Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

In just a few short minutes, the livestream’s real-time viewership climbed past a thousand.

Compared to Chen Mo’s follower count—still under a hundred thousand—it was obvious that someone had helped spread the word about this stream.

Although he didn’t know that person’s motive, more viewers meant more Knowledge Points, so why wouldn’t he welcome it?

After selectively replying to a few concerned messages from longtime viewers, Chen Mo began heading deeper into the dense forest.

”Hongjing Slope Forest Park is huge. For this outdoor stream, I plan to start with a preliminary exploration of the outer area. If we run into any monsters along the way, I’ll give everyone some simple explanations.”

With just that opening remark, the entire livestream exploded.

[Popularize? Streamer, are you serious?]

[Are you stupid or what—do you really have a death wish?]

[Did the monster attack last time mess up your brain? No normal person would do something like this.]

[You say ’popularize’ and suddenly you’re an expert? Monsters have only been here half a year—officials still haven’t figured them out, and you dare come out and teach us? Who knows if you’re just talking nonsense. Anyway, I don’t believe it.]

[I believe you, Mo-baby! Mommy loves you! (Throws her arms open and blows you a kiss~)”]

[Medical diagnosis: terminal brain damage.]

With just a glance, it was obvious that the overwhelming majority of comments were negative. Even some of Chen Mo’s longtime fans couldn’t help but voice their doubts.

After all, monsters had only arrived in this world six months ago. Even the top biological experts were still struggling to understand them. For an ordinary streamer to claim he could popularize monster knowledge—how could that not sound suspicious?

That was true.

Although Chen Mo recognized most Pokémon and could name them, claiming he could explain any Pokémon in detail was obviously unrealistic.

When watching anime or playing games in his previous life, he’d never bothered to deliberately memorize the background settings of every Pokémon.

However—

The Beginner’s Gift Pack hadn’t just given Chen Mo a crippled version of aura power. It had also granted him a very special skill.

[Eye of Detection]

Just as the name implied, it allowed him to view detailed information about any Pokémon he encountered.

This was one of the main reasons Chen Mo dared to popularize Pokémon knowledge in this way. With this skill, he was essentially a walking, talking human Pokédex.

Ignoring the ugly barrage of comments, Chen Mo continued along the path into the forest.

Before Pokémon descended upon this world, Hongjing Slope Forest Park had been one of Anping City’s more famous tourist attractions. Many places still bore signs of artificial maintenance.

But now, after long neglect, weeds had overgrown the paths. From deep within the dark forest came the occasional chirping of insects, making viewers subconsciously wonder whether a monster might suddenly burst into the frame. For a moment, many even forgot to keep mocking the stream.

Not long after, conspicuous warning signs began appearing in front of Chen Mo.

Each one conveyed a single, simple message:

[Beware of Monsters!]

The blood-red lettering sent chills down one’s spine.

Some of the kinder viewers immediately began urging him to stop.

[Streamer, this forest really looks dangerous. Maybe you should head back.]

[There’s really no need for this. Even if you get famous from it, is it worth risking your life?]

[This is terrifying! Ever since the monsters came, I keep dreaming about cities being overrun and humans being eaten alive. Streamer, I admit it—you’re brave. Now please come back.]

[Streamer, don’t go any farther!]

Seemingly understanding the viewers’ concern at last, Chen Mo—who had been walking steadily forward—suddenly stopped, causing many viewers to feel a surge of hope.

But the very next second, his words left them stunned.

”I think I’ve found a monster.”

[Where?!]

[Holy sh*t, no way?]

[Liar. I don’t see anything.]

Chen Mo glanced at the comments, then slightly adjusted the camera angle.

This time—

The viewers finally saw it. In a patch of grass not far ahead, something appeared to be moving, the blades of grass swaying along with it.

Many viewers instantly tensed up.

Even though the grass patch wasn’t large, even a very small monster—like a rat demon (Rattata)—could easily kill a human with its steel-piercing incisors.

[Run, streamer! What are you standing there for—waiting to die?!]

[Confirmed scammer. It’s just some moving grass and he claims he found a monster. What if it’s just a normal Blue Star animal?]

[Wait, how can the streamer be sure there’s a monster in there? Did he turn cheats on or something?]

[A little cheating doesn’t count as cheating.]

[Actually, since the monster invasion, normal Blue Star animals haven’t been doing well. According to reports, some species are close to extinction. In the wild now, especially in forests, you’re more likely to run into a monster than a normal animal.]

[Only half a year, and the world outside the city has already changed this much…]

Naturally, Chen Mo wasn’t about to say that he’d confirmed the Pokémon’s presence using aura-based perception.

Lowering his steps, he carefully approached, then slowly parted the grass with his hand.

A green, cocoon-like creature gradually came into view.

”Pretty lucky,” Chen Mo said with a smile at the camera. ”This is a Metapod.”

The instant Metapod appeared, the livestream’s barrage surged.

[Redefining ’pretty lucky.’]

[This little thing is a monster too?]

[It really does look like a cocoon, but did anyone notice? It has eyes—and it moves. Definitely not a Blue Star creature. It’s a monster for sure!]

[So the streamer really found a monster… but is this okay? Aren’t you afraid it’ll suddenly attack you?]

[Madman!]

[I’m more curious—did the streamer make up the name ’Metapod’ himself?]

At that very moment, perhaps startled by Chen Mo’s movements, the Metapod suddenly emitted a dazzling light.

At the same time, the livestream descended into total chaos.

[Barrage shield! Barrage shield! Barrage shield!]

[Holy sh*t, run, streamer! This thing really is a monster—it’s about to blow up!]

[It’s over. The streamer’s dead.]

[He’s still smiling at a time like this… yeah, he’s definitely gone crazy. I can’t watch anymore.]

[I already called the police, but it’s probably too late. Lighting incense now.]
