Chapter 151: Chapter 151: Monkey King

Zhu Wenwu keenly noticed the change in the zombies, gasping as he said:

”These zombies are somewhat different from before. They are sharper, probably because we’ve killed a large number of zombies.”

Su Changxing shook off the black blood from his blade, also noticing this change, and shouted: ”Let’s stop for a while and rest.”

He was still a bit worried about triggering an Undead Tide, with these zombies suddenly swarming in.

Although they’ve slaughtered over a hundred zombies, there were still quite a few zombies around, probably around three to four hundred more.

If an Undead Tide were triggered, it would definitely be a huge trouble.

After an hour of battles, many people were exhausted and directly sat down on the ground, not caring if the black blood on the ground stained their clothes.

”Honestly, these zombies’ brains are really hard; I seriously suspect they’ve got hypertrophy.”

Zhou An, dripping with sweat, sat on the ground and mocked, but his chubby face carried a trace of excitement, as slashing zombies actually brought him a bit of exhilaration.

Apart from Su Changxing, he had definitely killed quite a lot of zombies, comparable to Zhu Wenwu, who had been strengthened once.

Zhu Wenwu had slightly better combat skills, while Zhou An possessed the ability to throw, occasionally killing zombies by throwing rusty knives.

Su Changxing thought for a moment and said: ”Hypertrophy probably wouldn’t make bones harder.”

Zhou An squinted his already small eyes and earnestly asked: ”Then what illness would make bones hard?”

Suddenly, a series of monkey cries came from the edge of the woods not far away. Following the sound, Su Changxing saw a small-sized monkey with scarlet eyes leap, jumping onto a zombie’s head, tearing at it fiercely, pulling out its brain, and stuffing it into its mouth.

The zombie with the hollowed-out brain staggered and fell to the ground, while surrounding zombies roared and gathered around it.

It leapt back to the tree, glanced back at Su Changxing and others, its face covered in black blood and ferocity, and vanished into the forest.

Zhou An looked shocked and stammered: ”Big brother, that monkey seems to have some intelligence; I think it smiled at us.”

Zhu Wenwu agreed, then continued: ”Its action seemed like a warning, warning us not to go over there?”

Su Changxing frowned, feeling that this monkey was unusual. If these Zombie Monkeys were intelligent, some matters would need reevaluation.

These monkeys showed evident Corpse Transformation, but unlike humans, they retained intelligence, possibly even evolved it.

Is it due to racial differences?

However, these monkeys and zombies are in a hostile relationship, which counts as somewhat good news; at least they won’t be simultaneously besieged by monkeys and zombies.

Feeling everyone’s eyes on him, Su Changxing contemplated for a while then said:

”In the city, the number of these monkeys should not be too many, not posing much of a problem. Let’s clear out the zombies outside first.”

Around here, this neighborhood is the most suitable as a gathering place, not too big or small. Importantly, it has a semi-enclosed structure, only needing a few exits blocked.

Moreover, this location is relatively concealed, and other places aren’t necessarily safer than here.

No one raised any objections, and after resting for a while, Su Changxing led the group to start clearing zombies again.

At this point, the zombies’ agitation level notably reduced, seeming calmer.

Su Changxing looked at Zhou An with a hint of humor and said: ”Zhou An, you run fast, so I’ll give you a task.”

”Huh?”

Zhou An was taken aback, unable to guess what specific task would be assigned to him.

Su Changxing pointed at the zombie group upfront and said:

”You go draw some zombies over here alone, and we’ll clear them out. This way is more stable, won’t trigger an Undead Tide, and is more efficient.”

Zhou An thought about it and felt there didn’t seem to be much danger. Though he looked chubby, his speed was full of agility—one could call him a nimble fatty or fast-moving fatty—and agreed:

”Sure, I should lure about ten zombies at a time, right?”

Su Changxing nodded: ”Not more than fifteen, and it should be just fine.”

Zhou An’s temperament was straightforward, not overthinking, and headed towards the zombies not far away, thinking running a loop should bring zombies back.

The first time he ran over, he was cautious, turning back from a distance away without counting how many zombies followed behind.

Su Changxing watched Zhou An with two zombies trailing behind and didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, stepping forward and resolving them with two slashes.

Zhou An looked at the zombie corpses on the ground, scratched his rear head awkwardly and smiled, saying: ”Ha, I’ll lead more next time.”

After speaking, he turned and ran towards the zombie group again, running until he almost bumped into the foremost zombie before turning to run back. The commotion of his running drew quite a few zombies.

Zhou An sprinted back, his face looking unpleasant.

With a clatter, a large group of zombies followed him, almost twenty zombies, nearly inciting an Undead Tide.

Su Changxing was momentarily stunned, not expecting Zhou An’s boldness, recklessly charging in, raising his Bow and Arrow, and immediately began shooting, killing two zombies as they surged over.

Immediately afterwards, he raised his Steel Saber, actively charged at the zombies, facing off and killing two more zombies. The others, seeing Su Changxing’s bravery, showed no fear and charged alongside.

Fortunately, they were well prepared, and after a round of fighting, no one died, but four or five were injured, including a man named Wang Chuan, who was injured not lightly, having a chunk of flesh bitten out of his arm and had to go back to treat the wound.

Zhou An wiped the black blood off his face, his expression stiff, not expecting to cause such a spectacle, and said: ”Big brother, should I go again?”

Su Changxing nodded and calmly said: ”Yes, go again, this time you should get the hang of it.”

Attracting zombies this way was inherently difficult to control, so such things happening was understandable, though Zhou An indeed seemed a bit unreliable.

Zhou Wen heard these words, remained silent for a bit, and ran towards the zombie group again to attract them. This time the number was just right, about ten zombies.

Such a number of zombies were just perfect for them to deal with, posing no significant danger, and within a few minutes, they cleaned them out.

After resting for a while, Zhou An went forward to attract zombies again, proceeding in this rhythm, clearing them wave by wave.

Gradually, everyone cooperated more smoothly, and efficiency naturally increased.

Approaching seven o’clock, the zombies around them were almost cleared, only a few scattered ones left.

Zhou An turned back towards Huang Biao’s side and laughed freely: ”Ha, we’re really fast; Boss Huang’s side still has half left.”

Zhu Wenwu glanced at him, annoyed, and said: ”It’s all because Brother Su is impressive; otherwise, our speed should be about the same.”

With their ages similar, after an afternoon they were pretty familiar. Zhou An was slightly more lively, while Zhu Wenwu was more cautious.

Su Changxing looked back at them and said: ”We’ll rest for a while and then go help them, trying to clear the zombies outside before dark... Zhu Wenwu, you now take a few people to block the east gate, otherwise after dark, these zombies will run wild.”

Zhu Wenwu nodded, taking seven or eight people running towards the east gate, something previously planned.

As for the materials to block the gate, Yan Xu had already found them earlier, some large furniture.

Su Changxing’s cheeks were slightly red, with a few beads of sweat on his forehead. He’d consumed quite a bit of stamina too, slaughtering over three hundred zombies alone in one afternoon—not just an empty boast.

Standing at the edge of the forest, he looked into it, trying to spot these Zombie Monkeys, broken stone steps overgrown with weeds, bushes half-human tall, with quite a few skeletons on the ground in the distance.

”Careful.”

A head suddenly shouted.

Su Changxing’s heart skipped a beat, he looked up seeing a humanoid black figure from the top of the forest lunging at him, extremely fast, carrying sharp windy noises.

A huge monkey, ears twisted viciously.

It seemed to have been hiding here for a while, waiting for Su Changxing to approach.
