I AM the Football Star

Chapter 88: Chapter 36: King of Italian D Division, Romance Revealed! (Part 2)

”I don’t know why, but somehow I feel like they really should be a couple!”

”Yeah, whether in stature or appearance, they match well. The only possible mismatch might be their ages and social status.”

Sofia’s lips were getting close to Lu Yang’s lips, infinitely close.

All of Europe seemed to be both anticipating and fearing something might happen at that very moment.

To be honest, men all over Europe probably weren’t ready to lose Sofia.

”Hey!”

Just then, a sound broke the harmony from not far away.

Lu Yang turned his head and saw a football flying over just in time.

He reached out and caught it.

”This is the ball from your first hat-trick, and it’s also our first championship ball. I managed to snatch it for you!” Morici was inside the railing, smiling broadly, ”No need to thank me, it’s what I should do.”

Lu Yang looked a bit bewildered.

This...

He really ought to thank him?

But...

Before Lu Yang could react, Sofia snatched the ball, rushed towards Morici, and angrily threw it at Morici’s head, exclaiming, ”Thank your whole family!”

The crowd burst into laughter.

Even Sofia herself laughed in annoyance.

The entire stadium was engulfed in a joyful atmosphere.

Even the defeated Tulis merely lost a trophy, compared to promotion spots, championships sometimes seemed insignificant. Also, Tulis’ players were truly humbled by Lu Yang in this game.

Applause and laughter for the winners are not shameful.

Even the central forward of Tulis, Diego Talista, who had been watching Lu Yang’s penalties, goals, and celebrations, cracked a smile.

He actually lost.

Lost to a sixteen-year-old player from the Italian D Division.

Isn’t that funny?

”Lu Yang... Let me find you in Serie A for revenge. We’ll meet on the Serie A field, right?” With his teammates, Talista walked into the player tunnel, his footsteps heavy.

...

The league organizers were setting up a temporary stage on the field, while various media outlets seized the opportunity to interview San Remo’s coach and players.

There were too many legendary aspects of this game to savor!

Reporter: ”Sotu, may I ask what you and Lu Yang were arguing about at the time?”

Sotu: ”We were arguing about his physical health. His injuries seemed so terrifying that anyone at the time should immediately think about medical treatment, not the game. But Lu Yang was different, his focus was solely on the game.”

Reporter: ”Oh? Then why is he now standing hand in hand with Sofia, looking at each other? He should have Sofia in his sights too.”

Sotu: ”Don’t mention Sofia in front of me. This should have been my most successful and happiest day after retirement, but... I think all men in Europe at this moment can understand the sadness in my heart. Let’s get back to football, or else...”

Reporter: ”Alright, may I ask how you view Lu Yang’s performance in this game?”

Sotu: ”It’s superstar-level performance! No one performed better than him in this game. Not me, not Maniero, nor Carrel, Ancelotti, or Perrotta... No one! Only him, only him!”

Reporter: ”Don’t get too emotional, calm down. Can you tell us if Lu Yang’s free kicks are his secret weapon? How does he practice them?”

Sotu: ”How can I not be emotional! Who can refrain from being emotional! I don’t know how he practices free kicks, but as long as he asks, I will allow him any behavior on the field! Because he never disappoints!”

Sotu was so excited that he was almost dancing.

He had his reasons for being like this.

Perhaps many believe San Remo created a colossal miracle this season. In Serie A’s hundred-year history, there has never been a team going from relegation to championship in half a season!

But only Sotu knows this is just the beginning.

A storm belonging to San Remo has only just begun.

This summer, San Remo’s budget in the transfer market is... two million euros!

Two million, what does this mean?

Last year, the average transfer investment for Serie A teams was around seven million euros, but most of it was concentrated among the three northern giants Juventus, Milan, and Inter, while ordinary Serie A teams had transfer investments of only around three million.

San Remo is not far behind them anymore.

Looking at Serie B, the average transfer investment last year was less than one million euros.

Serie C even less, under twenty thousand!

Next season, San Remo will be competing in Serie C.

By then, on paper, they will be crushing!

Serie C is not the target for San Remo at all!

Of course, these things Sotu won’t casually disclose to outsiders.

So his excitement is hard for others to understand.

Soon, the award ceremony began.

Although it was simple, just setting up a stage for everyone to go up to receive medals and trophies, and a group photo.

Everyone in San Remo was thrilled.

Because, aside from their head coach Sotu, it was the first time everyone experienced winning a championship and receiving a trophy!

Everyone!

After the award ceremony, Lu Yang immediately left the stadium, accompanied by Sofia, heading for the hospital.

His eye corner needed further treatment.

Meanwhile, news of San Remo’s miraculous championship victory was spreading rapidly across Europe.

The Italian D League naturally didn’t have such influence.

But Sofia does!
