Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Lin Haifeng’s words left Wen Yu speechless. He squinted his eyes, stared at the monitor for a long while, and then nodded.

”Thank you...”

After speaking, Wen Yu picked up his coat and said, ”I’ll leave the rest to you, I need to go back and catch up on sleep,” before pushing the door open and leaving.

At the door, Dragon Two was standing respectfully with a sealed kraft paper bag in hand.

”Sir, the Eternal Cage has been set up. The coordinates are in the bag, along with the entry key... As for the construction workers, they’ve all been silenced!”

”Dismissed.”

Wen Yu remained expressionless, then vanished into a beam of light.

...

Returning to his residence, Wen Yu fell onto the soft bed. The comfortable, soft bedding made him instantly relax, and shortly after, accompanied by the sound of snoring, he seemed to have fallen into a dream.

However, in another part of the tiered battleground, another deeply hidden Wen Yu suddenly opened his eyes.

”Boom!”

With a burst of soil and an eruption of dirt, a figure emerged from the ground of District 9’s mainland bloc number 634.

This Wen Yu was skinny all over, having apparently not eaten for a long time. However, as air rushed into his nostrils, in just a moment, the malnourished appearance vanished completely.

Wen Yu quickly identified his direction, then the dark power flowed, and he disappeared into the distance.

...

Headquarters of the Independents Mutual Aid Federation.

At this moment, Bai was busily reviewing documents when suddenly, his pen stopped. Sensing something, he turned to see a cloaked figure, with hidden features, gazing at him.

”You seem to have gained quite a bit of weight.”

The familiar tone made Bai gently shake his head.

”Alright, alright, I know I’ve been living quite indulgently lately... You said the same thing a few days ago, no need for you to remind me again. Why don’t you tell me what you want this time?”

While speaking, Bai casually picked up a document beside him and tossed it to Wen Yu.

”Take a look, some of the troublesome Demon Fiends you marked in Yanjing have been cleared out. Seems like you’re not here for that, are you?”

Wen Yu stayed silent for a moment, then nodded.

”I want to borrow the Boundary Cracking Device to travel to the Demon Realm.”

”Don’t you have one yourself?”

Bai was slightly doubtful, but Wen Yu just said, ”No need to trouble yourself.” Seeing this, Bai, although puzzled by this Wen Yu’s somewhat different demeanor from the ”mysterious boss hidden within the Independents Mutual Aid Federation,” couldn’t be bothered to delve into the details. He casually touched his space ring, retrieved the Boundary Cracking Device, and opened the portal to the Demon Realm.

”Do you need me to accompany you? You know, staying here is quite boring.”

”No need.”

Wen Yu replied briefly, then stepped through the Demon Realm’s Gate.

As Wen Yu’s figure disappeared, Bai’s eyes sparkled as he looked at the Boundary Cracking Device, and after a while, he gently shook his head.

There’s a difference between being uninterested and being indifferent.

...

Demon Realm.

The sky remained dim and full of cracks, yet super experts of a certain level could clearly sense the enormous changes that had occurred in the Demon Realm a few days ago.

The Demon Realm seemed to become whole, stronger...

It’s an indescribable sensation, but its impact was quite significant.

For instance, mineral deposits were reborn, some areas once again became valuable for development, and some rare treasures emerged once more...

In this barren and chaotic land of the Demon Realm, these things are enough to spark a small-scale war, and under the guidance of certain interested parties, these ”small wars” led to more chain reactions.

The Demon Realm is not a utopia for united collaboration on grand enterprises. While this discredits some invaded worlds, it is indeed a fact— the military’s seven top commanders are outwardly united but inwardly divided, with overlapping territories and varying personal relationships. Even if they reach consensus on major events, when factoring in a plotter called ”Demon Spirit,” the stories within could genuinely fill volumes.

The entanglements are complex, and there are plenty of things that breed annoyance.

For instance, an elite Demon Tribe individual named Yu Wen received a secret order.

Assist the Black River Sovereign and give Legas a lesson!

Under Philip’s leadership of the overt Topmost 7-Member Council, the top seven didn’t allow mutual warfare to ignite a major war in the Demon Realm itself. However, Philip couldn’t be bothered with smaller disputes, and with the recent rise of Demon Spirit challenging his dominance, minor conflicts within the Legas faction naturally became even less conspicuous.

”Captain, here’s the list you requested.”

The vice captain extended a large hand, handing Wen Yu a thin slip of paper, and Wen Yu looked up.

It clearly listed the specific targets within the Legas faction that Yu Wen’s elite squad should hunt down and destroy.

After a moment, Wen Yu handed the intelligence back to the vice captain, then spoke.

”Fan Sai, Baro, go eliminate Mayor Barade of Pierde City; Lincoln, go take down the magic power plant in Pierde City.”

Pierde City, the third-largest city of the Legas faction and the core industrial city of the Legas faction.

”Captain, what about you?”

The vice captain, named Lincoln, cautiously asked Wen Yu, earning a roll of Wen Yu’s eyes.

”I naturally have a bigger target. Anyway, we’re just teaching Legas a lesson this time, aren’t we? Strictly speaking, neither we nor any other elite squad have specific targets, so, everyone, after completing the mission, have a bit of fun...”

The squad members all let out knowing laughs.

Then, Wen Yu contacted several other teams, coordinating the start time of the operation, and the squad members dispersed throughout Pierde City to hide.

Originally, according to the superior’s mission goal, this operation was merely a simple sabotage mission, aimed as a revenge action by the Black River Sovereign against Legas for showing ”disrespect to seniors” at the last meeting.

The reason was simple, and the manner of action was in line with the Black River Sovereign’s ”petty” character.

Yet Wen Yu found an opportunity within it.

...

Night fell.

Wen Yu, cloaked in black, walked along the wide streets of Pierde City, where a variety of Demon Tribe beings passed by, exuding an odor imperceptible to normal Demon Fiends.

The living environment of the Demon Realm is much worse compared to Earth, but decades of undercover experience had long accustomed this Wen Yu carbon copy known as ”Yu Wen” to every aspect of the Demon Realm.
