I AM the Football Star

Chapter 68: Chapter 29: Team Injuries and New Star-level Skills

Sofia left.

When she left, she handed the villa keys to Lu Yang, and she really had the construction team quickly complete an artificial turf soccer field.

With Sofia’s financial resources, even a natural grass small field would be affordable, but time was running out.

Sofia could feel that without that field, Lu Yang might actually refuse to come here to help her with the house viewing invitation.

And when Lu Yang and Morici finished training and were about to return to the villa, Morici, upon hearing that Lu Yang had already moved into Sofia’s mansion, completely changed.

He felt that his friendship with Lu Yang was nearing its end.

To this end, he vowed never to befriend someone who is one meter eighty-one again.

Their speed of betrayal was simply beyond his expectations.

Rondo comforted Morici, saying, ”Don’t be like this. When you have a girlfriend, you’ll also experience such changes.”

Morici asked confusedly, ”So does love inevitably discount friendship?”

Rondo replied, ”At least it’s like this at the beginning.”

Morici said, ”What were you like when you were in love? Did you also abandon friendship like Lu?”

Rondo said, ”Not that there are too many similarities, just that... exactly the same... no, I was even worse back then, like a total sycophant! Honestly, Lu Yang is handling it a hundred times better than I did, you have to understand him. After all, Sofia is his first love, they’re really on fire, you get what I mean.”

Morici seemed to half understand, women seemed to be more complicated than soccer.

On the other side, Lu Yang never expected that even for a game he didn’t participate in, he could receive rewards.

”Ding! The team defeated the opponent without you, you have obtained a random gift pack *1.”

”Ding! You opened the gift pack and obtained the Star-level Skill, Golden Wolf Guti’s Through Pass!”

Again with the wolf!

Again with the Star Skill!

Lu Yang was grinning from ear to ear.

Red Wolf King Totti’s chip shot.

Golden Wolf Guti’s through pass.

Will the next pack opening bring the Lone Wolf Romario’s shooting or something?

Guti was a midfielder for Real Madrid, known for being a maverick.

His through passes were incredibly sharp and often lethal. But the high risk associated with failed through passes leading to counterattacks was the trade-off for such high-reward actions.

Guti was therefore controversial throughout his career, but he never changed his style, insisting on this sharp play.

This made his midfield not stable, yet it enthralled fans, again and again stimulating their adrenaline.

This Star Skill significantly improved Lu Yang’s passing ability.

Long pass increased to 60.

Short pass awakened and directly reached 55 points.

Foot strength increased from 50 to 55.

And the through pass generally refers to a ground pass, which further improved Lu Yang’s passing ability. Previously, his low pass and heavy spin pass were both types of high-altitude long passes.

...

After all the results of the thirty-fifth Italian D League round came out, there were changes in the standings.

Tulis won big and still maintained their lead, with 73 points currently.

Bisceglie did not continue to fall short and also won, ranking second with 71 points.

Franca Villa found themselves in a predicament of an impotent attack due to the absence of their main central forward due to injury, drawing 0-0 with their opponent, ranking third with 69 points in the standings.

Moreover, they are tied with fourth-place San Remo!

However, in the Italian D League, ties in the rankings are first broken by head-to-head results, and Franca Villa had one win and one draw against San Remo, so they ranked third.

San Remo had only two draws in the second half of the season, winning all the others, and one of those draws was gifted by Franca Villa.

But even so, as long as there’s a tie situation, San Remo is basically at a disadvantage.

Because they lost to all the top six teams in the first half of the season.

Even though they mostly won back in the second half of the season, in the first half they were often behind by a large margin, and if they can’t win by a large margin in the second half, when it comes to the goal difference comparison in the head-to-head results, they are generally at a disadvantage as well.

This is a hidden danger for San Remo.

Palermo in fifth and Catania in sixth also won, biting at the heels of San Remo and Franca Villa with 67 points and 66 points respectively.

The competition for the top six is becoming more intense.

The day before the thirty-sixth match, the San Remo regular training session saw the starting right center-back suffer a thigh strain. After examination, it was confirmed he would miss all subsequent games of the season.

The team made an emergency adjustment, with substitute center-back Naji entering the starting lineup.

Considering Naji’s prone-to-error attribute, many are pessimistic about this adjustment.

Fortunately, San Remo’s next opponent is Viterbo, a weak team whose relegation was confirmed early on.

One day later, the thirty-sixth league match kicked off.

In the seventh minute of the match, Lu Yang made a through pass that was breathtaking, stunning the entire audience.

There were at least four people between him and the team’s central forward, but Lu Yang’s through pass precisely flew through them, appearing at the feet of the San Remo team’s center forward.

This was one of the rare precise ground passes from Lu Yang, catching the opponent off guard.

Because previously, only Morici could make such passes for San Remo!

With the ball in single coverage, the San Remo center forward did not miss this great opportunity and opened the scoring for the team.

San Remo led Viterbo one to zero.

Although relegation was certain, it didn’t mean Viterbo’s players didn’t want to secure a victory.
