Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

A flurry of chaotic thoughts raced through Wen Yu’s mind.

In a short span of time, Wen Yu had devised countless ways to reap benefits—this gift bestowed upon him by the Almighty Demon Vine was simply too magnificent!

Sensing a silence from the Almighty Demon Vine, as if it had fallen into a deep slumber, Wen Yu swiftly shifted his thoughts and began his performance.

The Almighty Demon Vine had stated clearly earlier: the natives of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes only knew the name of the Almighty Immortal Emperor’s ”son” and had never seen him. Under such circumstances, no matter how Wen Yu acted, it wouldn’t arouse any suspicion from others. Just being true to character would suffice!

Given this premise, it was impossible for Wen Yu to expose his deception.

Observing the large group of natives from the Universe of Immortals and Heroes still kneeling before him, Wen Yu cleared his throat. His expression turned solemn, and he spoke in a steady voice, ”Rise.”

”Yes, Young Master!”

Mo Xuan’s voice remained gentle, proving that kneeling for almost five minutes hadn’t elicited the slightest grievance from him. The class hierarchy in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes was far more brutal than that on Earth, perhaps because the apocalypse on Earth had only just begun.

The power of status and position was clearly demonstrated at this moment.

It was just like Lin Haifeng on Earth. Although Lin Haifeng himself wasn’t weak, and there were many warriors in the military stronger than him, why did he dare claim he was the most powerful person on Earth?

It was simple: within a well-established class system, status could translate directly into power!

This was just like Wen Yu’s current situation. Mo Xuan was stronger than him, but under the pressure of Wen Yu’s status, hadn’t Mo Xuan still obediently knelt before him for a full five minutes?

Wen Yu taking matters into his own hands didn’t elicit any response from the Almighty Demon Vine. Wen Yu understood that although the Almighty Demon Vine wasn’t speaking, his every move was within its perception. If he made any mistakes, the vine would immediately send him a Spiritual Fluctuation.

And its silence? It signified that Wen Yu’s actions were fine! Similarly, it meant the Almighty Demon Vine had tacitly approved his earlier ”father and son” narrative!

So, Wen Yu, with a brazen face, prepared to ask for benefits.

”Uh, Mo Xuan, is it?” Wen Yu began.

”Yes, Young Master! I didn’t expect the Young Master to remember this subordinate’s name.”

The tremor and excitement in Mo Xuan’s voice didn’t seem feigned; being remembered by the ”Young Master of Heavenly Palace” was apparently a great honor.

”I heard my father speak of you before,” Wen Yu said. ”He mentioned that City Lord Mo Xuan, as Guardian of the Fifth Layer of the Heavenly Palace, has made immense contributions and toiled greatly. My father was well aware of these things. It’s just a pity…”

After speaking, Wen Yu immediately adopted a sorrowful expression, as if lamenting the tragic death of his ”beloved father.”

Building rapport before getting to the main point was a simple tactic Wen Yu naturally understood.

And it turned out these natives of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes really fell for this. Wen Yu had only intended to put on a little show, but his act of ”The Almighty Immortal Emperor Cares for His People” stirred the surrounding group of dead spirits so much that even the Soul Fire in their eyes dimmed considerably.

Seeing Mo Xuan on the verge of tears, Wen Yu was momentarily at a loss for words.

However, from this small detail, Wen Yu could further deduce the kind of status the former Almighty Immortal Emperor held in the eyes of these natives of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes.

The conclusion was: he was supreme, even more formidable than the most revered emperors of old Earth!

And his own status as the Crown Prince naturally rose with it!

Wen Yu gently pressed his hand down, attempting to control the impassioned atmosphere.

This simple gesture was quickly noticed by all the dead spirits present, and they immediately complied.

The sorrowful atmosphere instantly ceased. These dead spirits from the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, having been under long-term military governance, possessed an exceptionally high level of discipline!

Obedience to superiors was deeply ingrained in the very souls of the natives of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes!

This was more good news for Wen Yu.

The unconditional obedience of these subordinates meant his ”supreme status in the Heavenly Palace” could be utilized to its fullest potential!

Once the scene fell silent, Wen Yu briefly organized his thoughts before speaking in a solemn voice.

”Before the great cataclysm, my father sealed me away in an unknown location, and I fell into a deep slumber. I only awoke some time ago. Finding myself closest to Ling Yun City, I hurried here as fast as I could.”

Wen Yu briefly explained his origins. Truthfully, Wen Yu was overthinking things—in the eyes of the natives of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, the Almighty Immortal Emperor was omnipotent. His son now appearing alive before this group of dead spirits? What was so unbelievable about that?

So, Wen Yu just calmly spun his tale, and the dead spirits from the Universe of Immortals and Heroes could only passively accept the ”facts” he presented!

”But when I awoke,” Wen Yu continued, ”I discovered that my strength had inexplicably diminished by a large margin. Alas, that’s why I’ve come now, hoping to see if Ling Yun City has any items or skills that could enhance my power. Even if I can’t recover my former strength, becoming even a little stronger would be good.”

After this simple preamble, the wolf immediately bared its fangs.

As for Wen Yu’s claim that his ”strength had inexplicably diminished significantly,” who would dare question it? Who would dare to verify it?

Backed by his supreme status, Wen Yu’s word was law!

These words made even the Almighty Demon Vine gasp. Damn it, spinning a story just to get benefits? This kid’s audacity is truly something else! it thought.

Mo Xuan’s reaction didn’t surprise Wen Yu. Or perhaps, once the Almighty Demon Vine had assigned Wen Yu the identity of ”son,” everything simply fell into place logically!

”Young Master,” Mo Xuan said, ”Ling Yun City’s material reserves currently hold a small quantity of supplies that can enhance one’s physical limits. If the Young Master requires them, these items can all be given to you.”

”Hmm...” Wen Yu feigned hesitation for a moment, then asked with a look of reluctance, ”This... are they of no use to you all?”

”My Lord, the dead cannot use such items,” Mo Xuan stated, his face impassive as he acknowledged the fact of their deaths.

”Sigh... In that case, I won’t stand on ceremony. I’m afraid I’ll have to trouble you, City Lord Mo Xuan.”

”To be able to serve the Young Master is Mo Xuan’s honor!” Mo Xuan declared, his words resounding with such conviction that Wen Yu felt somewhat abashed.

Wen Yu himself felt a bit ashamed of this approach.

So, Wen Yu added, ”By the way, are there any skills? Preferably Esoteric Level ones, and ideally those that can break limits!”
