The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 169: Chapter 169: I Feel Extremely Wronged for Being Snatched Away from Me

Zhong Qunbo felt like he was barking up the wrong tree. To push a successor to the Empress Dowager, he had schemed for twenty years, knelt and licked his face like a grandson. Just as the next tile was about to give him a win, the player before him snatched the tile away.

How could he not be angry, not be exasperated, not feel wronged?

He must have been truly unlucky.

But no matter how unlucky, when the Empress Dowager summons you, you have to roll over willingly.

”Later on, just talk about old times with her,” Zhong Qunbo said to his wife beside him. ”Have you prepared the handkerchief?”

Madam Liu, Zhong Qunbo’s wife, squeezed the handkerchief in her hand and nodded, ”Everything is ready.”

Why prepare it? Naturally, it’s for acting. With a wipe of the handkerchief, tears will stream down. That’s right, it’s a handkerchief dabbed with ginger juice.

Zhong Qunbo felt reassured, still pondering how to speak, catching a glimpse of his young grandson with his peripheral vision. He pulled him aside and lightly scolded, ”Don’t stare around. Later, when you meet Ping Ge’er from your sixth uncle’s family, just speak good words about him.”

Wang Yongnian resisted rolling his eyes, sincerely saying, ”Grandfather, I understand.”

Zhong Qunbo wanted to add more instructions, but saw Lian Qiao coming out, smiling lightly as she led them inside.

They quickly straightened their expressions, following respectfully behind Lian Qiao.

The Empress Dowager sat on the phoenix throne, watching as Zhong Qunbo and his group approached. Seeing the young grandson by his side, she raised an eyebrow, not surprised in the least.

Still haven’t given up, have you?

”This humble servant greets the Empress Dowager. Wishing the Empress Dowager golden wellbeing.”

Empress Dowager Wang didn’t make him rise, looking at Zhong Qunbo with his bloated face and belly. Why did he feel so disgusted? Wouldn’t he look better if he were thinner?

Indeed, our Empress Dowager is truly a connoisseur of handsome faces.

Lian Qiao coughed lightly.

The Empress Dowager touched the teacup and said, ”Rise, be seated.”

Zhong Qunbo knelt for a moment, already sweating on his forehead, and shakily stood to sit on the stool.

It’s tough on such a small stool, which wasn’t even half the size of Zhong Qunbo’s posterior.

”It’s been some time since I’ve entered the palace to greet the Lady. Is the Lady well?” Zhong Qunbo asked with a full-faced smile.

Empress Dowager Wang retorted, ”Not well? Could I still sit here and converse with you if I weren’t?”

Zhong Qunbo choked, ”...”

Can we even chat happily?

Madam Zhong Qunbo quickly chimed in, smiling apologetically, ”The Lady has a thousand-piece noble body, naturally invulnerable to all illnesses. By the way, Lady, this is our family’s young grandson, named Yongnian. Nian Ge’er, quickly kowtow to your great aunt, the Empress Dowager.”

Wang Yongnian promptly moved forward, knelt before the Empress Dowager with a thud, and knocked several firm kowtows, ”Nian’er kowtows to Aunt, wishing Aunt all prosperity and long life, good health.”

The sound of the kowtows seemed to resonate with the Empress Dowager’s heart, beating rhythmically.

”Rise. Lian Qiao, help the boy up, don’t let him ruin his head at such a young age.” Empress Dowager Wang said.

Zhong Qunbo and his wife’s expressions were, ”...”

Lian Qiao helped Wang Yongnian up.

”Have a Palace Attendant take him to play in the garden.” The Empress Dowager glanced at Wang Yongnian’s slightly bruised and swelled forehead and pressed her lips together, saying, ”Apply some medicated oil on his forehead so as not to ruin his good face. Next time, don’t be so foolish, regardless of who taught you to knock your head so hard, aren’t you afraid of becoming a fool? These are solid jadeite bricks.”

Both Zhong Qunbo and his wife’s faces turned a bit awkward. Is Empress Dowager Wang professional at face-slapping today?
