face changed: ”Lady...”

”Do you understand my meaning? Besides Wan Yicheng, I will not allow anyone else to inherit the fourth branch. Duke Cheng’en Mansion has been empty for so many years, it doesn’t matter if it’s empty forever.”

The madam of Uncle’s Mansion forgot to cry. What does this mean? It means that insist on that brat?

What does it mean? It’s a warning to them not to touch that child. If they touch him, there will be no others, and the Empress Dowager will take her anger out on them.

”For the Wang Family to bear two titles is indeed a great honor for the clan, even though Duke Cheng’en is a lower hereditary title, the same as the Marquis of Uncle’s Mansion, but how many families have gained such titles for simply bearing a good daughter like the Wang Family? By the way, when it comes to your son, it’s a Viscount now, isn’t it?”

The Marquis of Uncle’s Mansion wished to laugh in reply but found his throat as if blocked, unable to utter a single word.

”Wan Yicheng will inherit as Marquis Cheng’en; whether he will look after Uncle’s Mansion in the future depends on the bonds you form. If Marquis Cheng’en proves outstanding in the future, and can change this marquis title to an inheritable one, the Wang Family will indeed have great fortune. What does the Uncle’s Mansion think?”
