The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

”Miss He, these are clothes and jewelry our Third Young Madam prepared for you. Please have a look!”

He Tiantian was settled in the East Cross Court, and she continued to put on a show of being reserved.

She clearly very much wanted to walk around the little courtyard and take a look at her ”new turf,” but she was afraid of being laughed at.

But that eager-to-try look of hers couldn’t fool anyone.

Even the little maid that the Ma Family had assigned to her, a third-class servant in the Marquis Mansion, somewhat looked down on her.

The little maid came in carrying a tray, on which lay a set of new clothes and a few delicate gold and silver trinkets.

The new clothes were in Xiangfei color with embroidered branching flowers, soft and pink, very suitable for a teenage girl of the inner chambers.

The gold and silver pieces were mostly plum-blossom or orchid-head hairpins, dainty earrings, and filigree bangles.

In a Noble household, they were nothing special, at most everyday gifts for little girls.

But for ”He Dian,” who had walked out of a mountain village and had seen little of the worldly experience, they were rare treasures.

So He Tiantian, maintaining the original host’s persona, saw the new clothes and new jewelry and her eyes instantly lit up.

But very quickly, she thought herself clever and hid it away again.

She even imitated the Ma Family’s manner, nodding reservedly. ”Mm, I understand. Help me thank the Third Young Madam!”

Little maid: ...What a piece of work, she even dares imitate our Third Young Madam?

A cheap imitation of beauty!

Copying without understanding!

Truly a mountain village girl who can’t get on the stage!

”...Miss He, there’s no need to be so polite! If you have no other instructions, this slave will take her leave!”

The little maid was still young, and just a third-class little maid; she had yet to learn how to perfectly conceal her emotions.

The disdain and scorn in her eyes were practically overflowing!

”You may go!”

He Tiantian continued to imitate the Ma Family’s style, lowering her head slightly to signal the little maid to withdraw!

Little maid: ...

Really an eyesore, hmph!

Pouting, the little maid left the room in a huff.

She was definitely going to tell her little companions all about this so-called Miss He, who was indeed full of petty, small-family airs.

She was just a bit lucky to have actually saved their Marquis Mansion’s Third Young Master.

Otherwise, with her status, she wouldn’t even get to step through the main gate of the Marquis Mansion in this lifetime!

He Tiantian watched the little maid leave, then got up and closed the door.

”Student Xiao D, the Ma Family is—”

The words ”doing what” had just surged to her lips when He Tiantian forcibly swallowed them back down.

Right, she’d forgotten again!

To avoid Student Xiao D’s existence causing an energy fluctuation and thereby attracting the attention of the Wild Writer, back when she had just entered the novel world, He Tiantian had already put Student Xiao D under Blocking.

But she really had gotten used to having a silly, cute Little Fur Ball chattering by her ear. With Student Xiao D suddenly ”disappearing,” she was indeed a bit unaccustomed.

He Tiantian walked around the room once, inspecting her surroundings while calming her mood.

This was just a very ordinary guest room.

The Ma Family’s arrangement could not be called especially meticulous, but there was nothing discourteous about it either.

This was very much like the Ma Family’s current attitude toward ”He Dian”; without evidence, she regarded He Dian as an uninvited guest.

He Tiantian: ...What a pity, this guest here doesn’t actually want to stay in the Marquis Mansion.

If not for there still being a major plot point that she had to take into account, He Tiantian would have already directly asked the Marchioness for a generous thank-you gift and then left the Marquis Mansion altogether.

Thinking of that major plot point, He Tiantian once again began silently sorting through the relationships within the Marquis Mansion—

Marquis Nanning’s Mansion was a Military Merit household. Although they weren’t founding heroes, their ancestors had also risen through military achievements.

The current Marquis Nanning’s Mansion had once led troops himself, but later, after being wounded, he had no choice but to return to the Capital City to recuperate.

Marquis Nanning and the Marchioness had three sons and one daughter in total:

The Eldest son, Gu Jingting, was not only the perfect heir to the title, he was, like the Marquis, extremely skilled at leading troops into battle.

In his youth, he had already followed Marquis Nanning onto the battlefield.

After Marquis Nanning was gravely injured and could no longer lead troops, Gu Jingting replaced his father and became Marquis Nanning’s Mansion’s representative in the military.

At sixteen, Gu Jingting married Lady Tang, the legitimate eldest daughter of Marquis Pingxi’s Mansion, a match equal in status.

Legitimate eldest son marrying legitimate eldest daughter, Lady Tang entered the household and immediately helped the Marchioness manage the Finance.

The young couple’s days could not be called overly sweet, but they respected and loved each other, in perfect harmony.

Marquis Nanning and his wife were very satisfied with their Eldest son and eldest daughter-in-law, and had long submitted a memorial requesting that Gu Jingting be granted the title of Princely Heir, just waiting for the Emperor’s approval.

The second son, Gu Jingcheng, perhaps due to a genetic breakthrough, actually did not inherit the martial spirit of his father and grandfather; from a young age he loved reading books and even had notable talent.
