The Empress Wants a Divorce Every Day

Chapter 99: Chapter 98: Princess Consort, Something Happened Again

Rong Ling was the youngest son of the Late Emperor. After he was born, only two years passed before his elderly father died. In fact, the reason his father took his mother, the concubine, into the palace was reportedly because his Late Emperor brother liked her.

Rong Ling’s father did not want his Late Emperor brother to marry his mother into the palace; at the time, her family held significant military power. Out of fear that external relatives would seize control and overthrow the Rong family dynasty, his father took the first step by marrying her into the palace as a concubine.

Later, using his mother and his own life as leverage, to coerce her family into relinquishing their military power, ensuring their own safety.

After his father passed away, the Late Emperor’s brother ascended the throne. But, during the escort of the Late Emperor’s coffin to Huguo Temple, his mother vanished.

Seeing Rong Ling was young, the Late Emperor’s brother raised him by his side, becoming more like a father to him. ℴ

The Late Emperor’s brother was always in poor health and had few concubines, only fathering three princes. The eldest son was born with uneven legs, a cripple.

The second son was born to a palace maid without power or influence, entirely lacking support from his mother’s family. And this second son was also indulgent in pleasures and lust.

Later, the legitimate youngest daughter from the Duke Dingguo Mansion was married into the palace as a concubine, giving birth to the third son who became the New Emperor. Then, seeing his time was short, when his third son was ten, the Late Emperor’s brother fell gravely ill.

Before dying, the Late Emperor’s brother intended to pass the throne to him. How could he accept his Late Emperor brother’s throne? So he firmly refused, promising to protect and guard the Dayan dynasty for him.

He guarded for ten years, yet he hadn’t anticipated ending up with such a fate.

Rong Ling felt a desolate emptiness within, slowly closing his eyes, realizing it was indeed time for him to let go, pondering the pointlessness of his persistence.

Outside the room, Feng Qing wrote down the antidote formula for Furong Drunk. Divine Doctor Zhang glanced at it and praised it with enthusiasm.

”Excellent, marvelous, marvelous.”

He handed the antidote formula to Nan Feng, saying: ”Immediately gather the herbs according to the formula. There are three ingredients that are rare and hard to find.”

Nan Feng was not worried, saying: ”Rest assured, Divine Doctor Zhang, we can find the herbs.”

Rong Ling and Abbot Xianzhao of Huguo Temple were close despite their age difference. Huguo Temple, a national temple, was rich in hidden medicinal treasures, so Nan Feng was not concerned about any issue with finding the herbs.

He took the formula and began checking. Whatever herbs the Prince Mansion had, he ordered someone to fetch them. For those they didn’t have, he sent Nan Xuan promptly to Xiangguo Temple outside the city. Once everything was arranged, Nan Feng also arranged for Divine Doctor Zhang and Feng Qing to rest.

He stayed to investigate Rong Ling’s poisoning, knowing he would not have much use staying now, Feng Qing took Si Qi and Si Hua to rest.

The two young maids were visibly worried, refusing to leave when Feng Qing instructed them to rest, so Feng Qing had them monitor Rong Ling’s situation.

Then, she washed up briefly and went to bed.

But just as she was falling asleep, urgent footsteps sounded outside. Si Qi and Si Hua rushed in. The moment they reached her side, they started exclaiming: ”Princess Consort, something’s wrong!”

”Princess Consort, wake up quickly.”

Feng Qing reluctantly opened her eyes, feeling quite irritated. As she had always had a temper upon waking and hadn’t slept well, she looked coldly at the two maids.

”What’s happened now?”

This time, Si Hua spoke first: ”Nanfeng Guard has confirmed that the reason Prince was poisoned occurred when he drank tea at our courtyard.”

”Was there an issue with the tea?”
