Ten years later, a wandering Shinigami named Yusuke Uchiha arrived at the Seireitei.

In the Gotei 13 headquarters’ main hall, all the current captains, led by Captain-Commander Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni, were assembled.

Standing calmly in the center of the hall was Yusuke Uchiha, dressed in ordinary samurai attire.

Yusuke Uchiha still wore glasses that concealed his eyes’ pupils, and a katana hung at his waist, quite unlike Ryūjin Jakka in style.

Yusuke Uchiha’s plan was to join the Gotei 13 to better understand Soul Society, particularly Kisuke Urahara and Aizen.

While Yusuke Uchiha was generally familiar with the events of the Shinigami world, Shinigami lifespans are long, and significant events span centuries. To uncover hidden truths or intervene, precise timing is crucial.

Therefore, Yusuke Uchiha decided to personally join the Gotei 13 as a captain to avoid missing important events.

The Seireitei welcomes the addition of Shinigami, especially powerful ones.

For instance, when the wandering Shinigami Kenpachi Zaraki joined, Captain-Commander Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni, recognizing his potential, readily accepted him and even offered personal guidance in swordsmanship.

However, Kenpachi Zaraki’s personality hindered his integration into the group, leading to friction with his teammates. Furthermore, the Central 46, harboring reservations, prohibited Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni from providing him with further instruction, creating an opportunity for Yusuke Uchiha to recruit him.

Upon hearing that a Shinigami who had mastered Bankai wished to join the Gotei 13, Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni immediately summoned all the captains to jointly evaluate and assess this Shinigami.

As the captains scrutinized Yusuke Uchiha, he in turn observed the current captain lineup, gaining an understanding of the Seireitei’s current leadership.

Since Aizen’s Hollowfication experiments on several captains and lieutenants hadn’t yet occurred, members of the Visored, such as Shūsuke Amagai and Kensei Muguruma, were still present within the Gotei 13. Kisuke Urahara and Yoruichi Shihōin also remained as captains of the 12th and 2nd Divisions, respectively.

Among all the captains, the one who most captivated Yusuke Uchiha’s attention was, naturally, Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni, the Captain-Commander.

Sharing the Zanpakutō Ryūjin Jakka, he would inevitably become Yusuke Uchiha’s destined adversary.

Gazing upon the imposing figure before him—a man of formidable stature and commanding presence—Yusuke Uchiha addressed him with a courteous smile. ”My name is Yusuke Uchiha. I am a Shinigami who has been wandering Soul Society. I have come today with the intention of joining the Gotei 13.”

”What is your purpose in seeking to join the Gotei 13?” Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni inquired, his eyes narrowed in contemplation.

”I have been living in seclusion within Soul Society, dedicating myself to rigorous self-cultivation, until quite recently I conceived the notion of joining the Gotei 13,” Yusuke Uchiha responded, his voice measured and calm. ”The Gotei 13 serves as a cornerstone of stability within Soul Society, and given my admittedly modest capabilities, I aspire to contribute my efforts to the preservation of this stability.”

Subsequently, the assembled captains proceeded to pose a series of inquiries regarding Yusuke Uchiha’s origins, delving into aspects such as his family background and the unique capabilities of his Zanpakutō. To each of these inquiries, Yusuke Uchiha responded with carefully prepared and meticulously crafted answers.

”You claim to have mastered Bankai,” Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni stated, his voice measured and deliberate. ”Therefore, it is incumbent upon you to demonstrate the extent of your power. Should your abilities prove to be commensurate with the demands of the position, the Gotei 13 would not hesitate to bestow upon you the esteemed rank of captain.”

Yusuke Uchiha was fully prepared for the demonstration of his abilities that Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni had proposed, though the precise nature of the assessment remained unknown to him.

Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni then proceeded to elucidate the prerequisites for attaining the rank of captain within the Gotei 13.

”Within the Gotei 13, there exist two distinct pathways to achieving the rank of captain,” Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni explained. ”The first involves successfully completing the rigorous captain’s examination, conducted under the watchful gaze of the Central 46 and the esteemed members of the Gotei 13. The second involves securing recommendations from six or more captains, coupled with the endorsement of at least three additional captains.”

