Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 188: Chapter 144 King vs King!_1

Wen Yu paid no attention to the scattered minor movements behind him, nor could he afford to!

Because Wen Yu was currently staring intently at the two Demon Fiends before him!

Ancient Demon Aros and Black Robe!

The Demon Fiends and mutant beasts had already cleared the space between their respective sides.

Because only Third-level creatures had the ability to participate in battles of this caliber, and now the Third-level creatures on both sides had already found their opponents.

Every battle involving Third-level creatures was equivalent to a small-scale catastrophe.

For weaker beings, recklessly joining such a fight would only result in a pointless death!

In the distance, Demon Fiends continued to emerge from the Demon Realm’s Gate. Although their numbers were small, they were undeniably still arriving.

Wen Yu hadn’t read many books, but he understood principles like ”a steady stream carves through stone” and ”perseverance pays off.”

The number of Demon Fiends was now almost equal to that of Earth’s creatures. If their reinforcements continued to pour in, defeat for the humans and mutant beasts was only a matter of time.

More critically, the Demon Fiends possessed more Third-level combatants than the mutant beasts. If another Third-level Demon Fiend emerged from the Demon Realm’s Gate, the situation could very well collapse.

”Cyclops, go block the Demon Realm’s Gate.”

At Wen Yu’s command, Cyclops, wreathed in black Flames of Tyranny, bypassed Ancient Demon Aros and Black Robe, rushing toward the Demon Realm’s Gate.

Cyclops’s strength was, of course, self-evident. On this battlefield, it was undoubtedly among the most powerful. Once Cyclops blocked the Demon Realm’s Gate, the outcome of this battle would exceed Aros’s predictions.

Wen Yu didn’t know how many more Demon Fiends remained within the Demon Realm’s Gate, but Aros did.

Those Demon Fiends would directly determine the outcome of this battle.

So, upon seeing Cyclops’s movement, Ancient Demon Aros roared and charged fiercely at it.

Four sharp claws swept towards Cyclops’s body, a crazed ruthlessness and tyranny surging in Aros’s eyes.

Ultimately, the greatest strength of the Ancient Demon Tribe lay in their combat prowess; making them commanders was not a particularly wise decision.

However, before Aros’s four arms could strike Cyclops, they were intercepted by a sharp claw.

Little Dragon, on Cyclops’s back, rapidly enlarged its right claw. A single slap sent Aros flying, and then Little Dragon’s entire body suddenly grew drastically in size.

By the time Aros scrambled to his feet, he faced the supreme ruler of these woods.

Its ten-meter-tall body was covered in glistening black scales. Its enormous teeth and sharp claws glinted coldly, and its pair of vertical pupils stared intently at Aros.

Cyclops, meanwhile, had long since vanished without a trace.

”Heh, interesting!”

Aros was silent for a moment, then a sneer spread across his face as he addressed Little Dragon.

”Well then, you must taste delicious! Eating you should allow me to advance... no, it will definitely allow me to advance!”

Perfectly standard Mandarin flowed from Aros’s mouth. But, despite all that, Little Dragon... didn’t! Under! Stand! A! Single! Word!

A trickle of glistening saliva dripped from the massive dragon’s mouth, landing on the ground with a SIZZLE! SIZZLE!

Little Dragon stared intently at Aros, only one thought in its mind:

It smells so good!

...

As Cyclops, carrying Little Dragon on its back, ran toward the Demon Realm’s Gate, Aros pursued closely.

Thus, only Black Robe and Wen Yu remained in the center of the battlefield.

Wen Yu stared intently at the Demon Tribe member before him, waves of danger washing over him.

This Demon Fiend before me is incredibly strong! That was Wen Yu’s first thought.

Swinging the Touch of Greed, Wen Yu killed a Soot Skin Demon Fiend that had charged toward him, his eyes remaining fixed on Black Robe.

Then, a piercing cackle reached Wen Yu’s ears.

”KEKEKEKE, where is the item?”

”Item?”

Confused, Wen Yu stared at Black Robe, not understanding his words at all.

Black Robe scrutinized Wen Yu’s eyes for a long moment before shaking his head.

”I was mistaken. It turns out you’re merely a wisp of consciousness. In that case, there’s no longer any need for you to exist!”

As Black Robe finished speaking, the five clusters of black flames behind him suddenly flared brighter.

*Black Flame Puppet (S-class, Active Ability): Puppets are refined from living bodies; their strength increases with the host’s strength. Puppets possess an Elemental Body, Flame Ejection, and Malicious Oppression abilities. The maximum number of puppets is determined by the host’s strength.*

Five clusters of black flame meant five puppets.

The eerie black flames coalesced into humanoid forms, complete with limbs and indistinct facial features. The immense heat radiating from them forced the nearby combatants to quickly retreat.

By the time the five Black Flame Puppets landed, Wen Yu had already entered his combat stance.

However, Black Robe wasn’t finished.

As Black Robe shot a Black Light from his right hand toward the five puppets, they immediately began to transform.

The five Black Flame Puppets let out indecipherable shrieks, and endless negative emotions condensed into tangible ripples, spreading out in all directions.

Wherever the ripples passed, the eyes of the affected creatures instantly turned red, and their attacks became even more violent and ferocious.

These ripples stoked the killing intent and savage emotions within the creatures.

But this was merely an auxiliary effect.

*Homogenisation (A-Class, Active Skill): Fuses objects of the same nature into a single unit. After assimilation, the assimilated object’s nature remains unchanged, but its strength increases.*

This ability could be considered more supportive than combat-oriented. However, when Black Robe used Homogenisation on the five Black Flame Puppets, the effect produced was astonishing.

The five Black Flame Puppets swiftly intertwined, merging into a black, spherical mass. Immense heat radiated outwards, giving Wen Yu the illusion that the very air was scorching.

In a short time, the black sphere rapidly transformed. Four of the Black Flame Puppets vanished, leaving behind a single creature whose appearance had drastically changed.

It stood three meters tall, its previous form of erupting black flames entirely gone. Instead, it was clad in pure black full-body armor, intricately engraved with complex patterns. Inside its helmet, two clusters of black flames swirled. It held a massive battle axe that constantly flickered with black fire.

Then, as Black Robe pointed with his right hand, the five-in-one Black Flame Puppet lunged at Wen Yu.

The massive battle axe chopped down but was blocked by Wen Yu’s Touch of Greed.

From this brief exchange, Wen Yu could roughly gauge the puppet’s physical attributes.

They were nearly on par with Wen Yu’s in his combat state.

Glancing at Black Robe in the rear and then at the Black Flame Puppet before him, Wen Yu made his decision.

Beckoning to Black Robe, Wen Yu dodged the attacking Black Flame Puppet with a flicker of movement and sprinted away.

”Follow him and kill him!” Black Robe commanded the Black Flame Puppet. It then pursued Wen Yu, with Black Robe following closely behind, as they headed towards the distant mountains.

This was Wen Yu’s plan. Given that he was weaker than his opponent, as long as he could stall Black Robe and the Black Flame Puppet, Wen Yu would consider it a success.

As for the others...

Wen Yu turned his head to look at Cyclops, who was blocking the Demon Realm’s Gate, and then at Little Dragon, who was fiercely battling Ancient Demon Aros.

It’s all up to you two now!
