Chapter 152: Chapter 152: Human Cunning

With the reminder from the head, Su Changxing reacted quickly and blocked with his knife almost the moment the monkey made its move.

”Ah!”

The monkey punched the blade of Su Changxing’s knife. Its fur was exceptionally tough, only leaving a shallow wound, and it let out a painful roar.

The monkey’s strength was extraordinary. Su Changxing took a few small steps back defensively, realizing this monkey was no simple creature, at least matching his strength.

Is this what’s called racial talent?

The monkey used the recoil to jump back. The pain in its hand made it completely calm down, and it half-crouched on the ground, scrutinizing Su Changxing with beastly eyes.

It had been observing Su Changxing for quite a while and knew he was stronger than other humans, but it didn’t expect him to be this formidable.

A monkey and a man stared at each other across the forest.

The monkey bared its teeth, eyes blood-red, with thick calluses on its exposed facial skin, exuding ferocity, like a wild beast.

Su Changxing also didn’t advance rashly, but rather used ”True Knowledge” to observe the monkey.

[Black Death Monkey (Extraordinary): Enlightener Tier Nine, injured, rational. A great transformation through the genes, it makes the Black Death Monkeys a race, a wise race, bringing a moment of enlightenment to what was once an ordinary, ignorant, bewildered race.]

Enlightener? Does that mean it can enlighten other zombie monkeys?

Su Changxing was surprised by the abundance of information from ”True Knowledge,” leading him to this conclusion, not expecting such a role to exist.

A monkey with such a position could undoubtedly be called a sage among monkeys, a saint, and ”Monkey King” wouldn’t be overstating it.

In the ”Monkey King’s” eyes, Su Changxing saw the brutality of a beast and something akin to human rationality. Meanwhile, pairs of blood-red eyes were staring at him from the branches in the surrounding forest.

One, two, three······

There were at least thirty or forty, and the actual number might be more.

Damn, is there a place nearby that specifically sells monkeys?

Su Changxing didn’t retreat a step, calmly looking at these monkeys, estimating their combat effectiveness in the forest might be strong, but not as much on flat ground as the zombies.

Zhou An and others also held their weapons, standing behind Su Changxing, confronting these monkeys, as the air grew tense.

After a while, the ”Monkey King’s” momentum seemed to weaken somewhat, and it moved its mouth to utter some vague syllables: ”Humans, leave here.”

”Whoa, this monkey has become a spirit, it can actually talk.”

Zhou An was shocked upon hearing the monkey speak, and the others shared the same expression, finding it extremely unreal for a creature they thought to be just an animal to now be able to speak.

Su Changxing felt the same but didn’t show it. At this moment, he had more thoughts and originally believed they only had two choices in front of these monkeys: either take them down or leave the area to find another place to gather.

But now it seems there’s a third option; if communication is possible, it means negotiation is possible.

Su Changxing thought for a moment, speaking slowly, one word at a time:

”Why should we leave? We are currently stronger than you. Shouldn’t it be you who leaves?”

He deliberately enunciated each word clearly, lest the not-so-intelligent monkey wouldn’t understand.

The ”Monkey King” showed a thoughtful expression and then patted its chest, saying, ”We are strong, you are weak.”

This sounded somewhat like bluster.

Su Changxing’s mind raced, thinking that since this monkey knew human language, it very likely used to be a pet monkey that transformed due to some fortuitous encounter.

Therefore, it should be very familiar with human society.

Su Changxing revealed a slightly odd smile and said, ”As a human pet, isn’t it only proper for you to submit to humans?”

The ”Monkey King” didn’t get enraged as Su Changxing had expected. Instead, it was silent for a moment before stating firmly, ”Times have changed, the future is ours.”

Su Changxing was quite stunned, realizing the monkey’s intelligence might be even higher than he thought, and its hostility towards humans seemed minimal.

Su Changxing mused, ”It seems your former owner treated you well, then doesn’t this count as betrayal?”

The ”Monkey King” stood straight, gesturing with its hands, saying, ”He is my family.”

Is this also why this group of monkeys never attacked Huang Biao and his party?

Just then, at seven o’clock, Su Changxing glanced at his phone’s discount shop, having a thought, and said:

”What do you need? Perhaps we can cooperate, like family.”

The ”Monkey King” seemed very guileless, pointing to the zombie on the ground, saying, ”We need to eat their brains.”

Eat zombie brains?

Or do these monkeys become stronger by consuming zombie brains?

With one hand held behind his back, Su Changxing smiled, ”We can cooperate, kill these zombies together, and you can have the brains. Meanwhile, you can stay here. How about that?”

The ”Monkey King” was filled with contemplative expressions, weighing the pros and cons before saying, ”Okay, but you cannot enter here, nor can you command us.”

”Here” clearly meant the forest. As long as these humans didn’t interfere by entering, it had no other concerns.

Meanwhile, Zhou An and the others noticed that Su Changxing suddenly had a leather ring in his hand, worn out and bloodstained.

[Zombie Training Ring: Dingguan, capable of somewhat controlling a zombie creature no higher than one’s tier, easier with lesser strength.

Note: Must be placed around the opponent’s neck, with durability.]

This was just refreshed in the Mysterious Shop, at a 20% discount, costing 2000 points.

These Black Death Monkeys should count as zombie creatures too.

Su Changxing pursed his lips, staring at the monkey, and said:

”If that’s the case, put this around your neck; it’s a kind of human cooperation ceremony.”

What kind of cooperation ceremony is this?

Never heard of a ceremony where you put a ring around someone’s head.

Zhou An and others were dumbfounded, unclear on what Su Changxing intended to do, but they stayed quiet and watched from behind.

Su Changxing remained tense, watching the ”Monkey King’s” every move, ready to forcibly put the ring on if things went wrong.

He certainly couldn’t trust a monkey’s promise; despite its simple mind, it didn’t necessarily mean it would keep its word.

On the contrary, these monkeys might attack them at any moment; they were like primitive barbarians, and barbarians were not known for faith or promises.

Su Changxing maintained a calm demeanor, tossing the leather ring to the ”Monkey King” and saying, ”Put this on, and we have a basis for cooperation. Remember, we are stronger than you.”

The tone carried a hint of intimidation.

The ”Monkey King” looked at the leather ring in its hand, then at Su Changxing. If it could avoid fighting these humans, it would, mainly because it might not win. The human in front of it was stronger.

The ”Monkey King” slowly put the leather ring around its neck and looked at Su Changxing, saying, ”As you wish, human.”

At this moment, a gentle smile appeared on Su Changxing’s face, exposing the cunning nature of humans to the fullest.
