Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

Standing before the surveillance monitor, the image displayed on the massive screen left everyone—including Professor Zhou—momentarily stunned.

”This is…”

Professor Zhou stared at the location where Chen Mo had disappeared. Above it, at some unknown point in time, an enormous mass of thunderclouds had formed—so vast that they nearly covered the entirety of Hongjingpo Forest.

Terrifying arcs of lightning flickered and intertwined within the clouds. The apocalyptic scene made one’s heart tremble just by looking at it.

”If I remember correctly,” Hu Chengliang voiced his confusion, ”before Chen Mo disappeared, this area was under clear skies, wasn’t it?”

Officer Wang nodded beside him.

”That’s right. I’ve already confirmed it with the meteorological bureau—conditions like this shouldn’t be happening in Hongjingpo today.”

Although weather forecasts could be wrong at times, they were generally reliable.

Professor Zhou fixed his gaze on the thunderclouds on the screen.

”Actually, I was already puzzled earlier—why Comrade Xiao Mo’s livestream briefly lost signal after entering that other space, only to inexplicably regain it afterward. My initial judgment was that he might have traveled through the other space to a different location in our world, and since he was still on this planet, the signal returned. But now, that may not be the case.”

”Xiao Wang, can you have them zoom in on this area?”

Hearing this, Officer Wang nodded and immediately instructed someone to adjust the display.

Soon enough, Hu Chengliang and the others noticed that something seemed to be concealed within the thunderclouds—something resembling the corner of a structure.

”This can’t be…”

Having watched the livestream, both Hu Chengliang and the man in the white shirt reacted instantly.

Professor Zhou nodded.

”That’s right. This should be the ruins Comrade Xiao Mo is currently in. And if nothing unexpected has occurred, then these thunderclouds were created by some kind of being.”

”A Pokémon?”

Hu Chengliang asked in a tone filled with disbelief.

Professor Zhou gave a solemn nod but did not speak.

Officer Wang, however, couldn’t hold back.

”That’s impossible! How could a Pokémon possibly—”

Professor Zhou cut him off directly.

”Why would it be impossible? How much do we really understand about Pokémon at this point? Can you guarantee there are no Pokémon that powerful among them?”

”And my judgment isn’t baseless. The answer lies within the ruins Comrade Xiao Mo is in.”

Hearing this, Officer Wang didn’t argue further. Instead, he had the livestream feed displayed on the large screen.

He urgently wanted to know whether this was real—because if it was, the consequences would be unimaginable.

At the same time—

As the camera angle shifted in the livestream, countless viewers also saw the enormous mural depicting Zekrom. The overwhelming visual impact left many of them deeply shaken.

[Zekrom? Is that also a Pokémon?]

[Holy crap, it looks so cool—this might be the coolest Pokémon I’ve ever seen.]

[Isn’t this mural a bit exaggerated? Mo-bao, are you sure this is still a Pokémon?]

[Yeah, judging by how it’s depicted, wouldn’t a single Zekrom be able to destroy an entire city?]

Chen Mo glanced at the barrage of comments and spoke slowly.

”Your guesses aren’t wrong. If nothing unexpected has occurred, Zekrom does indeed possess the power to easily destroy a modern city.”

The moment those words were spoken, the chat exploded.

Since the Pokémon invasion began, humanity had suffered losses—but overall, people across the world still retained a certain degree of pride.

After all, many terrifying weapons developed through modern warfare had yet to be deployed against Pokémon.

In most people’s minds, if humanity were to go all out in a full-scale war against Pokémon, the losses might be severe—but the final victor would surely still be mankind.

But now, hearing Chen Mo say that a single Pokémon could unleash power capable of destroying an entire modern city—the shock to their worldview was immense.

”This isn’t alarmism on my part,” Chen Mo said with a bitter smile.

”Originally, I planned to wait until people had a solid understanding of ordinary Pokémon before introducing legendary Pokémon like Zekrom. But now, it seems some things have to be explained in advance.”

”Many of you who’ve been watching the livestream for a while should already understand that there are vast differences between Pokémon species—and even within the same species, there can be significant gaps. Take Pidgeotto and its kin, for example. From what we’ve seen, after evolving, Pidgeotto’s level of life far exceeds that of its own kind.”

”But in this world, there exists a category of Pokémon that simply doesn’t play by those rules. Their life level towers far above ordinary Pokémon. Even if Pidgeotto were to eventually evolve into Pidgeot, it would still struggle to reach their level—because many of these Pokémon have existed since the birth of the world itself. They are known as… Legendary Pokémon.”

”And Zekrom is one of them—moreover, it’s among the stronger ones.”

After hearing this explanation, countless viewers were left utterly incredulous.

[Legendary Pokémon… Mo-bao, is what you’re saying really true?]

[Honestly, I want to doubt it—but so far, Mo-bao’s explanations haven’t really been wrong. At most, he mixed up Pidgeotto and Pidgey once.]

[Impossible. I don’t believe it. If that’s true, how are humans supposed to defeat Pokémon like that?]

[Why does it always have to be about defeating them? Though I admit I’m skeptical about what Mo-bao said today too.]

[But listen—Mo-bao said Zekrom isn’t even the strongest kind. Seriously, just from the mural alone, I can’t imagine what Pokémon could be stronger than Zekrom.]

[Probably exaggerating. It’s just a mural, after all…]

The chat buzzed with debate.

But to be honest, at this moment, Chen Mo finally understood something.

Why, during Pidgeotto’s battle with Fearow, Fearow had suddenly been afflicted with paralysis—why that unknown power, which even the system couldn’t identify, had manifested.

It might very well have been influenced by Zekrom, with its dual Dragon and Electric attributes.

Looks like his Pidgeotto had quite the stroke of fortune.

Chen Mo quietly glanced at Pidgeotto—but then noticed something off.

Pidgeotto’s gaze was locked firmly on the mural, sharp and unyielding, its entire body radiating a defiant, competitive aura.

In that instant, Chen Mo understood.

Pidgeotto seemed to be competing with Zekrom itself—spurred on by what Chen Mo had just said, determined to prove that it wasn’t inferior to the legendary Pokémon in the mural.

Very good.

This bird… has chosen a bold path.
