Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 192: Chapter 148 I Want to Tell You a Story!_1

”This...”

The bull demon looked at the closed Demon Realm’s Gate before it, its brain full of question marks! With its inferior mental abilities, it could not comprehend the changes it had just witnessed.

Fortunately, whether the Demon Realm’s Gate was closed or not didn’t matter. The bull demon was well aware of the rules of the battlefield between the two realms. It understood that whether or not there was a way out made no real difference in this destructive battle!

”But, how did that man in the black robe manage to do it?”

The bull demon scratched its head and once again curiously examined the Demon Realm’s Gate. Then, deciding that it couldn’t comprehend the mystery behind it, the bull demon roared in frustration, picked up its battle axe, and charged towards the rampaging Giant Dragon!

And then, it was sent flying by Little Dragon’s tail swipe!

「...」

When Cyclops ran to Sun Ruixing with Wen Yu in its jaws, Sun Ruixing was busy beating a Third-level Demon Fiend over the head with his shield.

”Old Sun, finish it off quickly and give me a hand!”

Hearing Wen Yu’s weak voice, Sun Ruixing finally became aware of Wen Yu’s arrival.

”How did you get injured so badly!”

Hearing Sun Ruixing’s exclamation, Wen Yu gave a bitter smile. ”It’s a long story!”

What just happened has filled my mind with question marks, too.

Never mind why I blanked out for no reason; the attitude of the man in the black robe at the end is what’s making me uneasy.

The shield in Sun Ruixing’s hand moved extremely fast. It didn’t take long for him to beat the low-powered Third-level Demon Fiend he was fighting into a pulp!

”My space ring! There are healing potions inside. Take them all out!”

Seeing that Sun Ruixing had taken care of his opponent, Wen Yu called out to him. After Sun Ruixing poured the healing potions into Wen Yu’s mouth, Wen Yu finally relaxed.

He first focused on the sensation of the wound on his back healing, then turned his head to observe the situation on the battlefield.

Unquestionably, the most eye-catching sight was Little Dragon, entrenched in the middle of the battlefield. Its violent power rampaged wildly, and within a hundred meters, no Demon Fiend could withstand the power of its Dragon Flame.

And that wasn’t all. Once it had killed all the Demon Fiends around it, Little Dragon immediately set its sights on the Third-level Demon Fiends in the distance! For Little Dragon, this was a Great Feast.

Without a doubt, after this battle, Little Dragon’s belly would benefit the most!

With Little Dragon present and the Demon Realm’s Gate having unknowingly closed completely, the Demon Fiends had no reinforcements. They also lacked the high-end combat power needed to resist Little Dragon. The current situation on the battlefield had completely tipped in favor of the Humans and mutant beasts!

Eliminating the remaining Demon Fiends was only a matter of time!

”Go on, Cyclops, kill as many as you can!”

This battle had brought Wen Yu benefits equivalent to zero; he had only gained a few points when Cyclops was blocking the Demon Realm’s Gate. In Wen Yu’s view, this was naturally not a good deal!

Hearing Wen Yu’s command, Cyclops immediately charged at a Third-level Demon Fiend on the battlefield!

”I’m going too,” Sun Ruixing said to Wen Yu, seemingly unwilling to give up these easily earned points.

「...」

By dusk, the battle was drawing to a close.

The ground was littered with the corpses of Demon Fiends and mutant creatures, but overall, there were more Demon Fiends. A few remaining Demon Fiends were still stubbornly resisting, but from the sharp, desperate roars they let out, it was not hard to guess their state of mind.

As the Flames of Tyranny spewed from Cyclops’s mouth, engulfing the Demon Tribe’s final defensive position, everything finally calmed down.

The battle was over!

By this point, Wen Yu’s injuries had completely healed. He stood between Cyclops and Little Dragon, taking in the scene of Chaihe Town after the great battle.

Unfortunately, it was not a beautiful sight. Dismembered limbs were everywhere, as were scars left behind by rampaging energy.

”It’s over. Thank you.” Wen Yu turned his head and sincerely thanked Little Dragon.

”No need... to be polite. I... also got... lots and lots... of tasty... food...” The innocent voice echoed in Wen Yu’s mind, making him smile.

He reached out his right hand, lightly stroking Little Dragon’s sturdy Scale Armor. Wen Yu lifted his chin, pointing at an Ancient Demon’s corpse not far away.

”Why didn’t you eat that one?”

Little Dragon answered earnestly, ”The tastiest... is saved... for last!”

