Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”I don’t know.”

Lin Haifeng answered crisply.

”There’s really no way to guess this, but based on known intelligence, He shouldn’t be able to go. If He could go, we wouldn’t be involved.”

Wen Yu remained silent.

...

”You’re right. If you hadn’t placed a heavy bet on Tongtian, at that time, Tongtian wouldn’t have come looking for me, but rather you... heh heh, in that scenario, you would have been finished during the Heart Lock event, and I would have inherited all the authority of the Celestial Gift Stone, becoming the sole ruler of this world!”

The Demon Lord did not respond to this supposition, He just stayed quiet, until the Dominator spoke again.

”But you know yourself that you’re merely clinging on to life. Without Lin Haotian, without Tongtian, I still have Tang Haofei, and even Wen Yu. You see, this time, fate is not on your side!”

”In your weakest moment, Earth coincidentally produced two super-powered experts of sufficient level. Although they are not as strong as Lin Haotian and Tongtian, you...”

The Dominator took a more detailed look at his adversary...

That flame of life, akin to a candle in a storm.

The Dominator didn’t continue with his words, instead shifting the topic.

”If you ask me, you should just hand over the half piece of the Celestial Gift Stone within you. Anyway, you see no hope of winning... and I have no chance of losing.”

After the Dominator finished speaking, the Demon Lord coughed lightly twice, as if the previous conversation had tired Him.

After a pause, the Demon Lord spoke again.

”You can come and take it yourself...”

The provocative remark seemed to anger the Dominator, as He took a step forward, but upon feeling an inexplicable tug within Him, He chuckled softly and returned to His previous position.

”Playing like this is a bit bloody.”

”What, are you afraid of an old man whose candle is about to be extinguished?”

”Not afraid, just... it’s not worth it. When the two fragments meet, the Celestial Gift Stone would re-fuse. My chances of gaining control are seventy percent against your thirty percent, but from my perspective, I clearly have a method with a one hundred percent success rate... all it requires is time...”

The Dominator paused after saying this.

”Time is on my side!”

Upon hearing the Dominator’s words, the Demon Lord only smiled.

”It’s a pity that my time, the time of the Demon Realm, is running out too...”

...

Five years after Wen Yu assumed the post of Commander-in-Chief of Yanjing.

”Based on the intelligence compiled from the Heavenly Palace, Heart Scar, Guli, Mier, Wuhua Grotto Heavens, Reno... as well as your provided history of the Demon Realm, we can already come to some conclusions.”

”Starting from the beginning, after the Double Kings War, the Demon Lord established the Demon Palace to guard the Demon Realm’s Core and maintain the continuity of the Demon Realm. The Dominator fled, and I speculate that He most likely escaped to Mil’s Big World, staying there temporarily to recover from the injuries sustained in the battle against the Demon Lord.”

”But after the Demon Lord sorted out the chaos of the Demon Realm, He remained uneasy about the Dominator, or even wanted the Dominator’s half of the Celestial Gift Stone! What followed was the pursuit. In my understanding, when the apocalypse began in Mil’s Big World, the Demon Lord wasn’t particularly seeking Mil’s Big World’s Origin Energy; He merely wanted to rid Himself of the Dominator, a critical threat, and seize the Celestial Gift Stone! The Dominator, his injuries not yet healed, or maybe for other reasons, decided to have a match against the Demon Lord in Mil’s Big World.”

”And thus the sequence came forth – initially, the Dominator perhaps aimed to unite all forces in Mil’s Big World to resist the Demon Lord and the Demon Tribe. Indeed, this was likely the initial reason for the sequence’s creation.”

”Initially, it wasn’t Mil’s Big World’s Augus pursuing the Dominator, but rather the Demon Tribe’s army!”

”Yet evidently at that time, the Demon Tribe Army didn’t have the power to finish the severely injured Dominator, so in the first era of Mil’s Big World, the Demon Lord’s plan failed. He then initiated the second step – Rebirth.”

”The Demon Lord rebirthed Sequence Number 1 of Mil’s Big World – Augus, to pursue the still wounded Dominator. Though unsuccessful, this action provided the Dominator with the insight for retaliation. Starting with Lin Haotian, the Dominator gained control over the life and death of all professionists in the invaded world, while also selecting the Heaven’s Pride level Sequence Number 1, ordering or threatening them to go to the Demon Palace and assassinate the Demon Lord.”

”What they vied for was nothing but the root of all these events, the supreme treasure known as the Celestial Gift Stone.”

”In Mil’s Big World, the Dominator’s goal in setting the sequence was pure – merely to find a leader for Mil’s Big World. But after the Augustus incident occurred, that aim changed!”

”He once more selected a Sequence Number 1 to find a presence within it that could threaten the Demon Lord, then dispatch them to assassinate the Demon Lord.”

”As for the Demon Lord, each world invasion meant the possibility of a being emerging that could threaten Him, thus achieving the Dominator’s goal. However, the situation in the Demon Realm also necessitated the external infusion of Origin Energy...”

”The links within are numerous, reaching this point; the Demon Lord, or rather the Demon Tribe, cannot cease invading other worlds, for it concerns the survival of the Demon Realm. Meanwhile, the Dominator also needs to use the Demon Tribe as a whetstone to hone His Sequence Number 1.”

”This should be the cause and effect of everything.”

After listening to Lin Haifeng’s account, Wen Yu remained silent.

He simply pondered until Lin Haifeng spoke again.

”The Dominator’s objective has been settled, so now let’s return to the main topic, the story about lifting the stone...”

”But now, it seems this stone is a bit heavy.”

”How heavy is it?”

”Because theoretically, the Dominator’s need for you is nearly nonexistent.”

”If I were the Dominator, the best choice would be to eliminate you, and even Tang Haofei, these two variables, then expedite the conflict and swiftly destroy Earth to start the next game soon.”

Upon hearing this, Wen Yu instead smiled.

”So, does this mean I’m destined to die?”

”No!”

Lin Haifeng decisively rejected Wen Yu’s conjecture.

”There’s another factor...”

”And that is the situation of the Demon Realm, or rather the Demon Lord.”

”The Demon Realm is almost at its breaking point, and the Demon Lord is also close to collapsing.”

...

”It’s a pity that my time, the time of the Demon Realm, is running out too...”

”Moreover, regarding the dispute between us, a never-ending contention... I am genuinely exhausted. You can see that, right? Whether the Demon Realm can endure the next millennium, the next world, is something I cannot predict unless you’re willing to stay here forever, using your power as a supplement to continue the existence of the Demon Realm.”

Upon hearing these words, the Dominator fell silent immediately. He only quietly increased the intensity of the Origin Energy’s transmission to strive as much as possible to prolong the Demon Realm’s life.
