Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 169: Chapter 125 Fleeing in Defeat!_1

When the little creature completed its transformation in strength, its originally delicate appearance vanished completely, leaving only a giant creature lying quietly near the ancient tree.

Its vertical pupils were fixed on the Giant Eagle constantly flying in the sky, putting the Giant Eagle on edge!

A strong enemy!

A sense of danger radiated from the black crystal on its forehead, causing the Giant Eagle to scrutinize this never-before-seen creature on the ground even more closely!

It was nearly 10 meters long and stood 3 meters tall even when lying down. Its entire body, covered in black, shiny Scale Armor, glinted with a cold luster. Two curved horns, like a bull’s, stood tall upon its forehead.

Its tail, covered in black scales, swayed back and forth, the immense force stirring up gusts of wind. Rows of sharp fangs filled its huge mouth.

Its snake-like vertical pupils stared coldly at the Giant Eagle endlessly circling in the sky. Then...

A monstrous roar erupted from the creature’s mouth!

The intensity of the roar caused even the mutant beasts guarding the ancient tree to become restless!

As the roar echoed, the monster spread its wings!

A fierce gust of wind swept past. The monster slowly ascended into the sky, darting towards the Giant Eagle!

”SCREECH...”

The Giant Eagle let out a piercing cry. Faced with the approaching monster, icy fury surged from its eyes!

Now, the showdown between the kings was about to begin.

The victor would claim everything!

Therefore, retreat was not an option!

The powers of frost and flame constantly intertwined, accompanied by violent Energy Fluctuations. The monster’s roar and the Giant Eagle’s shrieks continued to reverberate.

In the sky, the blood of the two kings splattered and flew!

This was a battle that would decide the destiny of this land!

...

The battle raged on, and the mutant beasts below had already retreated far away.

Forget the frost and lava constantly falling from above; even the roars of the two monsters were more than Level 2 creatures could withstand.

As the sounds echoed into the distance, the dark sky flashed continuously with white and red light, startling the sleeping people in the distant settlement!

”What’s going on?”

Wen Yu squinted, listening to the continuous explosions from the distant mountains and observing the dazzling light further afield. What’s going on? he couldn’t help but wonder.

Just by observing the distant Energy Fluctuations, Wen Yu could sense that the battle unfolding there was of an extremely high level.

After a moment, Wen Yu shook his head, dressed, and headed downstairs.

Sun Ruixing and Sun Aotian, also in the room, were awakened by the loud noise. Seeing Wen Yu head downstairs, they quickly followed.

Downstairs in the open area of the settlement, almost every survivor was gazing into the distance, chattering incessantly.

”Brother Wen Yu.”

Seeing Wen Yu, Zhang Wenhu immediately walked over and handed him a cigarette.

”Can you tell what’s going on?”

Wen Yu exhaled a smoke ring. Looking at the constantly erupting Energy Fluctuations in the distance, he nodded slightly.

”By my estimation, it’s likely two mutant beasts battling.”

Zhang Wenhu smacked his lips.

”Those two beasts are incredibly powerful!”

Wen Yu nodded.

In fact, Wen Yu didn’t need to say anything. The distant sounds and the vast white and red lights in the sky were enough for anyone to sense how strong these two mutant beasts were.

According to Wen Yu’s estimates, even one of them possessed strength almost equivalent to his own.

This estimate even included his own strength when accounting for Cyclops!

”Let’s wait a bit. After the battle ends, I’ll go take a look,” Wen Yu said to Zhang Wenhu.

Hearing Wen Yu’s words, Zhang Wenhu’s eyes immediately lit up.

For this small settlement, these two monsters were undoubtedly a nightmarish presence.

However, for Wen Yu, they were merely a somewhat tricky problem.

More importantly, Wen Yu’s strength had reached the Third-level, yet he still didn’t have his third soul pet!

Either of those two mutant beasts in the distance would undoubtedly qualify as my Soul Pet No. 3!

”Then we’ll be troubling you, Brother Wen Yu,” Zhang Wenhu said with a grin.

Wen Yu merely shrugged.

This is something I’d do anyway, regardless of who asked.

...

The battle continued for the better part of half a day!

When the Giant Eagle had used its Pitch-dark Resurrection ability for the umpteenth time, it knew it had lost this battle.

The wounds on its body healed rapidly, but it felt its physical strength draining considerably. It looked again at the opposing monster; though covered in scars, the monster remained vigorous. Without a second word, the Giant Eagle turned and fled!

Losing the battle meant the loss of its status as king, but as long as its life wasn’t forfeit, there was still hope.

Moreover, during the battle, the Giant Eagle had sensed that in terms of sheer flying speed, the terrifyingly powerful monster could not catch it.

After all, hawk species held an advantage in flying speed!

Seeing the Giant Eagle fly further and further away, the monster remained stationary, making no attempt to chase.

The outcome of the battle was clear; besides, it knew it couldn’t catch up.

When strengths were equal, killing an opponent was an exceedingly difficult task, especially when the opponent was determined to flee.

”ROAR...”

The monstrous roar reverberated far into the distance, announcing to the forest the arrival of its new overlord!

...

”It’s over,” Wen Yu said softly, watching the distant Energy Fluctuations gradually dissipate.

”You guys wait here for a moment. I’m going to take a look in the forest.”

After speaking to Sun Ruixing and Zhang Wenhu beside him, Wen Yu activated his 2nd Soul Realm and summoned Cyclops.

Cyclops’s towering, four-meter-plus figure caused a slight commotion among the people in the settlement.

”Old friend, it’s been a while!” Wen Yu patted Cyclops’s body. For the past few days, Cyclops had remained in the 2nd Soul Realm.

”WOOF.”

”Boss, I’m starving!”

That was the only thing Cyclops wanted to convey!

Wen Yu felt helpless as well. During the final stages of the treasure land trial, he had only managed to survive thanks to the Blood and Flesh Badge, so he hadn’t been able to summon Cyclops.

”Let’s go. I’ll get you something good to eat.”

With that, Wen Yu led Cyclops directly towards the forest.

...

The Giant Eagle soared through the sky, glancing back at the place where it had just battled. A glint of cold resentment shone in its eyes.

This grudge... I’ll settle it sooner or later!

But now, its physical strength had dropped to a dangerous level. It couldn’t even think about activating Pitch-dark Resurrection again; even flying made the Giant Eagle feel a wave of weakness.

I need to hunt first. Not too far from here, there are plenty of Humans!
