Chapter 496: Chapter 68: On the Brink of Death

When battling the Dark King, Su Xiao was unusually cautious, maintaining a buffer distance of 3 to 6 meters at all times.

The Dark King was like an indestructible, unbreakable iron man, with terrifying power and speed. If the Dark King went at full speed, Su Xiao could barely dodge.

Fortunately, Su Xiao didn’t rely on brute force in combat. He sidestepped to the side in front of the Dark King, who was helplessly forced to follow Su Xiao’s movement with his vision.

Su Xiao feigned another forward rush, and the Dark King’s two pitch-black large hands shaped into claws, constantly waiting for him to approach.

Su Xiao withdrew the Black Gun with one hand from the side of his thigh and fired several shots at the Dark King’s eyes.

Clang clang clang.

Sparks flew as the Dark King’s hand blocked in front of his left eye, causing the bullets to create sparks on his palm.

Su Xiao emptied the magazine of the Black Gun, then put it away, realizing such attacks were of little significance.

He only had more than forty minutes, and with the Dark King’s strength gradually awakening, he couldn’t afford to delay.

Lightly stepping on the ground, Su Xiao dashed forward with a long knife in front of him.

Upon discovering Su Xiao’s charge, the Dark King also rushed towards Su Xiao. Due to having only one-sided vision, without Su Xiao attacking first, he dared not strike aggressively.

The Dark King had lived for thousands of years, participating in countless battles. If not for his body being somewhat sluggish after just awakening, he would not have been blinded in one eye right at the outset.

In a swift charge forward, Su Xiao’s speed suddenly increased, directly entering the Dark King’s blind spot.

With a forward slash of his long knife, the Dark King, helpless, could only block with his arm.

With a swish, a blood mark appeared on the Dark King’s arm, and Blue Steel Shadow energy seeped in. The severe pain caused the Dark King’s body to pause for a moment.

Su Xiao, who planned to retreat, halted as his right arm muscles visibly bulged.

”Inch Break.”

Su Xiao executed a series of rapid slashes, leaving cold gleams in the air.

Splurt, splurt...

Blood splattered as slashes appeared on the Dark King’s chest and arms. Although these slashes were not deep, they infused large amounts of Blue Steel Shadow energy.

The Dark King’s single eye filled with bloodlines as he endured unimaginable pain while stomping on the ground, letting out an earth-shattering roar.

”Roar!”

A sound wave spread out, causing Su Xiao’s ears to buzz. This was the Dark King’s skill.

Skill 3: Roar (Active), the Dark King emits a sound wave that shocks the enemy’s brain, causing 300 damage and 2 seconds of dizziness.

While Su Xiao awaited the dizziness check, the anticipated effect didn’t occur, and he found that the Dark King’s roar wasn’t as powerful, falling short of causing 300 damage.

According to Su Xiao’s experience, the 300 damage level would be equivalent to roughly three stabs to his abdomen.

The Dark King let out a roar, displaying a brutal grin as he stomped on the ground, rushing toward Su Xiao with dirt flying.

Su Xiao stood motionless as if already in a stunned state.

The Dark King’s large hand reached for Su Xiao’s face. If it grasped his head, Su Xiao would be doomed, possibly having his head twisted off by the Dark King.

The palm obstructed Su Xiao’s vision, plunging his view into darkness.

Just then, the Dark King sensed something amiss. In its right side blind spot, a rapid sound of air tearing approached.

A glint appeared in the Dark King’s sight — a knife tip, making the Dark King’s spine tingle.

Although the Dark King resembled a Demon God, it was still a creature with high-level intelligence, capable of experiencing fear.

Splurt.

The Dragon Slash blade tip pierced into the Dark King’s left eye, rendering his vision completely dark.

Before the Dark King went entirely blind, its large hand gripped Su Xiao’s shoulder tightly, its fingertips penetrating Su Xiao’s flesh.

With the world plunged into darkness, the Dark King knew it was doomed. Even if not killed by this human, other creatures in the Black Forest would end its life. It ruled over the undead race of the Black Forest, a point many other strong beings coveted.

”Human, let’s die together.”

The Dark King tightened its grasp, crushing Su Xiao’s left shoulder with a crunching sound.

It judged Su Xiao’s position based on the crushed shoulder, grasping his shoulder with the right hand while reaching for his head with the left.

With the shoulder blade shattered and the left side of his body numb, Su Xiao broke out in a cold sweat from the pain.

Seeing the incoming large hand, Su Xiao’s eye twitched with intensity, as a capture might lead the Dark King to bite him.

Blue Steel Shadow energy surged within his body, transforming Dragon Slash into a brilliant electric blade. The Blue Steel Shadow energy vibrated rapidly on the blade’s surface, consuming over a thousand mana points.

As the Dark King’s left arm approached, Su Xiao took a deep breath, and everything around seemed to slow, including the Dark King’s motion and the surrounding airflow.

’Cut what you want to cut, don’t cut what you don’t want to cut.’

A flash of the blade, mountains of blood sprayed, and a massive arm flew off.

Thump, the arm landed on the ground, fingers twitching twice.

The Dark King’s mouth opened slightly. Though it couldn’t see what happened, it felt its arm had been severed.

With one stroke cutting off the Dark King’s left arm, Su Xiao looked at its right arm, which was still gripping his shoulder tightly.

Due to the height difference, Su Xiao had been lifted by the Dark King, his feet leaving the ground. If only he could sever this arm, he’d regain his freedom.

The Dark King’s expression turned fierce as it ignored Su Xiao’s slashes, using all its strength to swing him around and slam him viciously to the ground.

Boom!

Cracks spread across the ground. Su Xiao was swung in the air by the Dark King, with his back making contact with the ground first.

Blood gushed from his mouth as Su Xiao’s brain buzzed, the world in front of him turning black.

Without even catching a breath, Su Xiao again felt the world spinning.

Boom!

Again, Su Xiao was swung up and slammed hard onto the ground.

Although Su Xiao’s power attribute was close to the Dark King’s, the difference in size and weight was too vast. With his shoulder seized, Su Xiao had no chance of escape.

Being swung for the third time, the Dark King didn’t slam him to the ground but aimed to smash Su Xiao against its bent knee.

Crack.

A side rib on Su Xiao’s back collapsed, breaking into a V-shape and piercing into his organs.

With darkness engulfing his vision and his body numb and powerless, Su Xiao knew he was in serious trouble, facing possible death here today.

Fortunately, with his high physical attributes and the Spirit Shadow Physique enhancement, even though he didn’t look particularly tough, his survival ability was formidable.

The Dark King swung Su Xiao for the fourth time, aiming for the ground again.

The Dark King’s mana had been completely annihilated by Blue Steel Shadow energy, which was why there was no dizziness when using the ”Roar” skill, but it didn’t mean the Dark King couldn’t use any skills.

After Su Xiao’s body sank into the ground, a purple glow flickered in the Dark King’s chest, and a wave spread out.

The Dark King remained still, pinning Su Xiao to the ground with one hand, seeming to be brewing something.

The darkness clearing from Su Xiao’s view, his mind still buzzed, the bones in his body felt disassembled, and there wasn’t a part that didn’t ache.

Severely injured and unable to move his body, he was already in a desperate situation.

Yet, a smile appeared on Su Xiao’s face. Apart from the battle with the High President, Jin Bula De Lei, it had been a long time since he faced such a crisis.

Woo~

A whistling sound descended from high above, as a black meteorite measuring 3×3 meters plummeted from the sky, trailing a long tail of flames.
