Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 179: Chapter 135 Return to the Camp!_1

”These... they are... in this area... my... subordinates. All of them.” The Giant Dragon’s Spiritual Fluctuation was transmitted. Although it had grown in size, the naivety in its Spiritual Fluctuation hadn’t changed at all. Therefore, Wen Yu easily sensed the smugness in the Giant Dragon’s words. Just like a child impatiently showing off to their parents after getting first place in an exam.

”Not enough.”

Wen Yu turned his head for a careful look around before speaking. ”I need more mutant beasts—all the mutant beasts in the area covered by the Black Light!” Wen Yu said seriously.

This time, without Wen Yu’s instruction, Cyclops immediately offered a translation.

After a while, the Giant Dragon nodded. ”I... was just... born... I haven’t... had time... to gather... more.”

”Seven days... There are still... seven days.”

”Alright...”

The agreement was reached. Given the Giant Dragon’s current innocence, Wen Yu was very confident that it would fulfill all terms of the agreement!

”Then, seven days later, in the town below, I look forward to fighting alongside you!”

Seeing the Giant Dragon nod seriously, Wen Yu turned and left with Cyclops. Outside, a host of mutant beasts scattered, clearing a path for them!

「...」

Wen Yu and Cyclops returned the same way they came, without incident.

When they returned to the settlement, Wen Yu noticed that the people there still hadn’t retreated to rebuild the defensive line as he had suggested. He couldn’t help but frown.

”Where’s Zhang Wenhu?” Wen Yu grabbed one of the professionists and asked.

”Brother Hu is over there.”

Following the professionist’s directions, Wen Yu found Zhang Wenhu. They were in a simple supermarket; of course, everything inside had been cleared out, leaving only a vast empty space. Sun Ruixing, Sun Aotian, and all the senior members of the camp were gathered there. Before Wen Yu even walked in, the din from inside the supermarket was already audible.

”I say there’s no need to leave! So what if it’s just a broken gate? Our settlement has developed for so long. The infrastructure is established, and the defensive measures are complete. Why should we leave just because he says so?”

The voice was so loud that Wen Yu, who hadn’t even entered the supermarket yet, could hear it clearly. Then came a chorus of agreement from most of the people inside.

Hearing this, Wen Yu’s brows furrowed. Most of the camp’s upper echelons are controlled by Zhang Wenhu through contracts. This current ’debate’ is merely a show orchestrated by Zhang Wenhu, using his men as puppets. This also represents Zhang Wenhu’s stance: he doesn’t want to abandon the camp. Letting his underlings speak is just a way of saving face for both himself and me.

SQUEAK.

As the glass door opened, all eyes in the supermarket turned toward Wen Yu.

”Brother Wen Yu, sorry you had to hear that,” Zhang Wenhu said, smiling as he greeted Wen Yu.

Wen Yu looked at Zhang Wenhu’s smiling face and shook his head. ”It’s nothing, really. To each their own, I suppose. Everyone has their own ideas.”

The supermarket doors were glass. Wen Yu wouldn’t believe for a second that the people inside hadn’t seen him approach. The person who just spoke deliberately raised their voice. That clearly indicates Zhang Wenhu’s attitude. Those words were meant for me: ’We don’t want to leave this camp.’

”Let’s go, Old Sun.” Wen Yu couldn’t be bothered to say more to these people who didn’t understand the situation. He called Sun Ruixing, turned, and began to leave.

”Wait, Brother Wen Yu!” Seeing Wen Yu turn, Zhang Wenhu suddenly grew anxious. ”Brother Wen Yu, look, you’re making things difficult. If it were up to me, we’d fight that so-called Demon Tribe right here in the settlement! It’s not yet certain who would win or lose. There’s no need to abandon this settlement. Besides, this is what most people want. Isn’t there strength in numbers?”

Wen Yu looked intently at Zhang Wenhu and slowly shook his head. ”Large numbers don’t necessarily mean great strength. In the current situation, more people simply mean more dead weight! I’ll give you a piece of advice. That thing,” Wen Yu pointed directly at the distant Demon Realm’s Gate, ”its terrifying nature is far beyond your imagination. If you all want to wait here to die, that’s your choice, but I won’t be joining you!”

Seeing Zhang Wenhu’s conflicted expression, Wen Yu walked straight out of the supermarket. Sun Ruixing and Sun Aotian followed closely behind. Both of them knew what the Demon Tribe was. They also understood that these people, planning to rely on so-called sandbag barricades for defense right in front of the Demon Realm’s Gate, were dreaming. It was a complete joke!

Watching Wen Yu and the others depart, a flicker of indecision crossed Zhang Wenhu’s eyes. For people like him, it’s hard to trust others’ judgment. This can be a strength, but also a weakness. An old saying perfectly describes this trait: They refuse to accept reality until they’re faced with a dead end. Zhang Wenhu wouldn’t abandon this camp. For one thing, he had invested too much effort in securing it. For another, he felt Wen Yu’s words had ulterior motives. Furthermore... Zhang Wenhu looked at his profession and skills, his eyes growing more resolute. As long as there was even a sliver of hope, he wouldn’t leave this campsite! And right now, in this camp, his word was law!

”Get ready, everyone!” Zhang Wenhu shouted to his followers. ”We’re going to take on those damn Demon Tribe members right here!”

As Zhang Wenhu gave orders, the entire small camp stirred into action.

「...」

”Where are we going?” Sun Ruixing, walking behind Wen Yu, asked.

”Anywhere. Hmm, let’s find a place with complex terrain,” Wen Yu said to the two behind him.

Both nodded. After witnessing the Demon Tribe’s numbers and strength, both had a general idea of what they were up against. Complex terrain would be the best option for a small group of humans fighting a large number of Demon Tribe members. At the very least, it would ensure they wouldn’t be easily surrounded. Unfortunately, Sun Ruixing had already explained all this to Zhang Wenhu during their earlier discussion. The man simply didn’t believe him.

”What about the people in the camp...” Sun Ruixing began. He had hoped Wen Yu would take the people from the camp to find another location, especially since the current camp’s surroundings weren’t ideal. He hadn’t expected Wen Yu to give up on the camp entirely.

”We can’t manage the camp’s situation!” Wen Yu bluntly cut off Sun Ruixing’s next words, sighing internally. This guy’s savior complex is flaring up again...
