Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Before him, a dazzling array of colorful medicinal herbs caught Wen Yu’s attention!

According to the Almighty Demon Vine, this place was different from the equipment warehouse on the second floor—the items here were far more precious than the mass-produced junk in there!

The restrictions here were crafted by a master. Even after countless years, they remained relatively well-preserved. Although the medicinal herbs garden didn’t contain much Spiritual Energy, it was sufficient for these spirit herbs.

Moreover, the condition of these spirit herbs differed from that of weapons and armor. Some spirit herbs required a considerable amount of time to fully mature, and they possessed a much stronger resistance to the power of time.

Additionally, after the Dominator’s modifications, the shelf life of the plant-based items here was effectively extended. Therefore, apart from some particularly delicate spirit plants, most of them were still effective!

This meant Wen Yu’s trip would definitely be worthwhile!

Above most of the spirit herbs floated a bubble-like covering. Some delicate plants within these covers looked as tender as if they had just been watered, freely stretching their forms.

”That’s the automated cultivation technology our Universe of Immortals and Heroes developed through technical exchanges with the Dominator,” the Almighty Demon Vine explained. ”In the past, every spirit herb garden required numerous servants for manual maintenance. I must say, when it comes to saving labor costs, the Technological System certainly has its merits.”

”Look over there.”

The Almighty Demon Vine’s tendril pointed in another direction.

Wen Yu followed its gesture.

There, a steel robot, rusted all over and resembling the Terminator, was slowly pruning the branches of a towering tree.

Its awkward, sluggish movements made Wen Yu wonder if it would fall apart into a pile of scrap metal at any moment.

”Those are puppets from the medicinal herbs garden. Their reactors were modified, and they were placed here to handle menial tasks.”

”They can still move?”

”Yes, with a Spiritual Energy Drive and some later-acquired technological methods. You have no idea what kind of sparks can fly when different civilizational and technological systems collide.

”It’s no exaggeration to say that during the peak of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, you could see the technological systems and architectural styles of thousands of different civilizations there. That was when the world was truly magnificent.”

Perhaps recalling the glory days of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, once the Almighty Demon Vine started talking, it couldn’t be stopped.

”The liveliest place in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes used to be the Heavenly Craft Workshop—similar to your current science academies. On average, every two hours, a new technology, whether military or civilian, would be developed and then deployed worldwide.

”Take the blacksmith’s forge on the second floor, for example. It was, arguably, just a frontline equipment supply and maintenance site, but its technological level was quite high—it utilized mechanical technology from the Metal Universe, as well as our runes technology.

”And this place, this is merely a frontline battlefield medicinal herbs garden—comparable to a field hospital on your Earth, perhaps a bit larger. But even here, you can find examples of technological fusion from at least dozens of different civilizational systems.

”Then there’s Lingxiao City and the Immortal Spirit Sect Headquarters further up. Tsk, tsk! Now *that* place is truly grand! It will absolutely broaden your horizons!”

Wen Yu let the Almighty Demon Vine’s rambling go in one ear and out the other. These things are interesting to hear about, but technology... sorry, I have no intention of changing my path. This place, though, could be immensely helpful to the military. Given their thoroughness in scavenging, they’d probably even haul back the soil from here for detailed research!

「...」

The entire medicinal herbs garden wasn’t particularly large. Under the Almighty Demon Vine’s guidance and moving at Wen Yu’s pace, it took him less than an hour to explore the entire area.

Moreover, during this hour, messages from the Cyclops outside clearly indicated one thing: no other professionists had discovered this location.

This meant it was a foregone conclusion that Wen Yu would have exclusive access to all the benefits here!

Staring at the pitch-black door before him and sensing the faint, intermittent aura of danger emanating from above it, Wen Yu glanced at the Almighty Demon Vine beside him, awaiting its explanation.

”This is where the finished elixirs and pills and Esoteric Level herbal items are stored,” the Almighty Demon Vine said. ”I need some time to break the restrictions here. Do you want to watch?”

Wen Yu pondered for a moment, then slowly shook his head.

What difference would it make whether I watch or not? With the Almighty Demon Vine’s current abilities, even if I strained my eyes until they popped, I wouldn’t be able to figure anything out!

”Alright then,” the Almighty Demon Vine continued. ”You can go back to the areas we just explored and take whatever you like. Once I’ve broken through the restrictions here, I’ll take you to see even better things!”

CRACK.

Wen Yu gently rolled his neck, and his vertebrae made a couple of crisp cracking sounds.

”So, the tour’s over?”

”Exactly, young man! It’s harvest time. Everything outside is yours!” the Almighty Demon Vine declared with an air of aged wisdom.

”How do I take them?”

Wen Yu hadn’t dared to touch anything earlier, afraid there might be specific procedures for collecting Spiritual Medicine and worried about damaging what would soon be his.

The Almighty Demon Vine, however, seemed taken aback.

”What do you mean, ’how’?”

”I mean, when harvesting Spiritual Medicine, aren’t there supposed to be a bunch of meticulous requirements? Like needing jade boxes for storage, jade spades for digging roots, and all sorts of other particular details...”

The Almighty Demon Vine was silent for a long moment, then it transmitted a faint Spiritual Fluctuation:

”Kid, what era are we living in? We’re already playing with high-tech stuff. How come you, an Earthling, are still stuck on those archaic methods from ancient times...?

”You know how to pick up items off the ground, right? Bend over, pick them up. Eat what’s edible, and put what you can’t into your space ring. It’s that simple.

”I was actually wondering, given your temperament, why you hadn’t touched a single spirit herb yet.”

After hearing the Almighty Demon Vine’s explanation, Wen Yu was rendered speechless.

The Almighty Demon Vine then twisted the knife in Wen Yu’s metaphorical heart.

”From the moment we came in, apart from what’s behind that door, you can’t take anything else. Everything else, you can take however you want. Just pluck them. They’re all items, and they come with descriptions provided by the Dominator, so their uses are clear at a glance. Eat what’s edible, or feed it to your soul pet. What’s not edible can be kept for trading with the military.”

”Honestly, you overthink so many useless things. Why does your brain freeze up at critical moments like this...?”

Fine, Wen Yu had been thoroughly scorned by the Almighty Demon Vine.

But that doesn’t matter! The important thing is, everything outside is mine now!
