I AM the Football Star

Chapter 62: Chapter 26: Play Soccer Like a King (Part 3)

The right midfielder passed back to Morici, who delivered a long pass, the soccer ball slicing through the sky.

But at the same time, Morici let out a scream of agony.

Because Borges, who was above ready to contest the header, took Morici down with a sliding tackle from behind during his retreat.

He wanted to break up the pass.

More than that, he wanted to take Morici out of the game.

”Oh, a beautiful pass... Morici has been fouled, affecting his pass direction!”

”Originally, Morici intended to make a long pass to the left wing of the team, where Vedian, once with the ball, would be one-on-one with the goalkeeper. But because he was taken down by Potenza’s player Borges, his pass instead aimed for the center. The referee didn’t stop the game, signaling an advantage for the attack!”

”Vedian knows he can’t get to the ball, so he shifts from moving forward to moving to the flank, taking away one of the defenders. Because in the center, there’s another San Remo player who might retrieve the ball.”

”Lu Yang’s high-speed advance is also very rapid, why is he so fast? He’s surpassed one of the opponent’s defenders, with only Potenza’s sole center-back ahead.”

”Potenza’s center-back positions himself, Lu Yang and he keep engaging in body contact while running. A normal forward would have been blocked by the center-back by now, but not Lu Yang. He’s not only fast, but also strong!”

”He’s got the ball, Lu Yang’s got the ball, but the opposing center-back is entangling him. What’s he going to do? Pass to Vedian? But Vedian is too wide. And the others haven’t caught up yet, especially Morici, who’s still curled up on the ground. Borges’ foul was definitely vile, and after this attack, the referee might give him his second yellow card of the match!”

At the arc of the penalty area, Lu Yang receives the ball, constantly contending with the opposing center-back.

”He doesn’t stand a chance here,” Luis says from the stands, ”if it were Carrel, you would definitely take the shot, and under such pressure, taking the shot is your specialty.”

”He wants to be your successor, wants to be the heir to the King of Purple Lilies, he should just smash the ball through and send it into that damn net!”

Luis is an outstanding scout, very familiar with the technical characteristics of the players.

Carrel is just that strong.

But only Carrel is that strong, able to shrug off a center-back and take a thunderous shot at will.

The average forward wouldn’t even have the chance to take a shot, they’d be thrown off balance by the defender’s collision.

”He will, because he’s furious,” Maniero interjects.

The next second.

Bang!

Lu Yang, while fending off the opposing center-back, takes the shot from the arc of the penalty area.

The center-back tries to stop it all, but finds himself utterly unable to move Lu Yang.

This guy’s ability to withstand pressure is too strong!

The next second, the soccer ball travels in a straight upward diagonal line, directly into the net.

While in the air, the ball was only one and two tenths meters off the ground. But when it went into the goal, it almost hit the crossbar.

During its flight, the ball rose nearly more than a meter in height.

This was a spectacularly executed rapid ascent shot!

And Potenza’s goalkeeper misjudged completely, even kneeling on the ground.

Obviously, he thought Lu Yang could only strike a rapid descent shot.

Compared to the skillful nature of a rapid descent shot, a rapid ascent shot represents more the sense of power!

”GOAL!”

The entire stadium erupted instantly!

And Luis stood frozen on the spot.

Because Lu Yang’s way of striking just now was exactly the same as the King of Purple Lilies...
