Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

A voice that seemed to be mocking echoed from the Almighty Demon Vine. However, in the next second, it wasn’t the Almighty Demon Vine that answered Wen Yu’s question, but Mo Xuan, who stood before him.

Mo Xuan respectfully held up the Token in both hands, then knelt, lightly touching his forehead to the ground. A voice, which could only be described as fanatical, came from his mouth, ”Greeting, Young Master!”

Then, a wave of voices followed, ”Greeting, Young Master!”

Looking at the natives of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes kneeling before him in droves, following Mo Xuan’s lead, Wen Yu nearly choked and spat out the drink in his mouth!

Young Master?

Wen Yu’s face was blank, but deep down, he urgently questioned the Almighty Demon Vine.

”A gold stripe indicates an Alliance Hierarch, while the absence of one implies a rank above the Alliance Hierarch. Only three people can wear this uniform...”

Ignoring the astonished Wen Yu, the Almighty Demon Vine continued, ”One is the founder of the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance and also its first Alliance Hierarch, the Almighty Immortal Emperor.”

”The second is the First Senior Disciple of the Almighty Immortal Emperor, a Level 11 transcendent powerful expert in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes who ranks only second to the Immortal Emperor—Heavenly Dao. Indeed, that fellow should have been resurrected on the Tenth floor of the Heavenly Palace by now.”

”The third one is the identity I arranged for you…”

The Almighty Demon Vine delivered its last sentence with a hint of hesitation.

However, Wen Yu did not detect the strangeness in the Almighty Demon Vine’s words. Struck on the head with this huge piece of news, Wen Yu felt dizzy and asked instinctively, ”What identity?”

”The son of the Almighty Immortal Emperor. Yes, his only son…”

Son... His son?

As if a bucket of cold water had been poured over his head, Wen Yu instantly sobered up!

Being his son is no small matter!

It’s not that I’m squeamish, but given the Almighty Immortal Emperor’s age and status, being his son would undoubtedly grant significant status and prestige. Plus, I might even profit from it.

However, many people would certainly know the identity of the Almighty Immortal Emperor’s sole heir. In other words, anyone of high status who had contact with the original holder of this identity would instantly see through my false identity upon laying eyes on me!

While this identity might serve me well in the Lower Heavenly Palace, it would be laughable once I got to the upper regions.

Just imagining himself being chased by a horde of Level 10 Breakthrough Achievers wielding Esoteric Level items, Wen Yu instantly felt the malice of the entire world.

Perhaps sensing Wen Yu’s anxiety, the Almighty Demon Vine sighed lightly.

”You are definitely a fake son, because the Almighty Immortal Emperor doesn’t have a son…”

”But the identity is genuine because this identity was established long before the Almighty Immortal Emperor’s death. Apart from that brat Heavenly Dao, no one could expose your false identity, and...”

”Heavenly Dao is aware of the whole scheme. He will intentionally cover for you.”

”So, you have nothing to fear. Your identity now is the only son of the Almighty Immortal Emperor, currently the most noble identity in the entire Heavenly Palace.”

”So, young man, now do you understand why I said the clothes and the Token are your biggest gains from this trip to the Heavenly Palace?”

Wen Yu gulped hard.

What does being the Almighty Immortal Emperor’s sole heir imply?

It signifies the second, or even first, highest status in the entire Heavenly Palace… With this identity...

Hold on, a thought flashed through Wen Yu’s mind.

Looking strangely at Mo Xuan and the others still kneeling motionlessly below, Wen Yu hesitated before saying to the Almighty Demon Vine, ”Let me float an idea by you. Since the Heavenly Palace is the Almighty Immortal Emperor’s residence, isn’t everything in it his?”

”Yes!”

The Almighty Demon Vine’s answer was very affirmative—the Heavenly Palace was indeed the Almighty Immortal Emperor’s private property.

”Alright, in your Universe of Immortals and Heroes, you have the principle of a son inheriting his father’s legacy, right?”

The Almighty Demon Vine didn’t answer Wen Yu’s question because it already knew what Wen Yu was trying to imply.

Wen Yu voiced his thoughts, as if talking to himself, ”My old man is dead, and I’m his only son. It’s only natural for me to inherit his estate. This logic is sound, right? The Heavenly Palace belonged to my old man, so there shouldn’t be any issue if I, his son, take it now.”

”In other words, the moment I assumed this identity, I’m practically the owner of this Heavenly Palace, right? Everything within the Heavenly Palace is mine, right?”

The Almighty Demon Vine was silent for a long time.

”Well, that’s one way of putting it…”

”But bloody hell, you really dare to dream big…”

”Oh? Are there any obstacles? According to you, only Heavenly Dao can tell if I’m genuine, and he’ll even cover for me. So, in reality, my identity *is* genuine. Now that I hold the identity of the Almighty Immortal Emperor’s son, who would dare stop me from taking whatever I want?”

The Almighty Demon Vine swiftly followed Wen Yu’s bandit logic and then immediately deflated.

The answer was, other than Heavenly Dao, indeed no one could or would dare to intervene.

However, Heavenly Dao currently has other matters to attend to and is trapped on the Tenth floor of the Heavenly Palace, unable to descend. This means that anywhere below the tenth floor, as long as Wen Yu is within the sphere of influence of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, he would be completely unrivaled!

Giving Wen Yu such a high status was originally intended to facilitate his actions and provide him with extra security. But who could have predicted Wen Yu’s rapacious nature?

This was truly inviting the wolf into the house!

「...」

SLAP!

A crisp slapping sound echoed in the quiet reception hall.

Mo Xuan quietly looked up and immediately saw the Young Master sitting in a chair, his expression flickering, the red palm print on his face slowly fading.

He quickly lowered his head. The image of Wen Yu’s unsightly behavior lingered in Mo Xuan’s mind for only a second before he forcibly banished it.

To witness the Young Master in such an unseemly state is a grave disrespect!

In truth, the Almighty Immortal Emperor’s prestige within the Heavenly Palace far exceeded Wen Yu’s imagination. Since the apocalypse, he had dominated the Universe of Immortals and Heroes for tens of thousands of years. The traces he left on the Universe of Immortals and Heroes were too profound for words to describe.

At this moment, however, Wen Yu paid no mind to Mo Xuan’s subtle movements below. He was busy regretting the foolish things he had just done.

The entire Heavenly Palace is mine now! If I want something, it’s just a matter of asking. Why did I have to waste energy and words running around, ’shopping’ for things?

And those military folks!

They’re rummaging about on the Second Layer of the Heavenly Palace. Isn’t that like digging up my ’old man’s’ grave?

Could he tolerate this? Wen Yu was certain he could not!

Admittedly, when such immense benefits—no, benefits vaster than the heavens themselves—had fallen into Wen Yu’s lap, he had readily accepted the identity of the Almighty Immortal Emperor’s son without any psychological burden.

I act as your son, you give me your inheritance.

Yes, that makes perfect sense!
