Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Although Wen Yu felt he might have been tricked by Lin Haifeng, the so-called ”pitfall” was just in some aspects.

Weighing the advantages and disadvantages together, Wen Yu personally thought the benefits were much greater.

At this moment, facing Fran’s congratulations, Wen Yu also came to terms with the issue of ’responsibility’. This time, Wen Yu’s face showed a sincere smile as he patted Fran on the shoulder and whispered in a voice that only the two could hear.

”In the future, I’ll need your support quite a bit.”

Matters like governance... no need to think about it; Wen Yu would definitely throw it all onto Fran, and Fran had a fairly clear understanding of his role.

He simply nodded and resumed his position presiding over the succession ceremony.

...

Wen Yu’s swearing-in was merely a part of the succession ceremony, though important, it certainly wasn’t the whole.

Immediately following the succession ceremony was the military parade.

Not meant for outsiders to see—knowing Wen Yu’s strength, perhaps aside from Tang Haofei, no one else had the thought of resisting Wen Yu, and those who didn’t know Wen Yu’s strength...

It’s seemingly unnecessary to care about their thoughts.

This so-called military parade was, in fact, for the ordinary citizens to see.

To boost their confidence, to enhance their sense of belonging.

At the same time, it was also meant for those mutant creatures outside who were panicking and wavering between camps.

Look here, so powerful, Earth’s will has also declared GG, so come on over, become one of us...

The purpose of the succession ceremony was not to announce Wen Yu’s ascension but to gather as many of those unstable factors wandering outside as possible.

In this regard, Fran arranged everything well, and Wen Yu was unwilling to concern himself with such matters.

He just sat on the rostrum, quietly watching squads of soldiers marching ceremonially in what was called a military parade, but in reality, was a face-saving show of force.

Until the sun was high in the sky.

...

The succession ceremony ended at noon, and after everyone dined, Fran arranged for the people to enter the conference room for Wen Yu’s first meeting after taking office.

During the meeting, Wen Yu merely spoke on some broad issues according to Fran’s suggestions. Following this, Fran took full control, assigning tasks that had been discussed with Lin Haifeng one by one.

Throughout the meeting, Fran spoke incessantly while Wen Yu simply sat in the main seat, nodded off, seemingly having swapped roles. Yet, everyone present understood that once Wen Yu had taken this seat, no one could shake him.

Because what he relied on was never any relationships, any abilities. Wen Yu’s reliance had always been his absolute strength.

Therefore, this term as Supreme Commander, despite private discussions calling him the true second Supreme Commander after Lin Haifeng.

Wen Yu’s position was much more solid than Fang Yuqiong’s—plainly speaking, Wen Yu becoming Supreme Commander should be considered a favor granted by him, giving this opportunity.

As the meeting proceeded, each high-ranking member received the latest orders, then bid farewell to Wen Yu and headed to their respective workplaces. Wen Yu also smiled politely, occasionally offering words of encouragement—it was something Wen Yu could do, saying a few encouraging words to those who worked for him to win them over.

Business affairs were always busy; the fact that they managed to free up three days for Wen Yu’s succession ceremony was already quite commendable.

It was only at dinner time when the meeting finally completely ended, and Wen Yu stretched, preparing to return to his room to handle some personal matters, while Fran hurried off to the Supreme command room again.

His work time was just beginning...

...

After returning to his room, Wen Yu took off his ceremonial outfit and changed into the Heaven-covering Robe, then tumbled headlong onto his bed.

Formalism made Wen Yu criticize it and made his heart tired, yet at certain times, indeed, it was an indispensable part.

Now, with the Old Emperor ”dead” and a new king ascending the throne, the world is settled. On the surface, the force led by Wen Yu dominates, yet for Wen Yu, the pressure from the Dominator and Demon Tribe forbade a moment’s peace.

He closed his eyes and slowly entered the ’dreamland’.

...

”I also promise, I will turn this responsibility into my belief.”

”Oath ends...”

”Good!”

”Well said!”

”This world needs such figures to be our leaders!”

”Come, come, come, to celebrate this joyous day, all goods at Old Wang’s fruit store are half-priced...”

Instantly, no one cared about the subsequent scenes of Wen Yu’s succession ceremony. All goods at Old Wang’s fruit store were snapped up in a short time, until the old men and women of the vegetable market took advantage of it, all gone, a figure stretched from afar and walked into the fruit store.

”No goods left, no goods left, for fruits come again tomorrow.”

Old Wang cleaned up this mess around him, speaking without turning his head, although a voice coldly sounded at his ear.

”Old Wang... Old Wang... This name is quite culturally integrated, huh.”

The familiar voice, teasing tone, made ”Old Wang” look up instantly.

He first glanced at the comer, then at the video streaming scene on TV, ”Old Wang” rubbed his eyes vigorously, before opening his mouth wide.

”Faceless? That’s not right...”

”Don’t guess, it’s just carbon copy tricks.”

Wen Yu, clad in black, leisurely sat on ”Old Wang’s” rocking chair. He glanced at the broadcast screen on TV, and lost interest within seconds. Meanwhile, ”Old Wang” swiftly shut the store then moved a chair to sit beside Wen Yu.

”What’s the matter, you know I truly don’t want to have dealings with you...”

”Just seeing you too idle, I want to ask you for a favor.”

Wen Yu said as such, then looked at the person before him, pondered for a moment, and still chose to speak straightforwardly.

”I want you to re-establish the Independents Mutual Aid Federation for me, actually this idea popped into my mind three days ago, and after much thought, only you have the time, have the identity, and also the ability.”

”After all, you know... I’m now this...”

Wen Yu pointed at the TV and continued.

”So, I have to weigh certain things properly now, like certain super powerful experts wandering outside, they are unstable factors but aren’t wrong in themselves, so I want to use a model similar to the Independents Mutual Aid Federation or Ultimate Force Team to gather these people, not seeking them to unleash great power, only hoping they don’t cause chaos and oppose me in this world.”
