Chapter 462: Chapter 34: Put Away Your Bold Ideas

Two young Bahamuts huddled in a cleft in the rock, pressing against each other and occasionally letting out threatening growls.

Su Xiao, who was about to leave, stopped in his tracks and looked into the cleft.

The two young Bahamuts completely blocked the cleft, and Su Xiao pulled them out one by one.

Suddenly pulled out of the cleft, the two young Bahamuts instinctively turned to bite Su Xiao.

...

A minute later, the two bruised young Bahamuts snuggled together, with one of them twitching in grievance.

Ignoring the two young Bahamuts, Su Xiao quickly walked to the cleft, with a fragrant aroma wafting into his nostrils.

Upon closer inspection, there was a smooth stone tablet in the cleft, which seemed often licked, making its surface smooth, and even the young Bahamuts’ saliva could still be seen.

The fragrance emanated from this stone tablet, but whatever emitted the fragrance had already been licked by the two young Bahamuts.

After looking around, it was just an ordinary cleft with nothing special about it.

”Drip.”

A drop of golden liquid fell on the stone tablet, emitting a rich fragrance once more.

Smelling this fragrance, Su Xiao felt a sensation of easier breathing and was much more exhilarated.

Not far away, the two young Bahamuts paced anxiously as if about to have some treasure stolen.

Su Xiao looked up to see a red vine, thick as a finger, growing out of the rock, with a fruit the size of a fist hanging midway on the vine.

The fruit was oval-shaped and entirely golden, with a crevice below from which the previously dripping golden liquid had emerged.

Swallowing, Su Xiao had only one thought upon seeing the fruit: to eat it.

For now, no one could be sure when the two adult Bahamuts would return, so it couldn’t be eaten just yet.

Although he couldn’t eat it, Su Xiao could take it with him.

The Boundary Line shot out, and the golden fruit, already ripe, dropped upon a gentle touch.

Catching the golden fruit, Su Xiao found it to be soft to the touch, easily crushable with some force.

The fruit was not suitable to carry around as it could easily get squashed, so he took off his backpack, as the storage space couldn’t be used, making the backpack a necessary item.

Taking an iron box meant for storing Alchemy Secret Medicine from the backpack, Su Xiao placed the golden fruit inside and set the iron box at the top of his backpack.

Slinging the backpack over his shoulder, Su Xiao saw the two young Bahamuts blocking his way, seemingly asking for their treasure back.

With a swift kick each, Su Xiao dashed towards the cliff.

Amidst the wailing of the two young Bahamuts, Su Xiao leaped off the mountain peak.

Zi~, Ding!

The Boundary Line extended to its full length, leaving Su Xiao dangling hundreds of meters in the air.

Exerting force with his left arm, the hook lock at the Boundary Line’s tip popped open, allowing Su Xiao to continue falling. After descending a certain distance, he quickly drew Dragon Slash and stabbed it into the mountain.

With a crack, the stone layer pierced by Dragon Slash shattered under the powerful downward force, and Su Xiao continued to fall.

Due to the steepness of the mountain peak, Su Xiao could only descend using a combination of Dragon Slash and the Boundary Line.

Ten minutes later, Su Xiao leaped down from a mountain rock several meters above the ground.

Feet touching the ground, his knees bent, and his body naturally sank, leaving shallow dents in the gravel beneath him.

Finally, he was safe. Although not completely out of danger, he was largely out of that constant mortal peril.

The contractors who knew his identity were already silenced, along with the elimination of the Other Shore Flower Adventure Group, and he successfully escaped from Bahamut’s Nest.

From the intelligence Su Xiao had, there should be no enemies left in the survival trial, or at least he hoped so. After all, he had many enemies, with others seeking revenge on him instead of the other way around...

Having enemies is quite interesting, as it means he’s never lonely.

Given the current situation, Su Xiao only needed to complete the survival mission, but he wasn’t planning to just finish that. He wanted to explore the secrets of the Yasenman Tribe and the origins of the Primal Seed.

Su Xiao’s strength wasn’t without reason; he explored the world’s secrets while completing tasks, which, though dangerous, allowed him to grow rapidly.

He had a feeling that the Blood Vine Warriors of the Yasenman Tribe might be linked to the Primal Seed.

Old Bar had previously asked Su Xiao if he noticed any Soul Crystals and a type of Black Seed when killing his brother Barry and others; that seed might be the Primal Seed.

Therefore, Su Xiao needed to return to the Yasenman Tribe. Moreover, Bubute Ni was still nearby waiting.

Walking through the central zone of the Red Soil Area, Su Xiao looked composed and unconcerned about encountering wild beasts.

It’s no wonder, since apart from beings like Bahamut that were horrifyingly powerful, over 99% of the wild beasts in the central area were competing for the Primal Seed.

Su Xiao took out a roughly crafted compass; this wasn’t the one pointing to the cliff stone bridge but rather the Yasenman Tribe compass, provided for free by Old Bar.

After traveling in the central area for over an hour, Su Xiao indeed encountered no wild beasts, not even an insect.

Following the compass’s direction, Su Xiao began moving towards the Yasenman Tribe.

”Whoosh.”

The sound of flowing water reached him, with the surrounding air becoming humid and a refreshing scent rising from a mix of river water and soil.

A rushing river appeared, and Su Xiao scooped up a handful of water to observe it, a smile eventually spreading across his face.

He took out a straw as thick as a thumb, thin at one end and thick at the other, inserting the thick end into the water before starting to suck from the thin end.

After drinking more than ten mouthfuls, the parched feeling disappeared.

Su Xiao wouldn’t randomly drink river water, for that would be suicidal in the Red Soil Area. He dared to drink this river’s water because it was a relatively safe source of drinking water in the Red Soil Area.

Moreover, he didn’t drink the river water directly; the straw he used, known as the ’Outdoor Pure Water Straw,’ filtered the water through layers including hollow fiber membranes, activated carbon, and double-layer woven nets inside. This type of straw was widely circulated in water-scarce areas.

Having quenched his thirst, Su Xiao lay on the ground and let out a long breath, feeling alive again.

”Hahaha.”

Lying on the ground, Su Xiao laughed, because when he was caught by Bahamut inside the Savage Horned Beast, he was already prepared to die.

Lying there, he took out several alchemy bombs that were for Bahamut, now seemingly unnecessary.

After resting for a while, Su Xiao sat up. Since he wasn’t dead, he needed to continue completing the survival trial to become stronger. Only by growing stronger could he prevent this from happening again, as if he were strong enough, those two Bahamuts would have been his dinner.

Gazing at Bahamut’s Nest in the distance, Su Xiao had a bold thought: what rewards would there be for killing those two adult Bahamuts?

Putting away that bold thought, Su Xiao briskly walked in the direction of the Yasenman Tribe.

Though being carried by Bahamut hadn’t felt like flying for long, the truth was he was quite far from the Yasenman Tribe.

After traveling for a full thirteen hours, the sky was completely dark; it was the night of the third day, and tomorrow would be the fourth day of the survival trial.

Su Xiao found a wind-sheltered slope to rest on, having already left the central area.

[Remaining survival time: 171 hours, surviving contractors: 402 people.]
