Chapter 489: Chapter 61: Little Confused

”Since we’re going to act together, should we elect a leader?”

Old Bar put away the map. Understandably, he carried this map, as he knew the Black Forest best. Everyone had memorized the map, so who carried it didn’t matter.

”Agreed.”

”Seconded.”

Su Xiao looked at the group and suddenly remembered a scene from the ghoul world, with Arima, Takatsuki Sen, the Priest, and Kirishima Arata.

Compared to those four, Old Bar and his group were stronger, yet the current team was far less complicated than before, where each of the five had their own agenda, full of hidden motives.

Su Xiao roughly understood the goals of the current trio, with Little Confused being the one to watch most closely.

That’s right, Little Confused, although she hadn’t shown anything abnormal, she still needed observation. This was just Su Xiao being cautious.

Old Bar had always been on Su Xiao’s watch list. A bomb inside him was no lie, but blind confidence never ended well.

As for Umbrella Brother, he was hard to pin down, he was oddly unlucky and his survival ability was extremely strong.

”I suggest Bai Ye as the leader.”

Little Confused smiled, her eyes like two small crescents.

”I nominate myself.”

Umbrella Brother puffed his chest and lifted his head, full of confidence.

”Little Confused,”

”Little Confused.”

Su Xiao and Old Bar spoke almost simultaneously, exchanging glances.

”Huh? I’m the leader now?”

Little Confused wrinkled her nose, sensing a hint of conspiracy.

”That’s right, you’re the leader. Let’s get ready to head out.”

Su Xiao stood up, and Little Confused rose as well, seemingly unconcerned with Su Xiao’s command.

Bubu Wang glanced at Little Confused, letting out a long sigh. Such a cute girl dying was a pity.

Umbrella Brother also looked at Little Confused. He had anticipated the current situation, which was why he nominated himself. After all, having traveled together from the Red Soil Area, some companionship was unavoidable.

”A pack of ’wolves’, take care, Little Confused.”

Umbrella Brother shook his head, suddenly feeling that Little Confused was like a little sheep among the wolves. Right now, the ’two wolves’ weren’t hungry, but when they got hungry...

Umbrella Brother decided to become a hedgehog.

Approaching the armored vehicle, Little Confused’s eyes lit up.

”Let me drive, don’t worry, I’m used to racing with my family’s sports car.”

This sentence hinted at Little Confused’s comfortable family background in the real world.

”As you wish.”

Su Xiao, tired from driving all the way, didn’t mind.

They got into the car, and Little Confused muttered from the driver’s seat.

”Left foot clutch, right foot gas, brake in the middle...”

”What did you say?”

Not only Umbrella Brother but the others also didn’t catch what Little Confused was saying.

”Nothing, just sit tight.”

Little Confused started the engine, engaging the gear while stepping on the clutch and releasing it while accelerating.

”Vroom~.”

The armored vehicle accelerated forward a short distance before coming to an abrupt stop, causing everyone to sway back and forth.

”Can you really drive?”

Su Xiao stared at Little Confused, who beamed, ”Yes.”

”What car did you drive before?”

Noticing Su Xiao’s concerning gaze, Little Confused began to stutter.

”A... go-kart, does that count?”

”Get out!”

”Give me one more chance, the road here is flat.”

Little Confused fiddled with the controls, making the armored vehicle lurch a few times before it started moving.

”Hahaha, this is thrilling.”

Little Confused gripped the steering wheel tightly, her expression filled with excitement.

”Stop, let me drive!”

Umbrella Brother clutched the handle on the roof of the car, his face turning pale.

”This road doesn’t lead to the Black Forest, turn around.”

Little Confused turned the steering wheel sharply, almost causing the vehicle to drift like a hearse.

...

Two minutes later, Little Confused sat in the back seat, looking innocent, while Umbrella Brother sat in the driver’s seat.

”Let me explain, I really have driven before.”

”Shut up.”

Su Xiao, who was resting nearby, spoke up.

”Oh~.”

Little Confused lowered her head, tracing circles with her pale index finger, seemingly casting a curse circle on Su Xiao. Earlier, Su Xiao had practically lifted her from the driver’s seat, nearly scaring her to death.

The armored vehicle cruised smoothly along the road, Su Xiao sat in the second row, with Bubu Wang next to him, snoozing peacefully.

”Bai Ye.”

Little Confused spoke, and Su Xiao turned his head towards the back where she was.

”In battle, what attributes do you need? Strength, agility, stamina, intelligence, you can choose two, but you’ll probably choose strength and agility, or strength and stamina, right?”

Su Xiao raised an eyebrow, it seemed Little Confused was not just an airhead. The ability to amplify all four attributes suggested that Little Confused’s skills were not weak.

”Strength and agility work, agility and stamina too, strength and intelligence are also fine.”

Su Xiao developed in four attributes, so boosting any two attributes was suitable.

”Aren’t you a close combat type? Why intelligence?”

”To increase mana value.”

”Huh?”

Little Confused was surprised but didn’t probe further.

Although Su Xiao had 1363 mana value, his abilities consumed a lot of it. Activating Blue Steel Shadow required over a thousand mana.

Furthermore, some skills attached to equipment also required mana.

The shield from [Mikasa’s Mind] cost 10% mana each time activated.

The control skill removal from [Mithril Holy Ring] needed 100 mana.

The use of [Eye of Havana] consumed 30 mana each time.

[Spider Queen] required 100 mana to open the scope.

Finally, continuously firing the Black and White Guns also consumed considerable mana.

So, even with 1363 mana, Su Xiao couldn’t afford to be lavish in battles.

”Got it. Do you reject shield skills?”

Little Confused wasn’t probing for Su Xiao’s information; the questions were reasonable.

”Yes, don’t shield me.”

”What about acceleration aura?”

”No rejection.”

Hearing that Little Confused had aura-based skills, Su Xiao nodded inwardly. Though Little Confused might not have strong healing, her buffs were not to be underestimated.

”Then...”

Little Confused continued to ask a few more questions. After getting answers, she took out a small notebook.

”Attribute compatibility, speed compatibility, defense rejection, hmm, I’ve got a plan now.”

While Little Confused was thinking about how to support Su Xiao, a sudden clanging sound came from one side of the armored vehicle, sparks flew. Umbrella Brother and Little Confused ducked down, while Su Xiao and Bubu Wang remained calm.

”Stop the car.”

Umbrella Brother hesitated, then slammed on the brakes.

Su Xiao opened the car door and leapt out. His movements were swift, but Little Confused was not slow either.

”Holy.”

”Echo of the Rain.”

”Power Spring.”

”Eternal life.”

”Rapid.”

...

Little Confused hadn’t finished applying her buffs when Su Xiao already drew the Black and White Guns, spraying bullets at a distant rock as he charged forward.

Bang bang bang...

Stone chips flew, and the Contractors behind the rock couldn’t lift their heads under the sudden onslaught.

Click click.

The Black and White Guns ran out of bullets, so Su Xiao holstered the guns at his thighs and drew Dragon Slash with one hand.

A pale blue blade aura sliced through the air, breaking the rock cleanly, slitting one Contractor’s throat wide open, blood gushing.

Su Xiao rushed behind the rock with his blade, screams echoed, and blood splattered profusely.

A minute later, Su Xiao walked out from behind the rock, the long knife in his hand still dripping blood.
