Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”It is indeed very beautiful.”

Regarding this matter, Tang Haofei remained noncommittal; he pointed to the deep pit nearby and spoke slowly.

”Over there, used to be my thatched hut. Honestly, that place counted as my Soul Sacred Land; it’s just a pity...”

Saying this, Tang Haofei shook his head.

”Alright, let’s not talk about this anymore. I remember you’re called Sun Xuewei, right?”

”Yes, it’s written on the roster.”

”No, I’m not referring to the roster—from a long time ago, Wen Yu told me about him and your father, and your story.”

Upon hearing this, Sun Xuewei immediately fell silent.

”Sorry, I seem to have touched upon some unpleasant matters.”

The past events had already been laid bare by Wen Yu to Sun Xuewei, and the two had reached reconciliation; Sun Xuewei no longer harbored resentment, so this matter didn’t have any secrets or hidden dangers.

”It’s just... nothing...”

”Well, let’s change the topic then. Would you mind telling me about Wen Yu—um, my good brother—and what’s happened over the last few decades?”

”The last few decades?”

”Specifically about the time after he became Commander-in-Chief of Yanjing.”

”Well, I don’t know the details very well, but if you wish to hear...”

”No need to call me sir, just call me Tang Haofei.”

”Alright then, if Tang... if you want to hear, I can tell you, but you know, my understanding is also quite limited.”

”As expected, just tell me what you know.”

”Well... but I have a condition...”

Upon hearing this, Tang Haofei was momentarily stunned; he turned his head to look at the woman beside him.

Sun Xuewei looked at him mischievously, with a gaze and expression showing no fear or humility.

He paused briefly, then smiled.

”Alright! What condition?”

”How about telling me what happened here once?”

”Tsk, that’s a very long story.”

”We have plenty of time, don’t we?”

...

”By the way, do you mind if I ask a question?”

Lin Haifeng’s voice came from the computer, while Wen Yu merely watched the screen showing Tang Haofei and ten women asleep, then nodded after a moment.

”Ask freely, I’ll answer freely.”

Ask whatever, answering or not depends on my mood.

”Why haven’t you found a woman in all these years?”

This stupid question, Wen Yu was completely disdainful of answering; he simply raised his head and pointed at Tang Haofei on the TV screen.

No need for more words.

”So, are you afraid?”

”Yes!”

Wen Yu couldn’t deny this question—afraid of having a soft spot, afraid of being manipulated, afraid that just existing might hurt those he loves and those who love him.

It’s not that he’s heartless; it’s just that his emotions are too delicate, coupled with an extreme lack of security...

In short, many factors are involved.

”Actually, the most important thing is not meeting the right person.”

Lin Haifeng’s explanation made Wen Yu pause, then he thought carefully and chuckled.

”Your explanation finally made me want to respond.”

He said this, then sat on the sofa.

”Actually, I’ve thought about it—if I truly meet a woman who makes me throw caution to the wind, I might experience a normal life; for things that haven’t happened, I won’t give a definite answer, but your explanation makes sense.”

Thirty-five years as the world’s number one, coupled with the constant influence of Fran and Lin Haifeng, had changed Wen Yu’s perspective and way of thinking to a certain extent.

Like dealing with the issue of ’love,’ precisely because he hasn’t experienced it, Wen Yu won’t give a definite answer.

The human heart is changeable...

The change is in all aspects!

”So, what kind of person do you think is your right person?”

Upon hearing this question, Wen Yu fell silent again; he pondered the hidden implications of the question, then seemed to awaken and said.

”Get me the files of these ten women.”

”Oh? What do you want to see?”

”The ones you want me to see!”

”Hehe, you’ve really made a lot of progress...”

After a moment, ten files were laid out in Wen Yu’s tactical terminal by Lin Haifeng; Wen Yu flipped through them briefly before laughing and shaking his head.

”Vila, Sun Xuewei... these two are your real Deadly Weapons against Tang Haofei.”

”Vila loves challenging powerful experts, has a strong desire to conquer, and lacks awe for the powerful; I used to find this woman quite head-scratching. Didn’t expect you specifically groomed her to tackle Tang Haofei.”

”You’ve got it wrong; I trained Vila to deal with you... but now it’s unnecessary. Leaving her to Tang Haofei is a matter of making full use of resources.”

”The real focus is Sun Xuewei.”

”In recent years, I’ve been focusing on this woman, grooming her into something you—or rather, your kind—favors: unafraid of authority, fearless of life and death, lacking respect for authority, possessing her own personality and special charm. You folks with extraordinary martial prowess, who easily decide countless lives and deaths, aren’t you fond of beauties who can interact with you as equals?”

”So, you’re right; once I guessed Dominator’s intentions, I started devising ways to deal with Tang Haofei. I know Dominator will have Tang Haofei come back, and I also know Dominator will issue bans to prohibit your mutual conflict, but marriage and having children—those are beyond Dominator’s control, aren’t they?”

Wen Yu remained silent.

”I said, when computational abilities reach a certain level, combined with known information, it’s possible to predict the future. But this isn’t really prediction—it’s just a deduction of reality.”

”As for telling you so much... you probably know why, don’t you?”

Wen Yu nodded.

”You’re reassuring me...”

”Exactly, I’m reassuring you, reassuring you to entrust Tang Haofei to me. Trust me; I’ll control Tang Haofei. I have the ability to handle any potential trouble he might cause and turn it into your support as you move forward. As for how, even if I told you, you wouldn’t understand!”

Facing Old Lin’s taunt, Wen Yu could only smile wryly.

”Of course, there’s a second point...”

This time, Wen Yu was thoroughly surprised; he turned his head to look at the monitor in the office and spoke.

”What’s the second point?”

”About what you want to do... Well, I’m not guessing details intricately, but I think you probably don’t want me to reveal it since it’s your own little secret. So, I’m reassuring you about Tang Haofei and encouraging you to concentrate on that which you deem slightly less important than Tang Haofei.”
