Global Game: I Have Portable Store

Chapter 183: Chapter 183: Giant Creature

Without forming an Undead Tide, the zombies on the street appeared quiet, like cutting through wheat. Half an hour later, Su Changxing and Jin cleared the street again, with no accidents this time.

However, the zombies on the street were much denser than at the beginning, with zombie corpses everywhere, and the air filled with the smell of decay.

”That’s about it, let’s head back.”

Su Changxing leaned against an abandoned car to rest, wiping black blood off the blade with a rag. This was a new steel saber he exchanged for at the store; the original one was still left upstairs.

The blade of that saber was severely damaged, so there was no need to retrieve it.

No response.

Su Changxing turned to look back; Jin was sitting on the hood of the car, head down, motionless, seemingly asleep.

He noticed that Jin’s hair had turned jet-black.

She was Shen Jinxuan.

So she switches status in relatively calm environments?

Shen Jinxuan opened her eyes. The sky was slightly dark, still full of red fog, along with a street full of zombie corpses.

Somewhat confused, she guessed that another ”her” had followed Su Changxing here, but what was with all these zombie corpses on the ground...

She pondered.

Some blurry images appeared in her mind, like a dream, unclear but she knew they had happened.

Shen Jinxuan was silent for a while, then said, ”So all of this is your doing?”

Su Changxing threw away the blood-stained rag in his hand and said, ”Partly, yes.”

Shen Jinxuan thought for a moment and asked, ”And the other part?”

Su Changxing glanced at her and smiled, ”You killed them.”

Shen Jinxuan only felt that Su Changxing was joking. She drew a short knife from her waist, looked around cautiously, and said, ”Are we heading back to the base now?”

”Mm.”

Su Changxing nodded and said, ”Tonight is the Blood Moon. These zombies might riot, so we should head back and prepare.”

As they walked, Shen Jinxuan observed the zombie corpses on the ground and analyzed:

”These zombies seem to have been shot in the head by some type of firearm, very powerful, comparable to a regular sniper rifle. However, it’s impossible for a sniper rifle to kill this many zombies. A Gatling gun? No, that’s not right; Gatlings aren’t this precise.”

Su Changxing cooperated by asking, ”So, what weapon do you think caused this?”

Shen Jinxuan used her imagination and said:

”This can’t be guessed by common logic. Firstly, he must be a sharpshooter. From what I observe, nine out of ten zombies were headshot directly. Secondly, he uses a very powerful rifle with a silencer, making very little noise, not enough to trigger an Undead Tide... Hmm, seems a bit unscientific.”

As she spoke, she dismissed her own guess.

Clearing zombies with firearms would certainly trigger an Undead Tide, and the distribution of these zombie corpses was fairly even, not like the aftermath of an Undead Tide.

A very smart girl.

Su Changxing cut down a zombie lunging from the side with a slash, saying, ”Have you considered the factor of superpowers?”

Shen Jinxuan thought and said, ”Actually, I knew about superpowers before, but they’re not as mystical as in legends, hmm, not as effective as firearms.”

Su Changxing was a bit surprised, ”How do you know?”

Shen Jinxuan shrugged and said, ”I stumbled upon it too, saw some abandoned materials in the news agency. It seemed like someone specialized in investigating it, but ultimately, nothing was published, probably because this information was blocked.”

Suddenly, she stopped, pointed to the sky above the distant street, and said dumbfounded, ”What do you think that is, does it look like a giant bird?”

Su Changxing looked closely and indeed saw a massive black shadow, shaped like a bird, but due to the distance and red fog, its appearance was unclear.

”Let’s leave here quickly.”

He frowned slightly and immediately led Shen Jinxuan to speed up their pace toward the base.

The further they walked, the more he felt something was amiss, though he couldn’t say what, just that the world felt different from before.

It was sunset; golden light mixed with red fog gradually revealed vibrant colors, with the sky taking on a purplish hue, as if stars twinkled within the red fog.

Shen Jinxuan was captivated by the scenery and said, ”Never thought I could see such a scene in this world. This beauty seems to transcend human aesthetic limits. I know it’s beautiful, but I don’t know where the beauty lies.”

Su Changxing also found it beautiful, but his expression remained heavy, saying, ”The more beautiful and enchanting something is, the more dangerous it is. Like venomous snakes and mushrooms. Let’s hurry.”

He quickened his pace again.

Shen Jinxuan had to run to keep up, occasionally looking at the unusually beautiful surroundings. They remained the same, yet somehow, they appeared very beautiful, as if a filter had been applied.

They’ve sped up.

Su Changxing clearly felt that the zombies suddenly increased in speed at some point, and their movements became more spirited, making them much harder to deal with.

The two approached the base area.

Looking up, Su Changxing suddenly noticed a massive shadow towering between heaven and earth, larger and taller than any building, its form unclear.

A gigantic creature sat on the ground, or perhaps stood; it was a humanoid figure, with especially noticeable pitch-black, enormous eyes.

He couldn’t tell how big those eyes were, possibly as large as a door or as a building.

A despair-inducing sense of oppression approached. Facing such a colossal form left anyone without any thoughts.

Shen Jinxuan froze in place, staring blankly at the scene, her body stiff and face pale, ”What is this thing?”

Su Changxing licked his lips and asked internally, ”Brain, is that thing real?”

He suspected it was an illusion, like a mirage, but the pressure felt undeniably real, similar to the suppression of one’s life force.

The brain remarked in shock, ”It is real. How could something of this level appear? This is unscientific. Kid, should we just run and get away from here?”

Su Changxing looked around and said, ”But where should we run?”

A similar giant shadow appeared in the distance, resembling a four-legged octopus, with long tentacles thrashing in the air.

Su Changxing pulled the dazed Shen Jinxuan and walked toward the base, saying, ”Don’t look, just pretend they’re not there. Observing such things for too long might harm the spirit.”

Shen Jinxuan snapped back, indeed feeling a moment of disorientation, with distant singing echoing in her ears.

The world had become strange.

Su Changxing noticed his mysteriousness was slowly rising.