”As an outsider seeking to attain the rank of captain, you are obligated to pursue the first course of action,” Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni continued. ”Therefore, I inquire as to whether you are willing to undertake this examination.”

Having concluded his explanation, Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni opened his narrowed eyes, his gaze fixed intently upon Yusuke Uchiha, and unleashed a wave of overwhelming spiritual pressure, intending to gauge Yusuke Uchiha’s resilience.

However, Yusuke Uchiha remained utterly unfazed by this display of formidable power.

With a subtle adjustment of his spectacles, Yusuke Uchiha responded with a calm smile. ”Given that I have journeyed to the Seireitei, it is my sincere intention to contribute to the well-being of Soul Society in the capacity of a captain,” he stated. ”Therefore, I readily accept this assessment of my abilities.”

Upon hearing Yusuke Uchiha’s affirmation, Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni once again closed his eyes, a satisfied nod betraying his approval.

At present, the position of captain of the 10th Division of the Gotei 13 was vacant, and Rukia Kuchiki, captain of the 6th Division, was in the process of formally tendering her resignation. Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni was indeed in search of suitable candidates to fill these two vacant positions.

The timely arrival of Yusuke Uchiha had thus provided him with a solution to a rather pressing predicament.

On the following day, Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni made the necessary arrangements for Yusuke Uchiha’s assessment of abilities.

In the Gotei 13’s designated arena for martial combat, a considerable number of Gotei 13 members were present, along with representatives dispatched by the Central 46 to bear witness to Yusuke Uchiha’s captaincy examination.

The examination itself was remarkably straightforward: Yusuke Uchiha was to engage in a sparring match against a captain from a different division.

It was not incumbent upon Yusuke Uchiha to emerge victorious in this contest; rather, he was merely required to demonstrate the requisite strength and capabilities to effectively discharge the responsibilities of a captain.

As Yusuke Uchiha stood poised in the center of the arena, his opponent made a confident entrance.

The captain who stood before Yusuke Uchiha possessed a striking head of silver hair, a physique of exceptional strength and muscular definition, and he had chosen to don a Shihakusho that was both sleeveless and featured a deep V-neck, thereby showcasing his well-developed pectoral and bicep muscles.

Furthermore, prominently displayed upon his exposed chest was a tattoo bearing the numerals ’69’.

The numerals ’69’ did not represent a sexual position, but rather held a deeper significance. The numeral ’6’ served as a reference to the numerical component of his surname, while the numeral ’9’ denoted the division that he commanded.

This powerfully built captain was none other than Kensei Muguruma, a future member of the Visored, who currently held the esteemed position of captain of the 9th Division, responsible for overseeing the security of all prisons within the Seireitei.

Were he to divest himself of his captain’s haori and Shihakusho, and instead don camouflage trousers and a tightly fitting vest, he could easily be mistaken for a member of an elite special forces unit.

Observing the captain before him, a Shinigami whose Reiatsu was considered the standard unit of measurement for assessing the spiritual pressure of other captains, Yusuke Uchiha found himself intrigued to ascertain the precise magnitude of his own Reiatsu in relation to that of Kensei Muguruma.

Upon Kensei Muguruma’s entrance into the arena, the atmosphere among the spectators in the stands immediately intensified, particularly among the members of the 9th Division, who erupted into a chorus of enthusiastic cheers to bolster their captain’s morale.

”Captain of the 9th Division, Kensei Muguruma,” the announcer declared.

”Yusuke Uchiha,” Yusuke Uchiha responded in turn.

Following the exchange of names, Chōjirō Tadaoki Sasakibe, the esteemed lieutenant of the 1st Division, stepped forward to formally commence the examination.

Gazing intently at Yusuke Uchiha, who maintained a composed smile throughout, Kensei Muguruma found himself unable to fully ascertain the depth of Yusuke Uchiha’s abilities.

Perceiving that Yusuke Uchiha displayed no inclination to initiate the engagement, Kensei Muguruma promptly drew the Zanpakutō from his waist and launched a swift and decisive attack against Yusuke Uchiha.
