The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

He Tiantian caught it once again.

Tsk, she really hadn’t guessed wrong.

”No! I, I wasn’t driven out of Prince Qi’s Mansion!” Wei Yong’s House stubbornly refused to admit it.

He Tiantian kept stripping away her disguise, ”If you weren’t kicked out of the Prince Mansion for making a mistake, then why did you fall from serving in a dignified Prince Mansion to working in a Commandery Prince’s Mansion where you’re not favored?”

”And don’t give me that excuse about ’if I really made a mistake, the Princess Consort would have sent me back to the Internal Affairs Office’!”

”I haven’t forgotten, you just said that during the two princes’ rebellion, you once stayed alone beside the Princess Consort who was about to give birth, and protected the Princess Consort and her daughter!”

That counts as a major merit, too.

Princess Qi, recognizing Wei Yong’s House’s merit in protecting her, would remember this favor.

So, when Wei Yong’s House later made a mistake, the Princess Consort showed leniency, only sending her out of Prince Qi’s Mansion instead of back to the Internal Affairs Office for punishment.

”Princess Qi, mindful of your past merit in protecting her, didn’t drive you to absolute ruin. She even left you some dignity, letting you, as a former maid of Princess Qi, transfer over to serve in Prince Yongchang’s Mansion!”

He Tiantian looked at Wei Yong’s House and said coldly, ”Princess Qi probably never imagined, even in her dreams, that her momentary kindness would let a poisonous snake slip away—”

Maybe it was because He Tiantian had directly hit the truth, or maybe He Tiantian’s words were too harsh.

The last shred of rationality in Wei Yong’s House completely vanished; in her still-charming eyes surged thick resentment, ”Nonsense! You’re talking nonsense!”

”That cheap woman Pingkang is no kind soul, and I, I’m even less of a poisonous snake!”

”I saved her, you know! In the midst of rebel soldiers, out in the desolate countryside—if not for me, that mother and daughter would have either been ravaged by rebels people or fed to the wolves!”

”And what happened? I merely fell in love with a guard of the Prince Mansion. After Pingkang found out, she not only refused to bless us, she even had the Prince cane him, then pretended to be benevolent by driving me out of the Prince Mansion!”

”My Brother Ah Lang was beaten into grievous injury on the spot and eventually died of it. And me? All alone, pitiful and miserable, with nowhere to go, almost getting preyed on by scum...”

He Tiantian: ...Hear that? This is the thought process of a top-grade specimen.

She made a mistake and got punished, yet she doesn’t blame herself; instead she blames others for not being kind enough, not generous enough, not willing to tolerate all her faults.

If she really liked the guard and wanted to fly off with him, she could’ve just spoken straight to the Princess Consort.

He Tiantian figured that Princess Qi, if for nothing else than to repay that past merit of protection, would have blessed the little pair of lovebirds.

But Wei Yong’s House just had to keep quiet and secretly have an affair with the guard in the Prince Mansion, probably even getting caught in the act.

No matter how kind or magnanimous Princess Qi is, she’s still the mistress of a Prince Mansion. She has to safeguard the rules and reputation of the Prince Mansion.

She only found a pretext to have the guard caned, didn’t lay a hand on Wei Yong’s House, didn’t send anyone off for formal punishment, merely expelled her. He Tiantian felt Princess Qi had already honored the sentiment from back then!

Unfortunately, she ran into a top-grade case like Wei Yong’s House.

As for Princess Yongning—tsk—though He Tiantian had only just arrived in the Capital City not long ago, she’d already heard plenty about her deeds—

Arrogant and domineering, spoiled and willful.

Even the daughters of official families, if they offended her, she would lash them with a whip in public.

Let alone commoners living hand-to-mouth, or even more lowly slaves.

Chances are Wei Yong’s House, or her family, had once been humiliated by Princess Yongning.

New grudges and old hatreds, Wei Yong’s House had remembered them all.

In the past she had no way to ”take revenge” on Prince Qi’s Mansion, but when she saw ”He Dian,” whose looks were strikingly similar to Princess Qi’s, a sudden flash of inspiration lit up Wei Yong’s House’s mind, and she came up with such a vicious scheme.

She not only retaliated against the Princess Consort and her daughter, she could also gain wealth and glory for herself.

Absolutely killing two birds with one stone.

Wei Yong’s House had calculated everything, yet she missed one crucial point—

He Tiantian was not the original female lead; she would not be blinded by riches and thus become complicit, committing the grave crime of deception.

”No! That’s not it, this, this is all just me spouting nonsense!”

After venting, Wei Yong’s House finally realized she had lost control and blurted out a lot of secrets.

She hurriedly reined in her emotions, trying to cover it all up with a joke, ”Miss, listen to me, you really are the Princess Consort’s own daughter!”

”Princess Qi, she’s the only beloved daughter of Eldest Princess An Le, and the Emperor’s most pampered cousin. I heard the Emperor even plans to adopt her son as the Crown Prince—”

That’s the most exalted thing about Prince Qi’s Mansion: the current sovereign has no sons and can only adopt from the Imperial Family.

Prince Qi is the Emperor’s own younger brother, and Princess Qi is the daughter of the Eldest Princess who once granted the Emperor great favor. Their son is the most suitable heir.

Once Princess Qi’s son becomes Crown Prince, Princess Qi will become a figure whose status is no less than the Empress Dowager.

Her daughter may not hold a Princess title, but she would possess power and prestige surpassing any Princess...
