Chapter 198: Chapter 198: Infighting

Upon hearing these words, Song Linning’s face visibly darkened. Although this might be a fact, it couldn’t be said out loud. He coldly replied:

”Don’t make baseless statements. We’ve also made our contribution, so we deserve enhancement. Even if we can’t all be enhanced, some of us should be.”

Song Linning’s group was unexpectedly large, with more than a dozen people, each holding a blade exchanged from the Blood Moon Shop.

In contrast, Huang Biao’s group was full of scars and utterly exhausted.

The Attribute Enhancement had additional effects of healing and relieving fatigue, so Huang Biao had allowed some agile and seriously injured people to be enhanced.

But he never imagined such a dramatic scene would occur—when everyone was fighting desperately for survival, there were still people scheming behind his back.

Song Linning and his group were essentially stealing the fruits of others’ labor.

Huang Biao quietly looked at these people with an indifferent expression and said, ”Your idea is really quite nice, very beautiful... I am actually supposed to be a very good-tempered person, but after that... kill them.”

Before he finished his sentence, Huang Biao charged at them with a machete, followed by dozens of others rushing forward with him.

Every second was now extremely crucial, and Huang Biao couldn’t hesitate. A delay might lead to the breach of their stronghold.

Song Linning’s pupils shrank, not expecting Huang Biao to attack without a word, completely against his previous assumptions.

Huang Biao and his group were in poor condition, and their stronghold was currently under a zombie siege.

Huang Biao ought to negotiate with them. Even if they couldn’t all be enhanced, they should have negotiated for a few enhancement slots.

This was a clever tactic—first making higher demands, then lowering them, guiding the other side to more easily agree to his original conditions.

However, Huang Biao turned out to be completely different from what he imagined. Rather than a stronghold leader, he seemed like a street thug, exuding a reckless intensity.

This damn situation left no room for negotiation.

Song Linning stared blankly, gritting his teeth, and led his men forward into the fray.

However, they still had a fair chance of winning, given that Huang Biao and his group were all heavily injured. Moreover, if they could manage a sudden takeover, seizing control of the Hongyue Shop would be ideal.

Perhaps, they could rely on the Hongyue Shop’s resources to become an Extraordinary.

And he had a backup plan.

Huang Biao had extensive experience in group fights and knew that momentum was key. He swiftly slashed off a head with a single strike and shouted:

”If you want to die, just come forward.”

The head hit the ground and rolled a few times.

Not a few people on Song Linning’s side showed signs of hesitation, but the pressure Huang Biao exerted was palpable only at that moment.

Song Linning knew that Huang Biao was strong but still exceeded his expectations. This man was like a primal beast.

Suddenly.

A black sphere appeared in his left hand and he hurled it toward Huang Biao.

This was a Mysterious Item he had unexpectedly obtained, a Weakness Smoke Bomb, which could put a target in a weakened state for ten minutes, reducing all attributes by one-third, but only effective on Order beings.

A burst of grayish smoke exploded in the vicinity, large in range, making it impossible for Huang Biao to evade.

Instantly, he felt an overwhelming sense of weakness across his body, though not entirely incapacitated, his abilities were significantly weaker compared to before.

Only Huang Biao was affected, even though the smoke was widespread, it was effective on just one person.

Seeing the effect, Song Linning grinned and shouted:

”Huang Biao has been subdued by my tool, finish him, seize our chance to become Extraordinary. Brothers, this is our shot at survival.”

The words were highly provocative, and those who were initially hesitant now had resolute expressions, their faces showing a determined ferocity, similar to desperate criminals at the end of their ropes.

Huang Biao also thought things were turning bad, as the situation seemed to be slipping from his control, yet he managed to sternly say:

”If you regret it now, you might still make it in time. Best not to seek your death.”

Song Linning looked into Huang Biao’s bloodshot, red eyes, lifted an axe, and stepped forward to hack at Huang Biao, knowing he was now just a paper tiger, papertiger.

Though this tool weakened the target by only one-third, for Ordinary People hit by it, they might have collapsed to the ground.

For Huang Biao to still stand here was proof of his strength.

Huang Biao parried with his blade, then kicked Song Linning in the abdomen, knocking him to the ground and shouting, ”You’re just courting death.”

Song Linning was still inferior to Huang Biao, but this move completely triggered a melee.

Once the fight broke out, neither side would easily stop until one side was at an absolute disadvantage.

A young man on Huang Biao’s side was immediately chopped on the arm by the enemy, and then slashed across the abdomen, overwhelmed by several opponents, and was hacked to death on the spot.

A brawl erupted internally at the Blood Moon Shop, yet no one noticed it. The red fog, dim light, and endless zombies outside made it hard to see clearly in these circumstances.

Veins popped on Huang Biao’s forehead; he never expected someone might not die from the zombie assault but be backstabbed by their own people.

If they were all wiped out here, in such chaos, it might even be impossible to find out who did it.

Even if they could find out, it would be after the Blood Moon, and Song Linning and his men could have already fled by then.

Decisively, Huang Biao decided to retreat, taking out his phone, planning to message Su Changxing.

Seeing this, Song Linning panicked, got up, and charged at Huang Biao again with his blade, shouting, ”Quickly finish them off, don’t let them send a message.”

At that moment.

A black line streaked across the air.

Song Linning stood frozen in place, an arrow embedded in his temple; he fell to the ground dead seconds later.

Song Linning’s death didn’t stop the melee.

Su Changxing was swiftly approaching, loosing another arrow during his advance, piercing the skull of an insurgent with their blade raised.

His powerful Night Vision afforded him a wide view in these circumstances, allowing him to notice the situation here immediately. He had to leave the zombie-infested exit, letting others hold the position, to first deal with the chaos here.

Looking at the scene before him, he could only lament how some people could be timid when fighting zombies but execute their fellow humans with full force, leaving no mercy.

During his approach, four or five people were hacked to death by Song Linning and his group.