”Then let’s make a deal. Look, if it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have known there was so much good food here. So, how about you share some of the magic crystals from their heads with me?”

That was clearly just twisting logic.

Little Dragon tilted its head, looked at Wen Yu, then at the pile of Third-level Demon Fiend corpses nearby, and nodded without much hesitation.

”You’re... right. Without you... I... wouldn’t have... good food.”

Having said that, its gigantic Dragon Claw waved generously. ”The hard things... in their heads... all for you! The meat... I’ll also share... half with you!”

Little Dragon’s generosity made Wen Yu a little embarrassed.

I feel like a bad uncle tricking a child out of candy, Wen Yu murmured silently to himself. Unfortunately, this advantage was too great for Wen Yu to give up.

Hearing Little Dragon’s generous reply, Wen Yu immediately walked forward, intending to cut open the Ancient Demon’s head and extract the magic crystals inside.

However, just then, the situation changed!

「...」

Just as Wen Yu was about to cut open the Ancient Demon’s head, the last fleeing Demon Fiend was killed by Cyclops’s claws!

The entire battlefield was now devoid of any Demon Fiends.

The moment the last Demon Fiend died, an ancient, weathered voice sounded in the minds of all Humans and mutant beasts, greeting them in a form that any creature could understand.

”Survivors of the current two-world battlefield, hello. You can call me—the Dominator!”

This voice, like that of a kind old man, was gentle yet powerful, and it made Wen Yu halt his actions. Looking up, Wen Yu scanned his surroundings, but unfortunately, he found nothing.

Dominator... I’ve heard this title more than once, but alas, due to my lack of power and authority, I know very little about this big boss hidden somewhere.

”What exactly are you?”

”Who are you?”

”What’s going on?”

All sorts of questions came from different Humans, but they received no direct answer. Once the commotion in the area subsided slightly, the Dominator’s voice sounded once more.

”As this is the first time the two-world battlefield has appeared on Earth, I felt I should personally come to see you brave warriors!”

”First of all, congratulations to you warriors of Earth. You have defeated the attacking Demon Fiends and achieved victory in the First Stage of the two-world battlefield!”

The Dominator’s words made Wen Yu’s heart sink.

First Stage!

That means... there’s also a Second Stage!

Having experienced the trials of the Flashing Bluestar, Wen Yu had developed a great resentment for these multi-stage trials.

What’s going on? How can there still be a Second Stage? Wen Yu tried to communicate with the Dominator’s will in his mind. Although I don’t know if it’s useful, I’m sure that with the Dominator’s ability, it definitely understands my thoughts right now!

”Don’t be in a hurry to ask questions,” the Dominator’s voice continued, seeming to possess an unknown magic that quickly calmed the rioting crowd. ”I want to tell you a little story first.”

”This story is called the Story of Chopsticks.”

”Once upon a time, there was a rich old man. When this rich old man was dying, he called his three sons to his bedside.”

”The rich man said to his sons, ’Now, I am about to die. It is time to divide my property.’”

”After saying that, the rich man took out a single chopstick and told his eldest son, ’Break it.’”

”Being an adult male, the eldest son easily broke the single chopstick.”

”Then, the rich man took out a bundle of chopsticks and continued, ’Now, break these.’”

”This time, despite trying his best, the eldest son couldn’t do anything to the bundle of chopsticks in his hand.”

”This... story... I heard... Grandpa Tree... tell it!” Little Dragon exclaimed proudly after hearing the Dominator’s ”story.”

”It’s about... unity! Right?”

Little Dragon blinked its large, pale yellow eyes nonstop, happily transmitting Spiritual Fluctuations all around.

”Yeah, I’ve heard it too. Isn’t this a story from a children’s reader?”

”Exactly! What’s this Dominator fellow getting at? Is this sneaky guy trying to feed us chicken soup for the soul now that the big battle is over, trying to dampen our urge to kill?”

”Seriously, enough with this useless talk! Hurry up and give us our rewards!”

Various voices from the crowd kept chiming in. Sun Ruixing quietly walked over to Wen Yu.

”What’s going on?”

Wen Yu shook his head at Sun Ruixing, indicating he had no idea what was currently happening.

Just as everyone was whispering amongst themselves and the mutant beasts were also in a state of chaos, the Dominator’s voice sounded again.

”Unity... that concept seems so distant now...”

The Dominator sighed first, then continued, ”You truly are a bunch of adorable beings!!!”

”However, this is where the story takes a little turn!!!”
