The Misfortune Adventure Of Dimensional Chat Group Owner

After taking the ability test at Academy City, Kaito decided to return to their apartment to hide and rest until they got called again to the laboratory and testing site. Physically, Kaito wasn’t tired at all (compared to his days working as a ’slave’ for Aika in Naruto and Black Bullet). Still, mentally, he was completely exhausted because of all the attention he got after demonstrating his extraordinary abilities.

Many scientific research labs also contacted him to cooperate, but Kaito refused all of them, saying he was only willing to work with Aleister himself. With attention and popularity, Kaito also gained a large number of fans instantly; among them were many Tokiwadai Middle School students, which made him uncomfortable.

...

”What a day...” Kaito sighed in a depressed tone, ”But at least it’s temporarily over... for now.”

It’s only been a day since Kaito and his group arrived in this world, yet so many things already happened... it made him feel exhausted already.

”But Kaito-san, you were so amazing. Now you have become famous all over the city!” (Ravel)

”Master, cheer up.” (Est)

”Good work, master.” (Sakuya)

”Thanks, everyone.” Kaito smiled at everyone’s compliment and then replied to Sakuya, ”Also, thanks for preparing a great lunch.”

”It’s my duty as your maid, anyway.” Sakuya just shrugged and smiled back at him. ”By the way, Master, how is the harvest?” Sakuya asked while putting another side dish on the dining table.

”It’s not bad,” Kaito answered calmly and then turned to Ravel, ”I am sorry, Ravel-sama, but I guess I will be a bit busy for a few days with those scientists.”

...

Although Kaito disliked getting treated like an experiment by those scientists, he couldn’t deny the benefit of the knowledge provided to him, which increased the effectiveness of his creation ability. For example, with their assistance, Kaito learned that he can use creation much more easily if he assists with an image directly or any method that enhances his memory.

However, because of the testing, he does feel bad for Ravel that she needs to continue waiting for him for their main date.

In fact, Kaito could just create a clone to attend the testing, but doing so would expose more of his ability, and it wouldn’t be a great idea to do so. He really didn’t want to attract more unnecessary attention, as it would put everyone in a more dangerous situation.

Kaito does not doubt that Aleister definitely wanted to test his creation ability even further, and the dark side of Academy City probably already had an eye on him, as information traveled fast here.

...

”It’s okay, I understand.”

Fortunately, Ravel has always understood Kaito’s effort the most and even admires him a lot for that. Ravel just nodded with a smile on her face, asked curiously, ”But... Can you tell us what you learn, Kaito-san? Everyone in the chat group is also curious!”

”I got a lot of book theory for space-based equipment.” Kaito explained, ”I was willing to cooperate with them as long as they provided me with some knowledge that could greatly enhance my ability.”

”I can’t wait to try what I got later,” Kaito said with an excited tone.

So far, the props he created using his ability were created using knowledge from the system or from his own understanding, but there’s basically a limit for that. Fortunately, there’s also Lala, who can help him, too, but even then, it’s usually Kaito learning how Lala’s tools work on his own instead of her teaching him.

”I am glad you are enjoying it, Master.” Sakuya nods with a smile and then teases, ”But this means you are working again, even though you were supposed to be on vacation.”

”...Crap, you are right, Sakuya!”

”Pffft!” (Ravel)

”At this point, I believe you have workaholic tendencies, master.” (Sakuya)

”Master, cheer up.” (Est)

Kaito can only muster a wry smile and commented, ”At least it’s only 3 days... and I hope no one is stupid enough to try to target me.”

”You were just setting a flag, master.” Sakuya retorted.

”Eh, I did it on purpose.” Kaito shrugged, ”Knowing this city and my bad luck, they’re probably already interested in me anyway.”

...

After finishing his lunch with everyone, Kaito decided to take a nap to recover from his mental fatigue, while the rest of the group (women) left him and hung out together to shop for the rest of the day. Kaito has a gut feeling he may need to rest as much as he can, since he feels that trouble will come to him soon or later.

Kaito wasn’t wrong at all about it. The dark side is very interested in Kaito’s ’omnipotent creation’ abilities, and many people with bad intentions already want to capture him within a few hours after receiving the information about his ability. On top of that, because Kaito hasn’t really shown any spectacular combat capability, most people assume he’s actually quite weak by himself, and soon they’re going to attempt to attack him.

Aleister naturally knows what’s happening, but he lets it be since Aleister himself is also curious what Kaito is capable of in combat (need more data)

One of the dark side groups that immediately interested him was ITEM, which was led by Mugino Shizuri, one of the level 5 Esper in the Academy City, with the nickname of MELTDOWNER. It’s the same organization that would face Misaka Mikoto later in the original, but thanks to Kaito’s group’s intervention, their conflict wouldn’t ever happen.

