Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

The energy core in the battle puppet’s chest flashed rapidly with white light. The intelligent combat system of the battle puppet seemed to sense that danger was approaching, and instinctively played all of its trump cards!

White light shot out, instantly entangling with the gray energy. The two rapidly neutralized each other at a ratio of one to three.

For a moment, the gray energy and the pale white energy blasting out from the battle puppet’s chest were locked in a stalemate. This bout of contest only found its outcome when the second stream of gray energy drifted out of the Jade Pendant.

The two streams of Chaos Energy quickly fused into one. Relying on their far superior quantity, they rapidly dissolved the white energy. Only when the pale white energy completely dispersed, leaving just a small amount of Chaos Energy, did that remaining Chaos Energy shoot out once more, directly striking the battle puppet’s energy core.

This last tiny bit of Chaotic Power did not directly shatter the battle puppet’s energy core. Instead, like a large hand, it yanked the energy core out. The battle puppet, having lost its energy core, had the red light in its eyes flicker twice before slowly losing all luster.

After dealing with the battle puppet, the Chaotic Power tossed the energy core down beside Vincent, then pounced toward the rampaging Blue Light in the cave. In just a short span of time, all the Blue Light permeating the cave was crushed and dissolved by the Chaotic Power. Even then, the Chaotic Power still had surplus remaining; it swiftly reshaped itself and, in a brief moment, took on Wen Yu’s form.

”My lord…”

Vincent re-formed his body and hurriedly bowed to Wen Yu. Wen Yu merely nodded. He looked around—surrounding them, nine massive Crosses stood planted into nine corpses. Moments later, flesh and blood began to regrow. In a short span, Qin Tian and the other nine, who had already died, revived by means of the resurrection tools and regained consciousness.

As high-level officials in Yanjing, they could still afford a few resurrection tools.

”My lord…”

Qin Tian and the others stepped forward, their faces somewhat ugly, but Wen Yu showed no intention of blaming them. Wen Yu simply stood before the shattered remains of the battle puppet and spoke of the intel he had gleaned from that brief exchange.

”The material is excellent, the combat intelligence isn’t low, and more importantly, this thing carries an extremely tiny amount of Origin Energy… In terms of combat power, it should barely reach Level 11. Even its conventional combat capability is not something you can compare to.”

”Here’s what we’ll do. Qin Tian, you and your people pack up this battle puppet and take it back to exchange for military merit. That should be enough to offset the loss of your resurrection tools this time.”

Once Wen Yu finished speaking, the team members behind Qin Tian immediately moved. In a few swift motions they packed up the battle puppet and stored it back into a space ring. After gathering all the spoils, Wen Yu took the lead, diving into the cave ahead.

Judging from the battle power level of this battle puppet, this place indeed held exploration value.

...

Every member of the vanguard squad carried a Jade Pendant Wen Yu had provided beforehand.

Exploring a treasure land, the danger has always been unknown. In a Super Treasure Land, even a Level 1 professionist could very well run into Level 11 dead spirits…

Here, no incident would be surprising. Since Qin Tian and the others were working for him, Wen Yu had to ensure his subordinates’ safety.

Very soon, the group arrived at the third steel gate.

This time they didn’t have Vincent open the door. Wen Yu simply waved his hand, and the gate shattered in response. Inside, two puppets identical to the previous one strode out.

”Crack!”

With a gesture from Wen Yu, seven of the nine remaining Jade Pendants on the squad instantly shattered, releasing a large amount of Origin Energy that surged into Wen Yu’s body, providing him with greater energy support.

Thus, before the Blue Light could roar, the two battle puppets had already had their energy cores ripped out and toppled to the ground.

”Continue.”

Once the spoils were gathered, Wen Yu immediately spoke.

...

Five layers of gates, ten Level 11 battle puppets.

Even if there were no extra gains, the benefits obtained on this trip were enough to satisfy Wen Yu. And as the fifth gate collapsed, when the enormous warehouse came into view, Wen Yu finally exhaled in relief.

With a month of exploration time, this time they had likely found the right place.

He stepped into the warehouse ahead of the others, casually taking from a shelf a clip-like object.

This was a Heart Scar World USB drive.

As for cracking this kind of small device, Yanjing had already completed it on the third day after Heart Scar Treasure Land was opened. At this moment, Wen Yu simply tossed the thing to Qin Tian. Qin Tian pulled out a Heart Scar World-specific reader from his space ring. As the load completed, a moment later, on the virtual screen, an old face, stiff and twitching, appeared before everyone.

”Aledro… Gikurai… Dumeska…”

A long string of gibberish spilled out. Wen Yu didn’t understand it. He only turned to the super powerful expert in Qin Tian’s squad who also served as a part-time linguist. That man gave a bitter smile and spoke.

”I am the Minister of Defense of the Vadoli Empire in Heart Scar World. The tiered battle ground of Heart Scar World has been crushed, annihilation is imminent. To those who come after, bear witness to our existence.”

The slightly heavy voice made everyone present fall silent. The linguist did not continue translating, and Wen Yu had no intention of listening further.

A self-confession like this was unlikely to be anything particularly useful…

He glanced at the countless data storage devices in the warehouse, as well as the extra large and small crates, then after a moment, issued the final order.

”Take all these things back and hand them over to the Strategic Command Center. They’ll extract the useful stuff from them.”

Expecting these eleven people present to rummage through the entire database and sort all the item-and-tool gains… that was wishful thinking. The workload would probably take years to finish. The Strategic Command Center kept a whole bunch of idle people; no reason not to use them. Wen Yu—and even Qin Tian and the others—had no need to waste time here.

”Yes, my lord.”

Qin Tian and the others took the order and got to work, while Wen Yu dissolved into light and vanished.

Once the projection of Wen Yu in the treasure land completely dissipated, Wen Yu in Yanjing abruptly opened his eyes. He sprang to his feet and clenched his fists hard.

Taking something from 0 to 1 is always the hardest step, and this harvest might very well be that ”1”…

On the surface, Wen Yu hadn’t shown any particular emotion in front of Qin Tian and the rest, but his true feelings were not hard to imagine.

...

That night, the materials were delivered back to Yanjing. Wen Yu ordered the staff of the Strategic Command Center to work through the night, sorting documents and intel, while also examining the items and tools Qin Tian’s group had additionally discovered in the warehouse.

Among these tasks, Lin Haifeng would lend a hand with sorting the documents and intel. But the amount of data left behind by a world was nothing short of vast; it would clearly be a lengthy process.

Roughly three hours later, the count of gained items and tools was completed first.

Among the objects deemed valuable enough to be sent to Wen Yu for inspection… there was only one…

It was a vial of reagent.
