Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

CLICK, CLICK.

The crisp sound of footsteps gradually echoed from afar, growing louder as they approached.

Under bright illumination, the figure of the elder slowly emerged from the distance, eventually arriving in front of a wall at the back of the great hall.

Lifting his head, a majestic mural came into his sight.

However, an unknown power seemed to fill the mural, making its contents indistinguishable.

But to the elder, this was merely a trivial matter.

A black demonic light slowly rose in the elder’s eyes. His originally human-like black and white pupils gradually turned pure black. Empowered by this unknown ability, every detail of the mural vividly appeared before him.

...

The final battle, huh?

A soft mutter escaped the elder’s lips as he examined the recorded content and Spiritual Fluctuations within the mural. His face was expressionless, perhaps with only a faint sigh from deep within his heart...

The so-called ’final battle’ was not the conflict where the Demon Tribe completely destroyed the Universe of Immortals and Heroes. Instead, it was the battle where the Almighty Immortal Emperor fell—ever since their Ultimate Revered had fallen, the Universe of Immortals and Heroes permanently lost the means to resist the Demon Realm.

Nevertheless, the mural’s content was unimportant to the elder. The truth was not an issue he needed to consider.

The elder’s gaze focused on four items depicted around the Almighty Immortal Emperor in the mural.

The four great treasures of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes!

...

The Almighty Demon Vine.

The emerald-green vine depicted on the mural was of such proportions that it resembled a colossal tree reaching to the heavens and piercing the earth. The Almighty Demon Vine in Wen Yu’s hand, compared to the one drawn on the mural, seemed like an infinitesimally small branch.

The Slaughter God Sword.

The elder’s gaze shifted to the sword held by the Almighty Immortal Emperor.

Its form was similar to the fragments of the Slaughter God Sword Wen Yu had seen. However, even just through the mural, one could sense the overwhelming sharpness the original Slaughter God Sword once possessed.

It’s a pity that it shattered.

The elder stated the truth indifferently. He paid no further attention to the Slaughter God Sword, now a relic of history, and turned his gaze upwards on the mural.

There, a crystalline, round bead was depicted circling above the Almighty Immortal Emperor’s head, constantly emitting a spiritually potent glow.

Seeing the perfectly round, translucent bead on the mural, a slight ripple finally touched the elder’s tone.

The Soul Bead... It’s such a pity that this item broke. Truly a pity...

Perhaps genuinely lamenting the Soul Bead’s destruction, the elder turned away, no longer attending to the mural’s contents. He didn’t even bother to mention the last great treasure, instead placing a single hand flat against the mural.

CREAK.

A faint scraping sound arose as the mural, like a great door, slowly slid open from the middle, revealing a hidden chamber behind it.

...

Slowly stepping into the hidden chamber, the elder surveyed his surroundings.

The chamber, nearly ten square meters in size, had no special furnishings. However, the runes and light constantly flowing along the walls suggested that this room was not as ordinary as it appeared.

After briefly examining the chamber’s layout, the elder nodded slightly after a moment.

Tongtian, this undertaking of yours was truly significant. Perhaps nearly a tenth of the entire foundation of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes was used as material to construct this hidden chamber.

What a pity, your strength was too weak. You still couldn’t withstand it...

The elder sighed to himself with an inscrutable lament. Then, disregarding everything else, he sat down cross-legged and slowly closed his eyes.

The Almighty Demon Vine opens the gate to the treasure land; the Slaughter God Sword awakens a carbon copy of my will; the Soul Bead acts as a catalyst, stirring the endless dead souls in the Heavenly Palace to pave the way for the entire plan; and finally…

Only the still-intact Heaven-covering Banner remains, to be used to obscure ’The Fate.’ Hmm, the plan should be correct. I have made my preparations. Tongtian, from now on, it all depends on you!

...

”How much longer?” Wen Yu asked the Almighty Demon Vine, his face pale as he forcibly swallowed an Immortal Herb.

”Three minutes! Almost there!”

Hearing this, Wen Yu’s expression finally eased somewhat. With a look of resignation, he began gathering the spirit herbs and Immortal Elixirs scattered on the ground, stowing everything, useful or not, into his space ring.

In truth, the remaining spirit herbs were mostly useless or dispensable. The truly useful items had already been completely consumed by Wen Yu and his three soul pets.

Specifically, all spirit herbs capable of raising the upper limit of one’s physical attributes had been divided and consumed.

And the effects were obvious.

Wen Yu’s physical attributes hadn’t changed drastically—13,598 points. Combined with the 2,001 points from his minor Soul Beast, his combat physical attributes could reach 15,599 points.

This placed him in the middle to upper stages of Level 7. Of course, with his Strong Power skill, Wen Yu was confident he could face any non-limit-breaking Level 7 lifeform head-on.

The ones who gained the most, however, were his three soul pets.

Under Wen Yu’s balanced allocation, the upper limits of Cyclops, Star, and Victor’s physical attributes had all been raised to around 10,000 points. Possessing physical attributes exceeding 8,000 points above the Peak Level 5 standard, even without Limit Breaking Abilities, the three soul pets now deserved the title of Breakthrough Achiever!

From this perspective, even with just the current gains, Wen Yu’s perilous journey to the Heavenly Palace Treasure Land had been well worth the risk.

...

Wen Yu didn’t meticulously check other areas of strengthening, such as sight and smell, as these couldn’t be easily assessed on the spot. The true extent of such enhancements and their effectiveness could only be determined through direct combat experience.

After a quick summary of his gains, Wen Yu immediately focused his attention on the Almighty Demon Vine.

At this moment, the purple light at the tip of the Almighty Demon Vine was brighter than ever before. Even though Wen Yu understood nothing about it, he could sense that the vine’s efforts to break the restriction were reaching their final stage.

POP.

A sound like a balloon bursting echoed. Immediately afterward, a blinding light flared from the pitch-black gate.

When the light subsided, the Almighty Demon Vine’s slightly weakened voice transmitted to him.

”Alright. It’s open!”

Saying this, the Almighty Demon Vine paid Wen Yu no mind. Its emerald-green body sprang towards the gate like a coiled spring, only to be snatched back by Wen Yu.

”What’s your hurry? There’s no one else here now. Everything inside belongs to us.”

I must say, your attitude really makes me suspicious...

The Almighty Demon Vine promptly relented.

”Okay, okay, you’re the boss, you’re amazing! Together, together. I was just trying to scout ahead for you, you know.”