Mugino Shizuri, the leader of ITEM, is a tall woman with soft, tea hair wearing a short, short-sleeved coat and yellow stockings received a mission from their liaison about Kaito with a reward that was too great for them to ignore. As all of them currently ran out of cash, Mugino Shizuri really wanted to do this ’delicious’ mission despite the unknown risk. So, she quickly called everyone, and they quickly gathered in a private Karaoke box (as they were too poor, and their bad reputation prevented them from using a hotel).

”From our liaison contact, some of the Board of Directors have given us a new mission to capture the new number 1 Esper, Creator, Kaito.”

Mugino said seriously while reading the file about the mission, ”The reward is 200 million yen, and even if we fail, we can try to recover his DNA sample for a reward of 20 million yen.”

”A fight against the new number 1... Isn’t it a bit super dangerous?” Kinuhata Saia, a young girl with short brown hair in a bob cut, commented while being wary.

”I agree.”

Another member of ITEM, Takitsubo Rikou, a high school girl with black curly cut evenly at the shoulder and wearing a pink tracksuit suit, also gave her opinion out with a flat monotone, ”I don’t think the Academy City granted him title number 1 above that monster Accelerator without any reason.”

”That’s true. Hence, that’sthe  main reason why I gathered you all here.” Mugino explained, ”Should we take it or not?”

”But...!! The pay is a bit too much to ignore!”

Frenda Seivelun, a girl with blonde hair and blue eyes, also a member of ITEM, replied with a hint of excitement, ”How many cosmetics could we buy with that much money? ”

”And if we really manage to capture him, we can ask him to create a ton of money for us!” Frenda suggested, ”The guy ability is creation after all!”

”That would be the best result.” Mugino nods with Frenda’s idea, but being the leader of the Darkside organization, she can tell it might be a trap for them. ”However, even if we fail the main mission, we should be able to complete the second mission easily... taking a hair from him shouldn’t be that difficult.”

”Maybe.” Rikou nods in agreement, ”He’s not the Accelerator after all. The report says that people can touch him just fine.”

”Then, I am super ready!” Saia also quickly agreed, being excited as she usually is, ”We can only need to get physical with him!”

”No, Saia, that sounds really weird.” Rikou retorted.

”It’s not weird! I really want to punch him!” Saia exclaimed, ”His smirk face also looks punchable!”

”What kind of grudge do you got to that guy?” Frenda also retorted, ”But Mugino, I need to remind you there’s not much information about the guy.”

Frenda, frowning upon looking at the files she got, made a complaint, ”Besides a biodata and history, there’s no information about his personality... Which doesn’t help in our mission.”

For Frenda, who is the most cunning and strategic member of ITEM, she really doesn’t want to do a mission with a lack of information about their target. Since Kaito just showed up yesterday, there’s naturally a lack of information except for the thing that the chat group system forged to his identity.

”Then, you should gather his information for us, Frenda.” Mugino ordered her seriously, ”You can do it, right?”

”Eh, me?” Mugino nodded and smirked, ”Since you are the one who proposed the idea, then you will do it.”

”Indeed. Frenda-chan is also a social butterfly; it should be easy for her to get close to the target.” Rikou added.

”Ah... That sounds troublesome... But in the end, it was me who suggested it.”

”Don’t worry, I promise that if you do it, you will get a slightly bigger share of the reward.” Mugino compromised with her, ”No matter what, I think we at least finish the second mission.”

”Well, but it’s dangerous...”Frenda pouted a bit before resigning to her fate, ”Ugh... Alright, I will do my best.”

”Don’t worry, you can pretend to be his new fans.” Rikou suggested calmly, ”With your pretty appearance, he might be interested in you.”

”Oh, not a bad idea!”

Hearing her suggestion, Frenda’s eyes immediately lit up, really considering the possibility, ”If he really can make money out of thin air, then becoming his girlfriend isn’t a bad idea at all!”

”That’s only if he got interested in you.” Mugino sneered, ”If you manage to control him, I will personally kiss your feet!”

”Hmmp! I will do my best then!”

...

For Frenda, a level 0 who was forced to join the dark side of Academy City due to money, she admits that Kaito’s ability is something she really envies. She also thought that Kaito was quite handsome (having the same blonde hair), and from the profile, he also looks humble despite his ability.

If Kaito was also quite strong, then she wouldn’t mind changing sides-- as long as Kaito was proven to be a better boss than Mugino and willing to protect her and her sister. Frenda knows there’s no way she would do this forever; she also wanted to be free instead of living in the danger of Academy City.

