The Empress Wants a Divorce Every Day

Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Imperial Matrimonial Decree

The Emperor Rong Che was afraid Feng Yao would reveal what he had said earlier in front of everyone, so he immediately darkened his expression and said, ”Let’s handle this matter according to Uncle’s suggestion. Come, send the Lin Family back to the Marquis Jing’an Mansion.”

Two eunuchs rushed in from outside the hall and immediately carried away the unconscious Lin Family.

The Empress Feng Yao, seated at the top, couldn’t utter a single word, her face ashen.

At the lower part of the hall, Marquis Jing’an also looked grim, unable to say anything.

In the hall, many people cautiously glanced at the Regent Prince Rong Ling, who truly was extremely ruthless. Killing someone is merely a momentary act, yet he devised this move. The Empress’s mother was demoted to a lowly concubine, and the people of the Marquis Mansion were ordered to watch her.

The meaning of these words couldn’t be clearer. If anything happened to the Lin Family, the Marquis Mansion would be in trouble.

So, this lowly concubine couldn’t be allowed to die, putting both the Marquis Mansion and the Empress over a fire.

Everyone grew increasingly wary of the Regent Prince, yet Rong Ling didn’t stop there.

He punished the Lin Family once more, then turned his head to the Little Emperor Rong Che and said.

”Your Majesty, the Marquis Jing’an currently doesn’t have a wife. Why not betroth General Gu’s daughter, Miss Gu, to the Marquis.”

The Little Emperor was momentarily confused and asked, ”Which General Gu?”

Rong Ling raised an eyebrow and replied, ”Your Majesty has forgotten General Gu Yuan? General Gu is a brave warrior in our Dayan army, born with divine power, and has slain countless enemies. Currently stationed at the northwest border, his daughter is of marriageable age. I believe betrothing her to the Marquis Jing’an can soothe General Gu’s worries, show the soldiers at the border your imperial kindness, and the Marquis, who has just lost his wife, surely deserves your comfort, Your Majesty.”

After Rong Ling finished speaking, everyone’s expression in the hall turned peculiar. They instinctively turned their gaze to the lower part of the hall, where a mother and her three daughters sat near the entrance.

The mother was gentle and elegant, a lady of refined beauty. Yet, the three daughters beside her were almost unbearable to gaze upon.

The daughters did not resemble their mother but looked strikingly like General Gu Yuan, tall and robust, with big heads and faces, and poor skin. Most importantly, these three daughters were exceptionally unreasonable, quick to resort to violence.

It so happened that the three daughters inherited General Gu’s divine power, so ever since they arrived in the Imperial City, numerous noble family sons suffered beatings at the hands of the three sisters.

General Gu had originally sent his wife and daughters to the capital hoping to find good husbands for his daughters. Little did he know that in the Imperial City, not a single person dared to marry a daughter from the Gu family.

Thus, the eldest daughter of the Gu family remained at home until the age of twenty without marrying.

Now, the Prince Regent actually proposed for the Emperor to issue an order betrothing the eldest daughter of the Gu family as a wife to the Marquis Jing’an.

People near the lower part of the hall looked at Marquis Feng Lei Ting and then at the Gu family’s eldest daughter, sympathy rising within them.

The Marquis, although old, remained elegant and tasteful, whereas the eldest daughter of the Gu family resembled a rustic girl from the countryside.

No matter how one looked at it, they simply didn’t match.

Marquis Jing’an, Feng Lei Ting, realized at this moment that he had offended the Regent Prince, which was why he was being dealt with so harshly.

Feng Lei Ting felt the blood rushing to his head, his entire body filled with urgency and anger, yet he knew he couldn’t lose his temper. He had to restrain himself, stood up, cupped his fists, and solemnly said, ”To reply to the Prince, I have no intention of marrying again. Thank the Prince for his concern, I am deeply grateful.”

Unfortunately, Rong Ling didn’t even glance at her but instead turned with a faint smile to look at the Empress Dowager seated at the top of the hall.
