Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”Conspiracy is a deduction of reality, which stems from information asymmetry.”

”Pa.”

An inky piece lands, putting the white chess piece in jeopardy on the chessboard.

Wen Yu pondered for a long time, and after a while, he waved his hand to mess up the chess game. On the large screen ahead, Lin Haifeng’s smiling face appeared; facing Wen Yu’s playful move, Lin Haifeng just chuckled. With the chaotic clattering of the electronic chessboard, all the pieces returned to the chess box.

Lin Haifeng placed another piece, announcing the start of another game, and Wen Yu, having nothing else to do, followed by placing his own piece.

Winning was impossible, and the reason for visiting this secret room to see Lin Haifeng the day after the succession ceremony was merely that Wen Yu wanted to learn some experience from this old fox, to learn some methods to deal with the things that might happen next.

”So, in my opinion, so-called conspiracy is truly simple; in summary, conspiracy is just deception...”

”Deceiving others into knowing less than you do; when you fully occupy the informational advantage, it sets the premise for a successful conspiracy.”

”I’ve always made decisive moves to guarantee victory. Well, not always victorious. At the very least, I stumbled at the Sea King, but that’s not important. What matters is, the reason I can use conspiracy to trap you, trap Tang Haofei, and even the Demigod and Earth’s conscious will, to achieve my goals is basically because of my advantage in information.”

”Calling it wisdom is not quite accurate. To put it in trendy terms, it’s about being less educated and less informed than me.”

”And now, you’ve inherited my legacy... My wisdom becomes your wisdom, my intelligence network becomes your intelligence network. With your absolute military force and Yanjing’s absolute intelligence advantage, no matter how foolish you might be, no one in this world can rival you...”

Wen Yu remained silent, carefully placing pieces. After another game concluded with Lin Haifeng’s victory, Wen Yu spoke again.

”What if the opponent I’m facing isn’t someone from this world? What if the opponent is stronger than me and knows more? Then what should I do?”

The Demon Spirit is a threat post-Level 10... Dominator is near at hand, and Wen Yu doesn’t know when Dominator will return. Because of this uncertainty, Wen Yu feels anxious now.

Even with the 8-Carbon Copies in hand, Wen Yu still cannot ignore Dominator’s threat.

He wishes to leverage Lin Haifeng’s wisdom to find himself a way out, which is why today’s scene emerged.

Upon hearing Wen Yu, Lin Haifeng fell silent for the first time.

Lin Haifeng knows nothing about the Demon Spirit, but Dominator’s bounty on Wen Yu has long been publicly notorious.

This inky chess piece was delayed in its descent by Lin Haifeng, and after a while, he finally spoke again.

”Then, let me tell you a story...”

”The story is called, ’Sima Guang Breaks the Jar.’”

”Stop, stop, stop!”

Wen Yu, aghast, stopped Lin Haifeng’s impending long-winded narration, looking at the electronic screen before him with a wry smile.

”I heard this story when I was three years old.”

”Then you should know what means Sima Guang used at the last moment to create this charming story, right?”

Wen Yu remained silent.

”He lifted a stone.”

”Indeed, he lifted a stone...”

...

”People like to compare wisdom with foolishness, but few know that great wisdom appearing as foolishness is the highest manifestation of wisdom.”

”The Demigod is smart; he’s very wise, but he’s not smarter than me, nor wiser. Yet, you might not know that the Demigod once truly puzzled me.”

”Which time?”

”The time he declared war!”

”You didn’t compromise with him, but I was indeed helpless facing the Demigod’s strategies. You’ve read ’Overview of Yanjing’s Strategic Weapons,’ right? If Yanjing unleashed all its firepower, it would absolutely have no fear even in the Demigod’s prime, but due to concerns, I couldn’t choose to do so; this is a leader’s self-discipline.”

”If not for you, I would surely be defeated by the Demigod’s ’jar-breaking’ tactics.”

”From a certain standpoint, tactics like jar-breaking or flipping the table are simple yet effective.”

Wen Yu frowned, and after a while, he finally spoke.

”You’re suggesting I use my current status and position to threaten that entity?”

”It’s not that simple... so-called flipping the table still requires a skillful approach.”

Lin Haifeng explained the proper way to ’break the jar’ using a slow electronic voice.

”You need to ensure that the jar you break is the one that figure is soaking in, meaning you need to grasp their most vulnerable spot.”

”If you get it wrong... it’s like the Demigod using internal turmoil to threaten you, and you won’t care whatever he does but directly resort to the most violent measures for a fierce counterattack; this is called breaking the jar only to step on your own foot.”

”And this leads to the second issue...”

”Do you know what Dominator truly desires?”

Wen Yu remained silent, then shook his head after a moment.

”I don’t know...”

The Demon Spirit aims to gather the planetary will and strengthen itself; its ultimate goal is to regain control over the Demon Realm and oust the Demon Lord from the Demon Palace.

The objective of the Demon Lord, on the other hand, is simply for the Demon Realm’s continuity.

Wen Yu has speculated on these aspects, yet Dominator’s objective remains a mystery to him.

Alone, even with his side riddled by infiltration from Demon Spirits and Demon Lords, Dominator remains unfazed; it’s as though...

He shows indifference to these things entirely.

He dismisses his own forces, disregards the collapse of invaded worlds—this was evident from previous experiences on Earth; he even ignores how many have died on Earth and whether Earth still has the means to counter the Demon Tribe.

He acts like a stick stirring feces, seemingly omnipresent and all-powerful, yet only hidden behind the scenes, coldly watching everything unfold in this world!

Wen Yu doesn’t know what Dominator wants, so all conspiracy and calculation become illusions.

A resourceful homemaker cannot cook without rice, perhaps even Lin Haifeng cannot solve this predicament!

Yet Wen Yu underestimated Lin Haifeng.

He spoke thus.

”In truth, Dominator’s purpose was revealed long ago...”

Wen Yu furrowed his brow, pondering for a long time but still failing to find any clues.

So Lin Haifeng provided the final answer.

”Don’t you find the sequence of events between a certain planet and the Demon Tribe’s war not only redundant but also quite curious?”

Wen Yu was stunned.

”Have you considered why Dominator wanted to establish the sequence?”
