Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

With sincere faith, Kasu believed firmly that the Lord would guide him, and that one day, he would meet Akad again! However, the Lord couldn’t ensure him any gains... For instance, at present, all Kasu could see were Demon Fiends or the dead souls of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes. He hadn’t benefited in any other way.

CLANG, CLANG, TING, TING.

Assorted sounds drifted from the distance, occasionally interspersed with human screams of pain. The dead souls of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes couldn’t speak, and Kasu could distinguish the cries of Demon Fiends. This particular cry of pain, he deduced, was from a professionist.

With nothing else to do, Kasu didn’t hesitate. He immediately turned and charged towards the commotion, his body resembling a streak of light.

Encountering someone meant the possibility of gathering information, and in this vast Heavenly Palace Treasure Land, having information was always good!

The ”tragic” duel between a Level 2 professionist and a Level 2 Demon Fiend up ahead did not move Kasu in the slightest.

He casually emitted a beam of white light—laser-like Energy Fluctuations that instantly struck the Demon Fiend. The high temperature incinerated the creature to ashes. Seeing the perplexed yet increasingly wary professionist before him, Kasu wasn’t in the mood for pleasantries. His figure flashed forward, and in the next second, Kasu stood a short distance from the man.

After a brief interrogation, Kasu waved his hand dismissively.

The professionist opposite him fled without looking back, as if granted a royal pardon, leaving Kasu alone to ponder the information he had gathered.

Although he had learned a fair bit, a Level 2 professionist wouldn’t possess any truly high-level information. The only useful piece was the location of the military command post on the Second Level of the Heavenly Palace.

After a moment, Kasu sighed softly.

He was clear about the advantages of being in a large organization. Compared to aimlessly wandering around, temporarily joining the military seemed like a feasible option. Strictly speaking, there was no conflict between him and the military; the differences were purely ideological. Moreover, it was his own perspective on this ideological difference that had been flawed. Considering Lin Haifeng’s various kind gestures and impeccable work style, Kasu currently harbored no defensive sentiments against the military—his military registration hadn’t even been revoked. Strictly speaking, he was still part of the military.

Thinking this, Kasu immediately changed direction and headed for the military headquarters.

「First Layer of Tiangong.」

The ”destined duel” was still ongoing—or rather, the ”destined duel” that had been raging for nearly ten hours was still in progress.

Wanping stood not far away, panting heavily. His body was covered in numerous fist-sized dents and wounds so deep they showed bone, looking as if it might be torn apart like a ragged sack at any moment. The face of Guan Tao on his chest had completely disappeared.

This meant Wanping had been ”killed” by Ye Nan and his companions once again...

And Wanping’s luck was truly good—despite dying again, his main soul hadn’t been extinguished!

However, Ye Nan and his companions on the opposing side were definitely not faring well either!

Akad looked pale, surrounded by nearly a hundred Demon Fiend blood slaves, all of them Level 1 or Level 2 trash, baring their teeth and claws.

Zhang Shaojie had lost both arms but was still clad in his black armor, appearing as if he could still fight—though this was merely an appearance.

The only one who seemed relatively intact was Ye Nan, who was unscathed—as long as Avenger was alive, Ye Nan couldn’t be injured.

But the steam rising from the top of his head indicated that Ye Nan’s stamina was almost depleted...

They were evenly matched, completely so.

At this point, the four of them had lost the motivation, or rather, the strength, to continue fighting. They just stared at each other, too exhausted to even utter words of challenge.

After a period of ”intense staring,” Wanping was the first to react.

He shot a fierce middle finger in Ye Nan’s direction. Unable to spare even a word, Wanping turned and staggered into the distance—he fled.

Seeing this, Akad, paradoxically the weakest among them, was the first to react. Commanding his few remaining blood slaves, he intended for these low-level cannon fodder to intercept Wanping. However—

”Hold on, don’t chase him,” Ye Nan ordered from the side.

Looking at Wanping retreating into the distance at an extremely slow pace, Ye Nan took a deep breath, then quickly walked over to Zhang Shaojie.

”Zhang Shaojie? Shaojie?”

He gently nudged Zhang Shaojie’s burly body, but—

THUMP! The tall figure crashed to the ground.

Zhang Shaojie had ostensibly only lost both arms. But as the main force against Wanping, his actual injuries were far more severe than they appeared!

Ye Nan sighed.

With Zhang Shaojie severely wounded, chasing Wanping now would be suicide. I can’t stop Wanping this time, and I can’t get my revenge.

He took out a healing potion and fed it to Zhang Shaojie. While waiting for Zhang Shaojie’s injuries to recover, Ye Nan calculated their next move.

Stay in the Heavenly Palace? Kasu is here, and so are military personnel—we’re wanted fugitives by the military right now! Leave? That would be like entering a treasure land only to leave empty-handed. How embarrassing...

Perhaps noticing Ye Nan’s dilemma, Akad, at his side, spoke slowly.

”Ye Nan, have you noticed something interesting?”

”What?”

”Wanping’s state after entering the treasure land is very interesting. He entered this treasure land as a dead man. Possibly because of this, he didn’t receive a teleportation jade charm for exiting the treasure land...”

”What do you mean?”

”He doesn’t have any healing potions or a teleportation jade charm on him right now. If he wants to leave, he can only kill someone and forcibly take their teleportation jade charm. If we move a bit faster and pursue him a bit more relentlessly, we could potentially wear Wanping down to death right here in this treasure land!”

”But Kasu and the military...”

Ye Nan had obviously thought of this too, but his hesitation stemmed from his apprehension towards the military and Kasu.

Seeing Ye Nan like this, Akad sighed.

”If you want to accomplish something, especially something big, you inevitably have to take risks. Compared to the goal of trapping Wanping in this treasure land for good, I think the risks posed by the military and Kasu are manageable!”

Ultimately, Ye Nan’s strength was low, he lacked mental fortitude, and even his luck wasn’t very good—his pathetic state during the early days of the apocalypse was a testament to his character. The weak, more than anyone, should possess the courage to stake everything on one desperate gamble. Yet, paradoxically, this was a courage most often found in the powerful. It had to be said; there were reasons the weak remained weak!

Not until he had administered three healing potions to Zhang Shaojie did Ye Nan finally come to a decision.

”Let’s go! We continue to hunt Wanping!”

Even though Ye Nan was weak and weak-willed, he had fortunately managed to forcibly bind Akad to him. And Akad, he possessed boundless courage!

It had to be said, when God closes one door, He opens another window.

At the very least, with Akad by his side, there wouldn’t be any major problems with Ye Nan’s ”strategies and tactics.”

As for the risks—they would deal with them as they arose.
