The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Gu Jingyuan was polite yet grateful.

He suddenly felt that even though he had forgotten his wife and lost the affection between them,

he had to admit that Ma Family was very good, a true virtuous wife and loving mother!

”There’s no need for you to be so polite, Third Young Master. We are a married couple. I am your wife, it’s only right for me to serve you well!”

Ma Family spoke courteous words, but secretly rolled her eyes countless times and cursed ”scumbag” and ”dog of a man” many times!

Under the complicated gaze of Gu Jingyuan, Ma Family exited the study and returned to her own main chamber.

”Fei Cui, did you ask Ah Xin to inquire with Ma Zhong? What did Ma Zhong say?”

Just upon returning to her room, Ma Family dismissed the maids around her, leaving only her trusted head maid Fei Cui.

Fei Cui stood close to Ma Family, lowered her voice, and quietly reported, ”Replying to Third Young Madam, this slave has asked!”

”Ma Zhong said that there wasn’t anything special along the way, just one thing: when they had just left Shanyin County, that He Dian seemed somewhat unwell and went to the pharmacy to get some medicine for clearing summer heat and generating saliva.”

Upon hearing Fei Cui’s words, Ma Family silently calculated the time.

They had just left Shanyin County, more than two months ago.

It was the end of summer back then, the weather unbearably hot.

Moreover, without Ma Zhong’s thorough service, Gu Jingyuan and He Dian merely bought an old carriage, facing harsh winds and dews, sun and rain along the journey, which indeed could be unbearable.

But this was not a valid reason for the fetus in Lady He’s belly to disappear out of thin air.

There must be something else—

Under the urging look in Ma Family’s eyes, Fei Cui continued, ”Oh right, Ma Zhong also said, He Dian took the medicine in the afternoon, and by nighttime, something seemed to occur, Third Young Master woke up in the middle of the night and had the innkeeper prepare some hot ginger soup!”

Ginger soup?

It’s not for a cold, so why drink ginger soup?!

Wait a minute!

Ma Family was no stranger to the channel of historical tales, and she herself was a woman.

Therefore, she knew that in ancient times, some women would drink hot ginger soup when they experienced menstrual cramps.

Could it be—

”He Dian was unwell, mistakenly believing she suffered from heatstroke or motion sickness, thus asked a doctor for some soup medicine to generate saliva and dispel the summer heat!”

”In order to generate saliva, hawthorn was the preferred choice. However, hawthorn is cool in nature and activates blood circulation, consuming too much can easily lead to a miscarriage!”

”At that time, her pregnancy was still shallow, and the medical skills of doctors in small places may not be thorough enough, so they did not diagnose it!”

Ma Family’s brain whirred rapidly.

Soon, she linked all of this together and got a seemingly reasonable guess—

”So, He Dian didn’t have her menstrual period at all, but had a miscarriage, and she herself didn’t even know!”

Having seen the world, Ma Family knew not all miscarriages would be ”dramatic.”

Not to mention in ancient times, even in modern days, some women had miscarriages without realizing it, thinking it was just their menstrual period!

”...” Upon reaching this guess, Ma Family suddenly didn’t know how to react.

Happy?

Haha, of course happy, He Dian, that scheming woman, dreamed of marrying into a high-status family by leveraging her child.

But as a result, her biggest leverage was gone, and even with the title of a lifesaver, the Marchioness would certainly not let her through the door.

This didn’t even require Ma Family to take action herself, someone would help her block everything.

Disappointed?!

There certainly was!

He Dian’s miscarriage meant Ma Family couldn’t expose her true colors publicly.

Her previous preparations, plans, seemed all in vain.

The key was that the plot was changed, and Ma Family faintly felt a sense of ”losing control.”

What if the butterfly effect was too great and things became more complicated, how could she complete her task then?

Moreover, without this opportunity, where else could Ma Family find a justified chance to divorce the scumbag?!

Should she wait for the plot to develop, for He Dian to transform into a Golden Phoenix and once again push Ma Family to voluntarily leave?

No way!

Absolutely not allowed!

Ma Family tightly clenched her handkerchief. Just thinking about the suffocating and frustrating plot in the original script, a fierce rage surged within her.

Oh no!

The remnant emotions of the original owner began to stir again!

Ma Family took a deep breath and repeatedly told the shadow deep within her sea of consciousness, ”Don’t worry, I’ll help you! I will definitely help you!”

After a while of soothing, Ma Family finally regained her composure.

She suddenly opened her eyes, which were full of a burning brightness, ”This time I must strike first to gain the upper hand!”

”If He Dian wants to become a phoenix towering on the branches, she’d better see whether I agree or not!”

”...I must clip her wings and see how she can still be arrogant!”
