Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

It’s not about having feelings for the Demon Realm...

It’s just that his pawn, his fully controllable, fully dominant Sequence Number 1... requires time to grow.

And he’s afraid, he’s afraid the Demon Lord might break free from this natural burden—the Demon Realm—and thus have no more ties, fearlessly coming to directly seek the fusion with the Celestial Gift Stone.

Still the same saying, the Dominator doesn’t need to bet on that seventy percent success rate!

”Actually, there’s another way...”

”What way?”

”As long as you can take my place and continue the existence of the Demon Realm, I will willingly self-destruct, leaving the Celestial Gift Stone for you, what’s the harm?”

”Alright, I agree!”

”No, you won’t!”

”Heh heh heh heh... You do understand me... How could I possibly take over this mess of yours? If it weren’t for the safety measures, I would have long ago...”

”Long ago what?”

”Long ago...”

”Long ago barged in, seized my half of the Celestial Gift Stone, gained full dominion over the God Stone, and become the sole being in this world? The true deity of this world? Is that right?”

”...”

”Is it really that important?”

The Dominator heard this and instead laughed...

”You seem to have forgotten how you spoke to me back in Mil’s Big World!”

”Hand over the God Stone and spare my life? That’s right, isn’t it...”

”We’re all cut from the same cloth, and now that you can’t, you say these things to me? Is this way of playing really interesting?”

Faced with the Dominator’s counter, the Demon Lord was immediately speechless.

This has nothing to do with morality, ideals, persistence... and other virtuous characteristics.

...

”The Demon Lord’s situation?”

Wen Yu frowned as he looked at Lin Haifeng, seemingly unable to understand how the current situation was connected to the Demon Lord’s situation.

”This isn’t shown in the materials, but summarizing based on your past experiences, I found an interesting point.”

”You’re different from Tang Haofei...”

”I’ve known that for a long time, he’s a pure and untainted protagonist, while I’m just an unexpected product. Honestly, I’ve never really understood what particular qualities I possess that made the Demon Lord choose me. You know, in the previous life, my strength was simply unbearable to look at, and my insight was limited. As for personality, to put it unkindly, in the apocalypse, anyone who lived longer than me had a tendency towards being decisive and ruthless.”

”My rebirth, in hindsight, seems like an accident...”

Wen Yu mocked himself, but didn’t expect Lin Haifeng to immediately respond to Wen Yu’s deduction.

”That’s right, your rebirth was indeed an accident...”

Wen Yu was stunned.

”The Demon Lord slipped through the cracks... When the Dominator and Earth’s will were rebirthing Tang Haofei, he forcibly wedged you into the Rebirth Army. Honestly, if the Demon Lord had chosen me, and I had become a rebirther, just having the same twenty years of apocalypse experience as Tang Haofei, the world as it is now would be vastly different. Truth be told, you really don’t have the virtues or abilities to deserve the rebirth spot.”

These words were indeed somewhat unpleasant...

However, Wen Yu couldn’t argue with the dead, especially since Lin Haifeng was right.

If the Demon Lord had reborn Lin Haifeng, how would this world be now?

Probably a hundred times better than it is now... and Lin Haifeng’s individual strength likely wouldn’t be inferior to Wen Yu’s now.

After all, this rebirth cheat is really quite huge.

”So, do you know why the Demon Lord chose you?”

Lin Haifeng asked again, and Wen Yu just shook his head.

”I don’t know.”

”Because he didn’t choose at all... You were just randomly picked, the lucky one struck by the package.”

...

Silence persisted for countless ages.

Until a sigh echoed in the void, the Dominator spoke.

”Wen Yu...”

”I just went through everything on Earth in my mind and found something amiss.”

”That Wen Yu seems to have some issues. Huh, I should have noticed before, his appearance is very strange, very strange. Last life, he had no fame whatsoever, yet in this life, he has suddenly risen, even not inferior to my appointed Sequence Number 1, the true protagonist. Is this your doing?”

The Demon Lord remained silent for a moment, then spoke.

”Yes, his rebirth was arranged by me.”

”You arranged it?”

Upon hearing ”my arrangement,” the Dominator sneered, glancing at the battered Demon Lord, shaking his head slightly.

”Ten worlds ago, If you claimed you could arrange rebirth, I’d believe it. But in this world, I don’t! You simply don’t have the ability to manipulate the flow of time.”

”Let me think... You must have randomly tagged along when I was rebirthing Tang Haofei?”

The Demon Lord remained silent, acknowledging this fact...

...

”According to the above deductions, the Demon Lord’s power has fallen to the point where he can’t even achieve normal rebirth anymore. He can’t even choose his own rebirth target, thus the package dropped on your head.”

”That’s really bad news...”

Wen Yu pouted to mock—his big backer turned out to be a frail old chicken, even unable to lift a knife?

What’s there to play then...

”No, it’s the best outcome!”

Lin Haifeng immediately retorted Wen Yu’s mock.

”Do you know, when is a beast most dangerous?”

Wen Yu was taken aback, then nodded.

”At the moment of death!”

”Based on the deduction two years ago, the Dominator cannot directly strike the Demon Lord, meaning the Demon Lord surely possesses some means to counter the Dominator. At the very least, he can make the Dominator wary, enough not to act rashly. On the Demon Lord’s dying day, you will be his last hope, and he cannot not protect you!”

”In other words, the Demon Lord’s severe injury and near death, for you, is actually great news!”

Wen Yu pondered, and at length, also agreed with a nod.

”Moreover, what’s more interesting is... the Dominator also knows that the Demon Lord is about to fail!”

”Do you know why he would have Tang Haofei reborn?”

Lin Haifeng became progressively fluent, while Wen Yu merely sat listening attentively.

”Because he knows the Demon Lord’s time is running out, afraid of the Demon Lord going all out in desperation, he wants, in this world, our world, to have a final confrontation with the Demon Lord! Only when the Demon Lord reaches despair will he give up the Demon Realm. As long as Tang Haofei grows up before the Demon Lord chooses mutual destruction and kills the Demon Lord, the Dominator’s purpose will be fulfilled.”

”As for whether Tang Haofei can, with normal strength, kill the Demon Lord... Personally, I think it’s possible, because nowadays, the Demon Lord’s absolute power... can only be described as ridiculously weak...”
