Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Sweeping through the S-Class medicinal herbs garden took several hours, but Wen Yu was satisfied with the results. An increase of over 3,000 physique points was indisputable, not to mention various other benefits like enhanced defensive power, visual acuity, and Perception Ability.

Watching Star heartily chew on Flame Light Grass, Wen Yu, with nothing else to do, sent a Spiritual Fluctuation in the Almighty Demon Vine’s direction.

”How are things on your end?”

”It’ll be several more hours. Don’t rush.”

He wasn’t in a hurry. With more benefits yet to be collected, why should he be?

Sometime later, after Star had devoured all the medicinal herbs Wen Yu brought back, Wen Yu checked its status. Disregarding various minor enhancements, its physique alone had risen to 3,258 points.

”Not bad.”

Wen Yu nodded with satisfaction.

And this was merely the harvest from the S-Class medicinal herbs garden. Ahead lay the SS-Class, SSS-Class, and the Esoteric Level gardens that the Almighty Demon Vine was currently tackling!

The sheer abundance of treasures and benefits in the Heavenly Palace was astonishing!

Turning, Wen Yu instructed Star to continue guarding. He then climbed onto Cyclops, simultaneously scanning its physique—4,256 points.

The effect of Great Feast differed somewhat from the Almighty Demon Vine’s absorption, primarily in speed. The Almighty Demon Vine could sprout countless tendrils, but Cyclops only possessed a single mouth, making the disparity in their enhancement speed obvious.

However, Great Feast was an Esoteric Level skill. Given that its effects weren’t limited to merely increasing the physique cap, Wen Yu considered Cyclops, now equipped with Great Feast, to be the soul pet with the greatest growth potential on his team.

After pondering the future development paths for his soul pets, Wen Yu patted Cyclops’ broad back.

”Let’s go. Go find Victor.”

「」

Returning to find Victor was a smooth process. In fact, everything had gone smoothly since they first entered the medicinal herbs garden.

There were no competitors, and it was foreseeable that there wouldn’t be any. The Fourth Floor of the Heavenly Palace’s medicinal herbs garden was currently like Wen Yu’s personal backyard, where he could take whatever he pleased.

Victor’s physique was not much different from Star’s. Both soul pets were severely constrained by their Level Lock, making Wen Yu’s need for Limit Breaking Abilities and items even more pressing.

Unfortunately, I don’t have the ability to extract skills from others!

In fact, ever since Wen Yu heard the Almighty Demon Vine’s explanation—particularly concerning the emergence of Breakthrough Achievers among Level 4 professionists in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes—he had been pondering a question. The military has methods to extract skills; I’m well aware of that. But can they extract skills from Demon Fiends and the dead souls from the Universe of Immortals and Heroes? If so, then for the military, the dead souls of Breakthrough Achievers within this treasure land would be the greatest prize. And at that point... Cooperation? Or should I just ignore them? If we cooperate, Tang Haofei and I would be responsible for capturing Limit Breakthrough Level dead souls, and I would request some Limit Breakthrough Level skills. But the issue of trust would still be difficult to resolve! The best of both worlds? How could there be so many win-win situations in this world! This is another incredibly difficult choice for me!

Still contemplating issues related to Limit Breaking Abilities or items, Wen Yu, carried by Cyclops, arrived at the SS-Class medicinal herbs garden.

Gazing at the dazzling array of Immortal Herbs and Spiritual Medicine before him, Wen Yu immediately summoned Victor and entered combat mode.

The Pitch-dark World and Netherworld, unleashing their dual Gravity Fields, swiftly enveloped the entire medicinal herbs garden. Within this domain, every spirit herb, as if grasped by an invisible hand, was torn from the earth. Then, under Wen Yu’s control, they amassed in piles before him.

This simple and efficient method, despite its high efficiency... Somehow, it lacks the thrill of the harvest, Wen Yu thought.

He employed the same method at the SSS-Class medicinal herbs garden. In a mere few minutes, Wen Yu had cleared it out completely.

Wen Yu took a moment to check on the Almighty Demon Vine’s progress. It was still etching strange symbols Wen Yu couldn’t comprehend onto the pitch-black gate. By now, countless complex runes had appeared on the gate, indicating its restriction was still active.

While the active restriction delayed Wen Yu’s entry, it also indirectly confirmed that the Esoteric Level item inside was likely perfectly preserved!

This is definitely good news, Wen Yu mused.

With time on his hands, Wen Yu decisively released Victor and then, using the power of the Soul Realm, recalled Star.

Several hours had passed without a single visitor to the Fourth Floor of the Heavenly Palace’s medicinal herbs garden. Neither Star nor Victor had detected any trace of Tang Haofei. Without him, Wen Yu faced virtually no competition in the Heavenly Palace. Furthermore, aside from the repository of Esoteric Level spirit herbs, Wen Yu had plundered everything else. Under these circumstances, having Star continue to stand guard seemed rather pointless.

Seeing his three soul pets standing before him, Wen Yu rubbed his hands together, a wide grin revealing his pearly white teeth.

”Alright, everyone,” he announced, ”let’s start dividing the spoils!”

”’Holy Element Grass (SSS-Class item),’ Wen Yu declared, holding one up. ’Eating this increases physique by 15 points. This one’s for Star.’”

”’Another Holy Element Grass, for Victor.’”

”’Nine Bends Ganoderma (SSS-Class item)... good for alchemy, but otherwise useless to us right now...’”

The hundreds of thousands of spirit herbs, under Wen Yu’s rapid sorting, were categorized: those that directly increased the physique limit, those that permanently enhanced combat power, those that temporarily boosted combat power, and those deemed utterly useless.

The task was enormous. Eventually, Wen Yu simplified his selection method: poisonous or non-poisonous.

He set the poisonous ones aside, directly feeding the non-poisonous ones to his soul pets. Benefits must be immediately converted into strength, Wen Yu thought. My own power must always be at its peak, with no room for immediate improvement. Hoarding treasures that can directly enhance strength instead of using them is foolish. Often, a mere few neglected physique points can decide the outcome of a battle!

Even though Wen Yu and his three soul pets sorted at a remarkable speed, they barely made a dent in the sheer volume of hundreds of thousands of spirit herbs.

More alarmingly, after just one round of consumption, the three soul pets’ stomachs were already visibly bloated. Wen Yu, with his naturally smaller stomach capacity, fared even worse.

He forcefully stuffed a spirit herb that could enhance his Hearing Ability into his mouth. It was dry and as tough as tree bark. So much for ’melts in your mouth’... Liars... Wen Yu silently bemoaned.
