The Empress Wants a Divorce Every Day

Chapter 157: Chapter 156: Heh, Who’s Afraid of Whom

On the bed, Rong Ling kept silent, his head lowered as he continued eating while Feng Qing occasionally served him dishes, her demeanor exceptionally submissive.

Rong Ling glanced at her, still somewhat unaccustomed. Had this woman learned her lesson and stopped causing trouble?

Feng Qing caught the meaning in his eyes and immediately rolled her eyes. If not for the thirty planks hanging over her head, would she willingly serve him?

Ha.

Rong Ling looked at her deeply; it seemed the person was still the same. Her arrogant and unruly attitude hadn’t changed, just restrained, like a kitten retracting its claws that would eventually come out to scratch.

Thinking of this, Rong Ling couldn’t help but curl his lips.

In the room, Nan Sheng continued his report, ”There’s news from the palace that the Little Emperor is about to hold a selection, which is the Empress Dowager’s idea. Firstly, to expand the Six Palaces and create an imperial bloodline; secondly, to draw in the court’s ministers to align with the Little Emperor. Recently, the Little Emperor took the regency and didn’t gain any benefits.”

With Nan Sheng’s words, Rong Ling sneered coldly, ”Such a cunning scheme.”

But clearly, this is the Empress Dowager’s idea. When Rong Ling thought of her, he thought of her covetousness towards him, his whole body exuding a chilling aura.

Feng Qing, noticing his expression, secretly rejoiced, ”Seeing you unhappy makes me happy.”

Yet in her happiness, she got carried away, so Rong Ling immediately sensed her schadenfreude. He raised his eyes and looked coldly at Feng Qing.

”Ha, enjoying my misfortune, are you? Perhaps you don’t know that when I’m unhappy, it’s those around me who suffer?”

Rong Ling squinted at Feng Qing, slowly pulling a smile devoid of warmth.

Feng Qing shuddered instinctively, attempting to find an excuse, but Rong Ling spoke first: ”Right, enjoying my misfortune, should you not be punished? I recall saying earlier, if you make trouble again, you’ll be whipped thirty times.”

Feng Qing immediately felt her backside ache, instinctively reaching out to tug Rong Ling’s sleeve, crying out.

”Prince, I’m wronged, more than Dou E! I’m not laughing at the Prince; I’m laughing at the Empress Dowager. Clearly, she’s like an old toad wanting to eat swan meat, at her age, coveting what she shouldn’t desire. What a joke.”

”A person of the Prince’s qualities is out of her league—shameless. I despise her in my heart.”

After speaking, Feng Qing quickly glanced at Rong Ling, raising one hand, ”Prince, I can swear to the heavens, I’m telling the truth.”

The ugly little face looked sincerely at Rong Ling, even the gray spiders on her face appeared earnest, making Rong Ling suddenly find it hard to look directly at her.

In the room, Nan Sheng also found it hard to look at, quickly reporting the next news, ”Reporting to the Prince, I’ve received news that three days later, the Heir of Prince Su and the Heir of Prince Chu will enter the capital.”

Rong Ling said indifferently, ”Let them come, I’ve missed my nephews.”

The capital will be livelier now; if the Little Emperor isn’t troubled, why should he be? Ultimately, matters of the Dayan court are the Little Emperor’s domain.

As long as Dayan stands, he sees no need to meddle in court affairs.

Rong Ling’s mind was surprisingly calm, slowly eating his dinner, instructing Feng Qing to prepare medicinal bath herbs as he’d like to soak.

As for the earlier schadenfreude of Feng Qing, Rong Ling didn’t pursue it further. After dinner, the medicinal bath was prepared, and Feng Qing helped Rong Ling to the bath chamber of Yijing Courtyard.

In the bathing chamber, Feng Qing spoke with a face full of respect, ”Prince, would you like the Nan Feng guard to assist you with the medicinal bath?”

Upon hearing Feng Qing’s words, Rong Ling raised his brows and snorted coldly, ”You are my Princess Consort, to serve...”

Before Rong Ling finished, Feng Qing gently spoke, ”Come, Prince, time for your bath.”