Fortunately for her, Kaito, who has read the script, naturally knows her circumstances and is later willing to give her a hand (to prevent her from getting killed later on and help her escape from darkside). It also happens that her appearance is Kaito’s preference, something that no one except the chat group member knows about yet.

As ITEM accepted the mission from the board of Directors, another dark side group led by another level 5 Esper, SCHOOL, also received the mission, but for a different main reason. Unlike ITEM, which didn’t have a fixed base, SCHOOL got its own luxurious private hotel room as its main base, located on a high floor. They also have 4 main operatives like ITEM, but the difference is that their reputation is also much better than ITEM’s in the dark side of Academy City.

Kakine Teitoku, the former rank 2 level 5 Esper in the academy city with the nickname of Dark Matter, just wanted to do this mission immediately out of personal beef. The main reason is that this blond man with shoulder-length hair wearing a dark maroon colored suit is really curious and envious of Kaito himself.

Unlike Kakine, who can only create dark matter (a matter that doesn’t exist until it is created by him), Kaito’s ability seems to be a straight-up better upgrade of his ability, and he got really jealous of him. Kakine really can’t form any complex matter (props, material, weaponry) and can only use it in simplified form to attack or defend, which he got even from another dimension.

What makes him more jealous is that Kaito is cooperating under Aleister directly, which is his literal goal upon joining the dark side in the first place.

...

”We will do the new mission about the new rank 1,” Kakine seriously said to his member and added while clenching his fist, ”I really can’t wait to meet this new number 1 who dares to surpass my rank!”

”I think you need to calm down, Kakine. ”

*BANG*

”Heh! I just can’t help it!” Kakine hit the wall with  hidden anger and ordered, ”We will do it, right away at night!”

...?!?!

”I mean, I believe you know there’s no way Aleister is putting him above Accelerator without reason whatsoever.” Gokusai Kaibi, the girl that often treated as the vice leader of SCHOOL, quickly argued. She’s a beautiful girl with light bleached wavy hair, wearing a jewelry necklace and a luxurious dress.

*BANG*

”I know! But I just can’t accept it!” Kakine, hitting the wall once again in anger, yelled out, ”Why was the new number 1 working under Aleister directly? I want to know what’s special about the new guy!”

”B-But... we don’t have enough i-information.” Yumiya Rakko also commented. She’s the SCHOOL sniper with long black hair, with 2 pig tails, wearing a Tokiwadai school uniform. She’s also the one member of SCHOOL who ended up getting killed by Frenda in the original.

”Yeah. I mean, I agree to take the mission, but we don’t need to get in a hurry.” Youbou Banka followed, also against Kakine’s idea to go directly.

He is also the main member of SCHOOL with black spiky hair and metallic goggles on his head like Saturn rings, which are connected to a machine on his back. He has the ability of level 4 psychokinesis and, combined with technology, he can extract, analyse, and rewrite information, which means his role in the team is mainly to gather data about the mission.

...

”Tch. I understand!” Kakine finally gives in to his members, realizing the lack of information is too critical to ignore, and asks in a deep voice, ”How long do we need to wait?”

”A few days-- at least we wait until we gather enough information about him.” Youbou Banka answered, ”I believe other dark side groups also take an interest in this mission.”

”We can gather information from their attempt. I don’t believe that level 5 is that easy to capture.”

”Hmmph! Let’s just hope you are right.” Kakine sharpened his eyes, ”Because I personally wanted to capture him with my own hand!”

With his power and Kaito’s lack of a record of combat, Kakine couldn’t help but be overconfident that he would easily beat the new number 1. The only reason he listened to his subordinate is because he was also interested in more information related to Kaito, who could achieve his goal work with Aleister directly.

”I am going out; you guys can do whatever you want!”

After that, Kakine left the meeting room, leaving 3 other SCHOOL members talking with each other.

”Scary... why is our leader so angry tonight...” Rakko literally trembled and fall in sofa, terrified of Kakine’s anger.

”Calm, damn, Rakko-chan.” Kaibi quickly tried to calm down her fellow members, ”He isn’t mad at us; it’s just our leader angrier than usual.”

”It can’t be helped. Our leader cares too much about his rank.” Youbou just shrugged and pulled out a laptop from his bag, ”Anyway, let’s start talking about how to gather the information about the new number 1. This is a big mission, and we need to be serious.”

””Sure.”” (Kaibi/Rakko)

...

With the mission issued directly by a board of directors, literally almost all dark side organizations wanted to join in and start gathering information about Kaito. And just like that, Kaito was getting into more trouble, as he managed to become the most wanted Esper in the Academy City within 2 days of joining.
