Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Sensing the Slaughter God Sword was dilapidated, its spirit even on the verge of collapse, the Almighty Demon Vine stood motionless and wordless for a long moment.

Distant memories of its last battle in life swirled in its mind. Facing the Dominator’s unending power...

However, someone wasn’t going to give the Almighty Demon Vine much time to reminisce.

”SWOOSH!”

A wave of pitch-black energy swiftly swept past, like a whip lashing the Almighty Demon Vine’s body and sending it flying. Then, the black whip suddenly transformed. In mid-air, it morphed into a pitch-black hand that instantly seized the Slaughter God Sword fragments floating there!

”WHINE! WHINE! WHINE!”

The Slaughter God Sword emitted a series of sharp cries. An immense power surged through the black hand into Wen Yu’s body, making him feel an excruciating pain, as if he were being torn apart!

The mightiest divine sword, even if only its tip remained, was not to be trifled with!

However, Wen Yu was no pushover either.

Looking at the ancient-looking but severely damaged sword tip before him, Wen Yu felt a silent rage build within him.

These bastards, not a single one of them tells me the truth! If it weren’t for that bastard Lin Haifeng screwing me over several times, I wouldn’t have learned my lesson. This time, I might have been completely fooled by the Almighty Demon Vine! And here, being tricked by the cheat I brought with me, what would happen? Needless to say! Getting caught in a scheme laid by an Eleventh Level Old Monster—if I got tricked, losing a layer of skin would be getting off lightly!

At this thought, the coldness in Wen Yu’s eyes intensified. The power of the Netherworld spread rapidly, instantly enveloping the sword tip.

Simultaneously, his dark power erupted at full force. Endless darkness swept towards the sword tip like a tsunami.

The highly corrosive dark energy, like a blunt knife slowly cutting flesh, scraped away the Slaughter God Sword’s remaining spirit, layer by layer. At this rate, it probably wouldn’t take more than a few minutes for the once mighty Slaughter God Sword to be reduced to just a three-inch piece of unknown material.

The Almighty Demon Vine, still dizzy from Wen Yu’s earlier blow, had just regained its senses when it saw Wen Yu ”slowly executing” the Slaughter God Sword.

”Wait! Wen Yu, wait! It’s important!”

The desperate spiritual fluctuation transmitted into Wen Yu’s mind only elicited a contemptuous snort from him.

”Then hurry up and tell me what use it has. I think it can still hold on for a while.”

Wen Yu had no intention of easing up. After so many incidents, and given that he didn’t trust the Almighty Demon Vine, there was no way he would let this sword tip leave his control!

And the Almighty Demon Vine also understood Wen Yu’s personality—this fellow would absolutely not waste words if he could act. Reason, sentiment—these things were useless in Wen Yu’s eyes.

”This thing was my old master’s former weapon, an Esoteric Level item, the Slaughter God Sword!”

”My old master forged it from the Earth’s nucleus crystal core of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, so it contains a massive amount of Origin Energy from that world. Plus, my old master nurtured its blade with his own power for a long time, so it also contains his Soul Power. For you, it can provide Origin Energy from the Universe of Immortals and Heroes. For me, it’s a supplement that can strengthen my Soul Body!”

A series of spiritual fluctuations emanated from the Almighty Demon Vine. Seeing Wen Yu show no sign of easing his power output, the Almighty Demon Vine spoke again via spiritual transmission.

”Wen Yu, you should also know about my Soul Power. Forcibly opening the treasure land consumed too much of it. My Soul Body can’t hold out for much longer now. If you still need me, please, believe me this one time!”

Wen Yu couldn’t determine if the Almighty Demon Vine’s claim that its ”Soul Body can’t last much longer” was true or false.

This was because the Almighty Demon Vine’s Soul Power was too strong for Wen Yu to perceive accurately.

However, the Almighty Demon Vine’s importance here was self-evident to Wen Yu.

Before entering the treasure land, Wen Yu had already analyzed all the pros and cons clearly. Simply put, risks and rewards were proportional. Since he had followed the Almighty Demon Vine into this place, he had to accept the consequences of trusting it—whether those consequences were good or bad!

Whether it was benefits or the truth, without the Almighty Demon Vine, these would all be nothing but illusions, like flowers in a mirror or the moon reflected in water!

Wen Yu couldn’t afford the risk of losing the Almighty Demon Vine, his cheat.

So, Wen Yu slowly relaxed his dark power, but the power of the Netherworld remained firmly locked onto the sword tip.

With a gentle wave of his hand, the Slaughter God Sword drifted towards the Almighty Demon Vine like a dandelion seed head, tumbling in the air.

Staring intently at the Almighty Demon Vine, Wen Yu calmly spoke four words.

”You absorb, I watch!”

”Alright!”

The Almighty Demon Vine agreed very readily.

The next second, a large opening suddenly split at the top of the Almighty Demon Vine, and it directly swallowed the Slaughter God Sword’s tip.

Once upon a time, before its mutation, the Almighty Demon Vine could only absorb the flesh and blood of the Demon Tribe.

But after the Almighty Demon Vine’s mutation this time, Wen Yu suddenly felt he somewhat didn’t recognize its state...

Not only flesh and blood, but it can also absorb World Origin Energy. And now, it can even swallow metal?

Alright, what the Almighty Demon Vine absorbed wasn’t important. What mattered was that there had to be benefits!

As the Almighty Demon Vine’s branches pulsed, the originally three-inch sword tip visibly shrank, slowly melting within its body. Meanwhile, Wen Yu also felt a continuous stream of Origin Energy from the Universe of Immortals and Heroes being transmitted through the Almighty Demon Vine into his own body.

The amount was simply massive!!!

Compared to all the Origin Energy Wen Yu had absorbed since entering the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, this was at least hundreds, if not thousands, of times more!

For a moment, Wen Yu could only feel his entire body burning hot as an unknown power frantically reconstructed his physique.

If Wen Yu’s body were likened to a wooden barrel, this power was converging within him in a gentle yet effective manner. It would continue until, at a certain moment when enough power had filled him, the barrel would be shattered and then reconstructed in one go! A qualitative change would occur instantly!

This was the difference between a divine beast and a normal creature—a higher innate capacity, allowing them to bear more power. How could ordinary creatures possibly fight against divine beasts?

Wen Yu felt as comfortable and refreshed as if he were soaking in a hot spring. However, this physical pleasure couldn’t dispel Wen Yu’s wariness towards the Almighty Demon Vine.

Taking a moment to glance at the Almighty Demon Vine, Wen Yu could sense that during the process of absorbing the Slaughter God Sword, the Almighty Demon Vine’s condition seemed to have improved considerably.
