Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

✨ Special Bonus Chapter

”This place is…”

Pidgeotto finally landed atop a cliff. Standing on the high slope, Chen Mo looked out, and the full panorama of Hongjingpo Forest spread out before his eyes.

”Beautiful.”

Without a doubt, this was an exceptional scenic viewpoint. Yet as Chen Mo turned his gaze to Pidgeotto, he didn’t believe it had brought him and Pichu here for scenery alone.

”Pidgeotto, what did you bring me here for?”

”Bii—”

Pidgeotto let out a clear cry, then flew straight to the very edge of the cliff and stopped there.

Perplexed, Chen Mo immediately followed.

”Bibi!”

Pidgeotto spread its wings and called out to Chen Mo, then demonstratively extended one wing and lightly touched the space beyond the cliff’s edge.

[What’s this doing? Some kind of mysterious ritual of the Pidgey line?]

[How would we know? Even Mo-bao looks confused. If the expert doesn’t know, how could we?]

[No matter what, Pidgeotto wouldn’t harm Mo-bao or Pichu.]

[Wait—what’s happening?!]

On camera—

The space Pidgeotto touched suddenly rippled, like the surface of water disturbed by a stone.

The bizarre sight of waves spreading through thin air left Chen Mo completely stunned.

”What on earth is this…?”

Even with aura power enhancing his perception, the space appeared perfectly normal.

Only the naked eye could see the ripples.

Just as Chen Mo stood there at a loss, something black suddenly protruded from within the distortion, instantly putting him on guard.

Soon—

The strange black object fully emerged from the ripples. Then another followed. Their bodies were pitch-black, each with a single eye. Their overall forms resembled ancient, mysterious symbols—like relics from a time before written language took shape.

The two eerie little beings floated in the air. The moment they saw Pidgeotto, they circled around it several times, occasionally emitting odd sounds, as if greeting it. Pidgeotto responded with soft ”bibi” cries.

At this, the chat completely exploded.

[Holy crap, what is that? Is it a Pokémon too?!]

[It looks so weird… but if you look closely, doesn’t it resemble the letters C and P?]

[Does it? I don’t think so. It’s just really strange.]

[What the hell is this? Mo-bao, don’t just stand there—use that god-tier knowledge of yours and explain already!]

[Don’t tell me even Mo-bao doesn’t recognize this thing?!]

Chen Mo glanced at the comments, then shifted his gaze back to the two beings hovering beside Pidgeotto.

”Yes, this is indeed a kind of Pokémon—and an extremely mysterious one at that. Our understanding of them is very limited. We only know that they’ve existed for a very long time and possess many different forms. If we have to give them a name, we can tentatively call them Unown.”

With that, the chat grew even livelier.

[I’m shocked—there are Pokémon even Mo-bao doesn’t fully understand?!]

[Unown… truly living up to the name, unknown through and through.]

[Mo-bao, if even you don’t know much about them, better be extra careful. Don’t go being reckless like before!]

[What’s there to fear? Pidgeotto brought Mo-bao here. I trust Pidgeotto won’t hurt him.]

”Thanks for the concern, everyone. Judging from the situation, there doesn’t seem to be any immediate danger.”

As he spoke, Chen Mo was also filled with questions.

Why were Unown appearing here?

According to the description from Detective Eye, Unown typically inhabited ancient ruins or spatial rifts. If so, did that mean the rippling distortion earlier was a spatial rift?

Even so, Chen Mo didn’t act rashly. He could feel that the two Unown were observing him as well.

When it came to Unown, caution was warranted.

After all, in the original Pokémon world, Unown had once created a phantom Entei—an existence whose power was terrifying, seemingly no weaker than the real Entei itself.

”Bii! Bibi!”

Pidgeotto appeared to say something else to the Unown.

The two Unown seemed to discuss among themselves for a long while, then floated over, openly circling Chen Mo and examining him for some time.

Finally—

With a strange, low hum—

The space where the ripples had appeared earlier warped again. A rift tore open out of thin air, purple and blue light intertwining, forming what looked like an infinite, mysterious realm.

Before Chen Mo could examine it more closely, he suddenly felt his body lift off the ground, completely out of his control.

There was no need to think hard—this was clearly the power of the Unown.

”Unown… what exactly are you trying to do?”

Chen Mo finally asked.

The Unown didn’t answer.

They simply floated ahead, entering the mysterious space first—followed closely by Chen Mo, Pichu, and Pidgeotto.

Purple and blue light flooded their entire field of vision.

The sudden turn of events made Chen Mo tense. Pichu immediately wrapped its arms tightly around his neck, nervously peeking at the surroundings. Only Pidgeotto seemed utterly unfazed, leisurely following the Unown ahead.

”Looks like this isn’t Pidgeotto’s first time here. In that case… could the ’unknown power’ I saw earlier with Detective Eye be related to this place?”

As his tension eased slightly, a bright white light suddenly appeared in his vision, forcing Chen Mo to squint.

When he opened his eyes again—

They had arrived in a place that felt like an ancient ruin, dimly lit, as if artificially constructed long ago.

”A secret realm?”

The sheer wonder of it made Chen Mo think of those places often called secret realms in novels.

[What just happened? The screen went dark, then bright, and now we’re here?]

[Holy crap, Mo-bao, where is this?!]

[Those pillars around… they look ancient as hell. Unown seriously dragged them somewhere crazy.]

[I heard Mo-bao say ’secret realm’—is that what this place is?]

[Oh no, Mo-bao looks like he’s frozen again.]

At this moment—

Chen Mo was staring at a massive mural at the far end of the corridor, completely stunned.

It depicted a creature that looked like a fusion of a dinosaur and a powerful, bipedal Western dragon. Its body was gray-black, with a lightning-shaped gray crest atop its head. Its tail ended in a massive, cone-shaped spike bristling with points.

High above the clouds, its eyes glowed dark red like a god of destruction. Black clouds churned around it, and terrifying bolts of lightning crashed downward again and again, as if delivering final judgment upon all life below.

Gazing at this myth-like being, Chen Mo slowly spoke its name.

”…Zekrom…”
