Chapter 195: Chapter 195: A Moment Between Life and Death

The young girl seemed quite frightened, feeling that Su Changxing also appeared quite strange.

Could they all be crazy?

Zhu Xin Xue comforted maturely, ”Master, life and death are determined by fate; it’s something no one can control. Don’t be sad.”

Su Changxing slapped her on the head and said, ”Which eye do you see me being sad with? Your brother wants you to go down now; he has something to discuss with you.”

Zhu Xin Xue seemed to notice something fishy, her eyes lit up, and she said:

”Do you mean Sister Jin Xuan is alright? I felt the same... Just now, after Sister Jin Xuan jumped down, although I didn’t see her figure, many zombies died below, clearing some space.”

Su Changxing took out the Shadow Bow, shot an arrow at a climbing zombie, and said:

”Wait, if the gathering place collapses, try your best to take care of yourself first. Both your brother and I may not be able to look after you... If possible, try to run upstairs.”

Although Zhu Xin Xue was young, she had a stubborn and determined nature, and once she made up her mind, it was difficult for others to change it.

”Okay, okay, I’ll head down now.”

Zhu Xin Xue nodded repeatedly, just about to leave, then remembered something, and said: ”Sister Jin Xuan wanted me to tell you that she’s gone.”

Lin Xiuyu stood upstairs, looking at the dense zombies below, and said, ”Have all our gathering places activated bases?”

The middle-aged man pondered for a while and said, ”Half and half. Although these undead tides don’t put too much pressure on our gathering places, it’s better to be cautious. Here, we’ve activated bases along with South Team Three, Five, and Six.”

Lin Xiuyu wanted to say something but held back.

Bright blue light flashed in the middle-aged man’s eyes, dazzling, and he said, ”Say what you want to say directly; after things pass, words are just wasted.”

Lin Xiuyu took a deep breath and said, ”I think we should activate bases in all gathering places. If we treat this Blood Moon like a game, with greater difficulty comes richer rewards, which would greatly enhance us... only then can we push forward, until we clear the game.”

Cai Jing glanced at him and said calmly, ”But gathering places involve the lives of thousands of people, which could lead to their destruction... The Group Leader is already taking a great risk, going against the Deacon Chiefs and making this decision.”

The Security Bureau, although in name overseeing everything, the reality isn’t that simple.

The Security Bureau is not what it used to be.

Various forces originally present in the world are intertwined within, and a body named the Execution Conference has been established.

The middle-aged man shook his head and said, ”The current method is the most stable one. There are two paths; people will walk both, and eventually some will survive.”

Lin Xiuyu did not continue speaking, then switched topics:

”Given the current situation of the undead tides, estimating for other spontaneously formed gathering places—if they don’t activate, the likelihood of survival is still high. Activating once will definitely cause some gathering places to be destroyed.”

Cai Jing said with a calm expression, ”That’s right, within hours, approximately seven to eight billion people have already died... likely none of the civilian gathering places will choose to activate a second time.”

Zombies continued their relentless attack, and Su Changxing and the others awaited Screamer’s arrival, but with the second activation, only zombie numbers increased, and Extraordinary Zombies appeared frequently.

However, for now, they were still manageable.

Zhu Wenwu looked at Zhu Xin Xue covered in black blood, momentarily unsure what to say, calmly said, ”Zhu Xin Xue, you’d better take care of yourself. If you die, I have no way to explain it to mom and dad.”

Zhu Xin Xue looked at Zhu Wenwu defiantly and said, ”If you die, I can’t explain it to them either.”

Although she felt Zhu Wenwu had changed a lot, she subconsciously saw him as the timid Zhu Wenwu he once was.

Zhu Wenwu wiped the black blood off Zhu Xin Xue’s face with his hand and said, ”Trust me, I won’t die, at least not before you do. I now have the ability to protect you.”

He felt unexpectedly strong, at least twice as strong as before the Blood Moon, though he didn’t understand why he had changed so much.

Suddenly.

Several screams came from upstairs.

Zombies broke through to the second floor again, but this time it wasn’t one or two, it was over ten zombies appearing on the second floor.

Zhu Wenwu realized the situation was bad, fearing these zombies directly formed a human ladder to the second floor, cursed, ”What are the people on the top floor doing.”

He then turned and led others to run to the second floor, a mental picture immediately appearing of a zombie running down the hallway.

This zombie was different, somewhat bright, its skin faintly flickering with lightning.

It must be the Extraordinary Zombie Su Changxing spoke of.

Before Zhu Wenwu could reach it, the zombie leaped down from the upper floor, knocked a middle-aged woman to the ground, and burst with lightning.

The woman’s skin turned charcoal black, dying on the spot.

Zhu Xin Xue was right next to it, becoming its next target.

Zhu Xin Xue reacted quickly, crouched and rolled sideways, but her speed was ultimately too slow to dodge the zombie’s attack, only able to watch as the zombie charged at her, lightning flashing in the night sky.

There were actually quite a few people around, but the zombie was too peculiar, shrouded in lightning, just roasted someone, obviously dangerous to approach.

At this moment, Zhu Wenwu had two mental images, one was of him watching the zombie, another was from a diagonal overhead view of the zombie.

On the zombie’s head appeared a red dagger mark, both illusory and real.

Zhu Wenwu’s speed suddenly accelerated, rushing towards Zhu Xin Xue, attempting to intercept the lightning zombie.

The three were in a triangular position, Zhu Wenwu was farther away, but his body moved with bizarre speed, intercepting the lightning zombie before it could reach Zhu Xin Xue.

Zhu Wenwu thrust his Steel Sword into the zombie’s body, but before he could celebrate, the zombie burst with lightning.

Zhu Xin Xue’s gaze trembled, taking two steps forward, smashing the zombie’s shoulder with a stick, sending it flying, separating the two, relieved to see Zhu Wenwu hadn’t turned black like the woman, said:

”Zhu Wenwu, can you still move?”

Zhu Wenwu twitched on the ground, intense pain spreading like thousands of needles piercing his skin, stabbing into bones.

But he saw the zombie rise, so he shakily stood up too, shielding Zhu Xin Xue, his face skin cracking and bleeding profusely.
