Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 166: Chapter 122: Sun Aotian’s Thoughts (Extra Additions for Qindao Person’s Bounty! One more update tonight!)_1

”Let’s go. This drinking party has come to an end. I’ll first arrange a place for Brother Wen Yu to rest,” Zhang Wenhu said, then led Wen Yu and Sun Ruixing out. Sun Ruixing, seeing Sun Aotian lying pathetically on the ground, couldn’t quite bear it. He hoisted Sun Aotian onto his shoulder and left with Wen Yu.

Wen Yu followed Zhang Wenhu as they moved slowly through the settlement.

Evidently, Zhang Wenhu was quite capable; the settlement showed no signs of unrest despite the change in leadership. The streets were clean, and life proceeded in an orderly fashion. After all, since Wen Yu had defeated the Corpse King, the overall environment in Chaihe Town had become considerably safer for the survivors!

”Brother Wen Yu,” Zhang Wenhu began as they walked, ”ever since I arrived, I’ve often heard Zang Pengfei and the others speak of your great reputation. I knew that with your strength, Brother Wen Yu, you would never fall to a mere treasure land. I’ve kept your previous living quarters completely untouched. In fact, this house will be yours from now on! Brother Wen Yu, whenever you get tired from your ventures outside, just come back here to rest. My doors will always be open to welcome you!”

By the time Zhang Wenhu finished speaking, they had arrived at the door of the room Zang Pengfei had originally arranged for Wen Yu. Zhang Wenhu opened the door and gestured for Wen Yu to enter.

Wen Yu walked into the room and looked around. Not only had nothing been changed, but there were also clear signs of regular cleaning.

”You are truly thoughtful, brother,” Wen Yu nodded to Zhang Wenhu.

”It’s only what I should do!” Zhang Wenhu said with a broad smile. ”Well, I must be going. By the way, I must apologize to Brother Aotian on behalf of my good-for-nothing son.”

Having said this, Zhang Wenhu didn’t wait for Sun Aotian’s response and simply walked out.

This man is really something! Wen Yu marveled to himself. Setting aside his manner of speaking and handling affairs, just this house alone was a testament to how perfectly Zhang Wenhu had managed things. While Wen Yu was absent, everything related to him had been meticulously preserved, as if to cultivate good karma. Simultaneously, this preempted any possible grounds for Wen Yu to find fault. The whole affair was handled flawlessly!

The only blemish was the matter concerning Bai Feifei. According to my estimation, Wen Yu thought, this was likely a classic case of a son messing things up for his father. Zhang Wenhu is probably still fuming. Zhang Lifei is definitely in for a harsh scolding later!

”We should leave tomorrow,” Sun Ruixing said to Wen Yu, having just placed Sun Aotian on the sofa. ”This man’s cunning is a bit frightening!”

”Yeah,” Wen Yu nodded.

When it comes to tactics and scheming, I’m definitely not strong in that area, Wen Yu mused. That’s why I hate playing tricks on others, or having others play tricks on me. I’d rather not have too much contact with people like Zhang Wenhu unless it’s absolutely necessary!

”Brother Wen Yu,” came a voice. It was Sun Aotian, lying on the sofa.

Wen Yu turned and carefully examined Sun Aotian’s wounds. ”That fellow, Zhang Lifei, his physical attributes are around 40 points, higher than yours. It’s normal that you couldn’t beat him. As for your wounds, with the physique of a Level 2 professionist, they’ll heal on their own in less than a day, even without a healing potion.”

”That’s not what I meant, Brother Wen Yu,” Sun Aotian said, his voice laced with intense hatred. ”I want you to kill them for me!”

Only then did Wen Yu take a closer look at Sun Aotian’s expression. His face was ashen and dejected. Clearly, the double blow to his body and spirit was causing Sun Aotian to crumble.

Ultimately, he’s still just a kid with extremely little real-world experience! Wen Yu thought. But what does any of this have to do with me?

”No,” Wen Yu stated, shaking his head decisively.

Setting aside my own unwillingness to stir up more trouble, just based on Zhang Wenhu’s attitude towards me and the nature of this incident, there’s no way I would kill them!

Hearing Wen Yu’s refusal, Sun Aotian sat up. He grabbed Wen Yu’s hand, his eyes red-rimmed. ”Brother Wen Yu, I beg you!”

Looking at Sun Aotian’s tear-filled eyes, Wen Yu’s heart... suddenly felt a wave of disgust.

He’s acting! Sun Aotian is putting on a show!

Wen Yu had always seen Sun Aotian as a child—sometimes a bit eccentric, sometimes prone to adolescent fantasies, and at other times, a little insecure. But I had always overlooked one thing. How could such a person have become the ’Little Sky’ of the camp back then? How could he have rivaled Zang Pengfei? A sixteen or seventeen-year-old, even in peaceful times, can’t really be considered a mere child anymore! With the vast amount of information on the internet, people that age know what they should, and even what they perhaps shouldn’t!

Looking at Sun Aotian’s pleading gaze, Wen Yu suddenly found it all rather pointless. He pulled his hand away from Sun Aotian’s grasp and turned towards the bedroom.

There was no need to say anything else, nor any need to get angry. I just found it all rather trite. I had never truly considered Sun Aotian one of my own. And Sun Aotian, perhaps he never truly saw me as the ’Brother Wen Yu’ he was always calling me. Using my strength—that was his fundamental goal all along!

”Ah, trust between people... where has it all gone?” Wen Yu muttered to himself as the bedroom door closed heavily behind him.

”Sigh, Little Sky, what can I say about you,” Sun Ruixing lamented, shaking his head before walking towards another bedroom. Clearly, with his worldly experience, Sun Ruixing had also noticed something was amiss.

Sun Aotian was left alone, sitting on the sofa with a vicious expression. Glaring hatefully at Wen Yu’s closed door, he snarled in a voice barely audible, ”I’ve fucking groveled before you for so long! And you won’t even do this one small thing for me?”

As the words left his lips, the hatred in Sun Aotian’s eyes intensified.

To say he felt no hatred after being cuckolded and then thrashed by the man who did it would be entirely unrealistic! But after Wen Yu’s refusal, this hatred festered and intensified within him, even beginning to shift towards Wen Yu!

Evidently, Sun Aotian had selectively forgotten the considerable help Wen Yu had given him during the treasure land trial. People are often like that. The adage ”A small gift of rice earns gratitude, a large one breeds enmity” is by no means without reason.

”And Bai Feifei, that bitch! And Zhang Lifei, that bastard! They all deserve to die!” The hatred in Sun Aotian’s heart grew ever stronger.

Slowly closing his eyes, Sun Aotian sank into deep thought. After a long while, he shook his head bitterly.

In the end, the power gap is just too vast. There’s really no good solution.

Sun Aotian had a bit of cunning, so he wasn’t the type to do something as futile as throwing an egg against a rock. For now, this burning hatred was firmly suppressed deep within his heart.
