The Empress Wants a Divorce Every Day

Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Come, Let Me Hold You

The reason Feng Qing chose these two items was that if unexpected situations arose later on, she could pawn them for use in emergencies.

Originally, she didn’t want to take Rong Ling’s things, but for the convenience of escape, she specifically chose two lightweight items; the paintings and jewelry from her dowry before were too large and not easy to carry.

If she left with large items, it would be easy for the city-patrolling soldiers to notice, so she opted for two simple and easy-to-carry things.

After thinking about these, Feng Qing then turned her thoughts to her own face. Previously, she hadn’t paid attention to this issue, but upon going out today, she discovered a major problem.

The spider on her face was too conspicuous, making her identity easy to recognize wherever she went.

So she had to find a way to cover up the spider when she returned home.

While plotting, Feng Qing spoke to Si Qi, saying, ”I didn’t sleep well this morning, so I’ll go to bed early tonight. Do not disturb me.”

”I understand, Princess Consort. Rest assured, I will tell the young maids in the courtyard not to make any loud noises tonight.”

”Alright.”

After returning to the Regent Prince Mansion, Feng Qing wandered around for a while, picked some necessary flowers and herbs, common medicinal plants, and tinkered with them back at the Purple Bamboo Pavilion.

Currently, Si Qi was the one attending to her. A second-class maid had to be summoned to enter her room.

Feng Qing casually found an excuse to send Si Qi out, then worked in the room for a while, concocting some facial liquid. Because the spider on her face was gray, Feng Qing decided to darken her face; with a dark face, the spider wouldn’t be noticeable. She then applied some medicinal liquid for wounds on half of her face, so no one would notice the spider.

Everything was prepared, just waiting for nightfall.

Once it was dark, Feng Qing had Si Qi call someone to bring dinner. After eating, she pretended to be tired and wanted to sleep, not allowing anyone to wake her.

Si Qi had no idea she planned to leave. She responded softly, and before leaving, told Feng Qing that she would go see Si Hua and have the young maids keep watch ahead.

Feng Qing heard this and it aligned with her intentions, so she immediately agreed.

After Si Qi left, she swiftly applied the concoction, changed clothes, tied a few medical books to herself, took the two pieces of jewelry she bought at Qianjiao Building, and finally quietly pushed open the window, climbing out.

At this moment, the sky was dark, with lanterns lit all over the Regent Prince Mansion. In the bright light, shadows occasionally passed by. Feng Qing deliberately chose dark clothing, so others only took her for a little maid, not paying attention to her.

While wandering before, she noticed a spot at the juncture between the front and back courtyards of the mansion where no one seemed to be patrolling. The guards in the front thought it was the rear guards’ territory, and those in the back thought it was the front guards’.

This gave Rong Qing an opportunity, and there was even a not-too-tall tree within the courtyard wall there.

Feng Qing could climb the tree onto the wall and then jump out, from then on, she could roam freely, and after some time, Rong Ling would let her go too.

Such a minor figure as her wasn’t worth his effort; the more Feng Qing thought about it, the happier she felt. Her steps became lighter as she quickly dashed towards the southwest, rapidly reaching that tree, climbing it and getting onto the wall.

When she stood on the wall, a happy smile surfaced on her face, she could finally leave.

However, just as she turned around, she heard a chilling and sinister voice from outside the courtyard wall: ”Come, jump down, I’ll catch you.”
