Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

”Pichu…”

Looking at the small Pidgey lying gravely injured after protecting it, Pichu’s face was filled with guilt.

”This isn’t your fault,” Chen Mo said softly as he held the small Pidgey, now peacefully asleep. ”It’s because I, as your Trainer, failed to judge the opponent’s intentions in time.”

”We still have a long way to grow,” Chen Mo continued gently. ”Let’s keep working hard together.”

”Pichu.”

Pichu nodded heavily.

After finishing the treatment on the small Pidgey, the human and Pokémon turned their attention to the sky, where Pidgeotto and Fearow were locked in fierce combat.

Thanks to the accumulation from before its evolution, Pidgeotto now clearly possessed the strength to contend with Fearow. The two clashed in a prolonged aerial pursuit, darting and circling through the sky.

Unlike when it had faced Pichu, tactics such as cries and Leer still worked against Pidgeotto—but their effects were far less pronounced. In fact, trying to use them recklessly might even expose openings for Pidgeotto to counterattack. As a result, Fearow had effectively lost its ability to suppress Pidgeotto at range.

Realizing this, Pidgeotto deliberately tried to keep its distance, aiming to decide the battle through long-range attacks.

The storm rose once more.

Pidgeotto beat its wings rapidly. Sand and dust surged upward, forming a small tornado right in the clearing.

[It’s Tornado!]

[That power—compared to when it was still Pidgey, it’s several times stronger!]

[Of course. It’s Pidgeotto now—it’s no longer that weak Pidgey in front of Fearow.]

[There’s hope, guys. There really is hope!]

[Go, Pidgeotto!]

As the violent tornado took shape, the crushing wind pressure clearly affected Fearow. Even its body was dragged uncontrollably toward the center of the storm.

Dust filled the air.

Chen Mo raised an arm to shield himself from the blowing sand, using his aura perception to closely observe the battle.

But at that moment—

Through the penetrating vision of aura, Chen Mo suddenly noticed something alarming.

Fearow, which had been pulled into the tornado, vanished.

Looking up again—

Fearow burst out of the tornado by sheer brute force, now hovering directly above Pidgeotto.

And Pidgeotto hadn’t noticed yet.

”Pidgeotto, above you!” Chen Mo shouted.

Responding instantly, Pidgeotto looked up—Fearow’s sharp beak was already right in front of it.

”Pi!”

With a beautiful aerial twist, Fearow’s Peck missed its mark.

But it wasn’t over yet.

Using the momentum from its rotation, Fearow’s entire body lit up as it surged forward.

”It’s Aerial Ace!” Chen Mo reacted immediately.

”Pidgeotto, climb fast—create distance!”

Another command. And once again, Pidgeotto chose to trust without reservation, shooting straight upward at full speed.

But then Chen Mo realized the problem.

Borrowing the force of Aerial Ace, Fearow had fully locked onto Pidgeotto’s position. Combined with its naturally superior speed, the distance between them was rapidly closing.

There was no other choice.

”Pidgeotto—use Wing Attack and intercept its Aerial Ace!”

Chen Mo shouted.

Pidgeotto spun around. Brilliant light flared from its wings as it charged straight at Fearow.

Of course—

Stopping Aerial Ace head-on was impossible. This was a desperate, last-resort decision—a gamble of injury for injury.

”Pi-di!”

”Skree!”

The two massive birds collided. The shockwave from the tremendous energy made Chen Mo squint, his heart tightening with tension.

Pidgeotto…

”Skreeee!”

A piercing cry rang out first as Fearow burst through the smoke, shooting even higher into the sky.

A moment later, Pidgeotto followed, refusing to yield.

Both were clearly injured—but Pidgeotto’s wounds were worse. Even after evolving, its previous injuries hadn’t fully healed.

This was bad.

Chen Mo’s brow furrowed deeply.

But just then—

Fearow’s body suddenly jerked in an unnatural twitch midair.

With his sharp eyesight, Chen Mo clearly saw arcs of electricity crackling faintly around Fearow’s body.

Activating [Eye of Detection], the result was unmistakable—

Paralysis had appeared in Fearow’s status.

Chen Mo was utterly baffled.

Both sides had been exchanging Flying-type moves. Why would Fearow suddenly be paralyzed?

The only one capable of inflicting paralysis here was Pichu—but both of Pichu’s Electric attacks earlier had clearly missed.

There was no time to think further.

Sensing its own abnormal condition, Fearow decided to end the battle quickly.

Forcing its body to endure the discomfort, it flapped its wings and unleashed its strongest move—Drill Peck, diving straight toward Pidgeotto.

With the speed gained from its descent, Fearow reached its absolute maximum velocity.

However—

In that critical instant—

The paralysis struck again, causing Fearow’s movements to stall for a split second.

Seizing the opportunity, Chen Mo knew—

It was time to end this battle.

”Pidgeotto—use your new move, Aerial Ace!”

As a newly mastered technique, Aerial Ace ranked among Pidgeotto’s strongest moves. Its guaranteed-hit nature in the games now felt like a powerful buff in reality, pushing Pidgeotto’s focus and physical performance to their absolute peak.

”Skreee!”

”Pi-di!!!”

Two streaks of light rushed toward each other in the sky.

Chen Mo, Pichu, and the countless viewers watching the livestream—no one dared blink.

BOOM!!!

The collision triggered a violent explosion of energy, thick smoke billowing outward.

[So tense—who won?!]

[Pidgeotto! It has to be Pidgeotto!]

[Is this what Pokémon battles are like? This is insane—so intense!]

[Mo-bao’s command was absolutely crucial. No matter the result, I’ll always love Mo-bao. I swear I love this man and his Pokémon so much.]

[Please, I’ll quit… bad habits for a month if Pidgeotto wins!]

[I’ll trade my roommate’s ten years of singleness for Pidgeotto’s victory!]

[Look—something’s falling!]

From within the smoke, a figure plummeted helplessly downward.

Just as everyone’s nerves were stretched to the breaking point—

Chen Mo, already knowing the outcome, slowly curved his lips into a smile.

So it was you who won.

Pidgeotto.
