Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

These days, it wasn’t strange for transmigrators to each come with a system. But Chen Mo never imagined that his system would be this unreliable.

It actually wanted him to leave the city, head to places where Pokémon gathered in large numbers, and popularize Pokémon knowledge among the people of this world—so as to ease the ever-escalating hostility between humans and Pokémon.

Damn it!

I just made up my mind to lie flat and enjoy a good life!

”Thankfully, this system isn’t one of those especially scummy ones,” Chen Mo muttered. ”It doesn’t really force me to do anything. Otherwise, that would be real trouble.”

After hesitating for a moment, Chen Mo decided to stick with his original plan of lying low.

According to the system, as long as he popularized some basic Pokémon knowledge to the public, he could earn Knowledge Points, which could be used to buy all kinds of items from the system shop.

Chen Mo took a look. Most of them were items from the Pokémon world—things like evolution stones, as well as some technology he couldn’t quite understand.

”I wonder… if I popularize Pokémon knowledge online, will the system still give me Knowledge Points?”

Just as Chen Mo was pondering this, a loud commotion suddenly erupted outside the hospital ward.

Frowning, Chen Mo slipped on his slippers and walked out.

In the corridor, a middle-aged man covered in blood lay on a transfer gurney, groaning in pain. Several nurses and orderlies with grim expressions were escorting him, clearly rushing him toward the emergency room.

”Look at those claw marks—most likely the work of a monster,” someone with sharp eyes said, instantly sparking a wave of discussion.

”Ah… monsters again.”

”Those damn beasts. Ever since they came to this world, we haven’t had a single peaceful day.”

”Tell me about it. The other day I was just walking along the road when a pig-nosed demon suddenly charged out of the woods by the roadside and started beating me up. If it weren’t for some friends nearby helping me out, I’d have died right there.”

”F*cking hell, all monsters should die. Because of them, our company’s post–New Year plans were forced to stop.”

”I’ve figured it out by now. On this planet, either humans survive, or monsters do. One side has to die.”

”Once I recover, I’m enlisting. I heard the country’s recruiting soldiers recently, all to drive these monsters out.”

”And it’s not just our country. I heard a small nation overseas was completely wiped out by monsters. Tons of refugees fled. Every country is recruiting and preparing for war—it looks like they’re going to have a final showdown with the monsters.”

…

The discussions grew more and more heated. Standing to the side and listening, Chen Mo felt an ever-deepening chill creep into his heart.

If things continued like this, could this world really develop into the kind of human–Pokémon coexistence he’d seen in the anime?

Probably… not.

The nurses quickly shut down the impromptu discussion, but having witnessed this small snapshot of the era, Chen Mo found it impossible to calm his mind.

A long time passed.

Staring at the system interface floating before his eyes, Chen Mo clenched his fists tightly. Yet his expression softened, as if he had finally set something down—replaced by a hint of resolve.

—

The next morning.

Perhaps because the original owner had been an outdoor streamer, Chen Mo actually managed to find a full outdoor travel kit at home. It looked practically brand new, barely used—perfectly meeting his needs and saving him from having to buy new gear online.

After adjusting the camera equipment for streaming, Chen Mo looked at the vast, lush forest ahead of him. His emotions were a mix of anxiety and excitement.

Maybe it was the influence of those ”with great power comes great responsibility” motivational quotes from his previous life.

Or maybe it was the restless ambition for fame and profit stirring deep inside him.

Either way, Chen Mo made his choice.

He decided to accept the system’s request and use the original owner’s identity as an outdoor streamer to popularize basic Pokémon knowledge to the people of this world.

Perhaps because Chen Mo had shifted from passive to proactive, the system even gifted him a Beginner’s Gift Pack.

”Aura… be with me…”

As he released the power obtained from the gift pack and closed his eyes, Chen Mo felt as though he had suddenly activated a god’s-eye view. Everything within a twenty-meter radius was laid bare before him—trees and rocks offered no obstruction to his perception.

But it didn’t last long.

A wave of dizziness quickly washed over him. Chen Mo hastily withdrew the power and shook his head helplessly.

Compared to how it was portrayed in the anime, his ability was clearly a defective version.

Still, something was better than nothing. Even a crippled version of aura power was extremely useful.

”About time.”

Chen Mo glanced at his phone, then opened Bilibili, preparing to start the livestream.

Even though he was just a small streamer with fewer than a hundred thousand followers, the stream announcement he’d posted last night had already garnered over ten thousand reservations. The comment section was buzzing.

”Idiot.”

”People these days will do anything for clout.”

”Brother Mo, don’t go! Did you forget what happened during the last stream? Monsters are way too dangerous. Let’s just do a normal outdoor stream in the city.”

”Boring. I want to see blood everywhere!”

”A real man follows through—anyone who chickens out is a grandson!”

”Damn it, I’m fired up!”

”Brother Mo, please come back. As long as you don’t go, I’ll donate a Little TV.”

Chen Mo scanned through the comments and let out a soft sigh.

Ignoring the personal attacks, it wasn’t hard to see how most ordinary people viewed Pokémon.

One phrase summed it up perfectly:

Avoid them like the plague.

But that also meant one thing—

Popularizing Pokémon knowledge was urgently necessary.

”Hello everyone, it’s ten in the morning. Welcome to my livestream.”

”I’m sure you can all see the forest in front of us. That’s right—this is Hongjing Slope Forest Park, which appeared in my previous stream. It’s one of the largest forests near Anping City. In a moment, I’ll be heading deep inside and taking everyone to get to know these little newcomers to our world.”

Chen Mo shifted slightly to the side.

In the livestream, as the camera panned over, the silent, secluded forest created an atmosphere that instantly set off the viewers who had been waiting in front of their screens.

[Holy sh*t, this young man… he’s seriously got guts.]

[Came here after hearing about it.]

[Didn’t this streamer almost get killed by a monster last time? And he still dares to explore the forest again? Is he suicidal?]

[My second uncle is a forest ranger. After monsters showed up, he quit overnight. The boss begged him to stay, but he refused. Didn’t expect there’d actually be people lining up to die these days.]

[Brother Mo, Mom’s scared. Hurry back, I’ll donate a Little TV.]

[Fast-forward! Fast-forward to the streamer’s second hospital visit!]
