Reincarnation Paradise Park

Chapter 465: Chapter 37: Insect Nest

Although the word ’contract’ from Karlo was vague, Su Xiao still captured it precisely.

He wasn’t surprised, or rather, he had long expected that Old Bar knew his identity.

When he first met Old Bar, Su Xiao had noticed something; the other party must have had contact with humans, and not just once.

This island is called Devouring Island, and there are no traces of human civilization on it, only red-skinned natives. Yet Old Bar understands human language, which must harbor some secrets.

Or it could be said, Devouring Island is fundamentally different from the Derivative World, which is completely controlled by Reincarnation Paradise and can reset the timeline.

Devouring Island is different. Reincarnation Paradise only has the right to interfere here, not too strong control power and can’t reset the timeline here.

Therefore, it’s highly possible that Old Bar has come into contact with many Contractors, after all, the Yasenman Tribe lives on Devouring Island; Contractors are merely visitors here.

Thinking of it this way, the existence of Devouring Island is somewhat terrifying; it has not changed much after the visits of batches of Contractors and still maintains its original order.

...

The atmosphere in the stone house was somewhat awkward, with Old Bar’s murky eyes glancing at Karlo.

Karlo, with a blank expression, grinned and didn’t explain anything.

”Cough~, where were we just now.”

Old Bar coughed lightly to ease the awkwardness.

”Into the insect nest.”

Su Xiao didn’t want to dwell on the issue of Contractors. It was already confirmed that Old Bar harbored ulterior motives, yet he also wasn’t out of goodwill, both were equally not good people.

However, from the conversation just now, Su Xiao discovered a piece of information. Karlo didn’t seem to be Old Bar’s subordinate. Their relationship was more like equals, or even Old Bar showed some care for Karlo.

”Yes, into the insect nest.”

The topic shifted. Old Bar took out a crude map, which was considered a national treasure in the Yasenman Tribe.

”Our main battlefield with the Insect Tribe is here.”

Old Bar pointed to a spot on the map, a large plain.

”This is where we are now.”

Old Bar pointed to the location of the Yasenman Tribe on the map.

”This is where the Insect Tribe is located.”

Old Bar pointed to a spot separated by three mountain ranges, a forest from the Yasenman Tribe.

”What are those black dots near the Insect Tribe?”

Su Xiao looked at an area around the Insect Tribe.

”This is the explosion zone.”

”Explosion zone?”

Su Xiao appeared somewhat surprised.

Old Bar lowered his eyelids, seemingly recalling some bad memories, and said in a deep voice, ”Yes, explosion zone. If you step wrong, you will die. This is the inevitable path to enter the insect nest.”

On the map, the insect nest was marked with a black skull, surrounded by black dots representing the explosion zone.

”The Insect Tribe has a species called Exploding Ants. They hide on the surface, only revealing their heads. If you step on their heads, then best of luck to you. If it’s a newly born explosion ant, stepping on it will trigger an immediate explosion. If it’s been around for more than a week, as long as you don’t lift your foot, it won’t explode, and they can survive for at most a month.”

After Old Bar’s introduction, Su Xiao felt that these exploding ants were biological landmines.

Newly born exploding ants have sharp perception. Stepping on them triggers an explosion, while those buried underground for more than a week are not as sensitive.

”Very powerful?”

”Very powerful, at least enough to blow you and me to pieces.”

Old Bar continued to describe his plan.

”When the war starts, we will go around from here.”

Old Bar pointed to a mountain range behind the Insect Tribe.

”After that, we will pass through the explosion zone, and after that, we also need to be aware of the monitoring by the Flying Mantis, a flying insect tribe that can spray strong acid, but they’re rare...”

Su Xiao raised his hand, interrupting Old Bar.

”After passing through the explosion zone, that compass is mine.”

Su Xiao’s request caused Old Bar to hesitate.

”No, we must get the Regeneration Egg first.”

”Then the cooperation ends here.”

Without a second thought, Su Xiao stood up and headed for the door. If Old Bar were to obtain the so-called Regeneration Egg, it might be too late.

”Wait.”

Old Bar pondered.

”No. Problem.”

The always silent Karlo spoke up.

Karlo’s presence was weak, and if he didn’t speak up, no one would notice him. He was like a potted plant, initially attracting a glance but soon ignored.

Su Xiao stopped at the stone house’s entrance.

”Once we pass the explosion zone, the compass is yours.”

The deal was struck; Su Xiao, along with Old Bar and Karlo, ventured into the insect nest. After passing through the explosion zone, Old Bar handed over the compass.

Despite the deal being made, Su Xiao didn’t feel much relief.

Old Bar’s concession surprised him as his bottom line was getting the compass after entering the insect nest.

That compass was essential. Without it, he couldn’t quickly find the cliff stone bridge, and without finding the cliff stone bridge, he couldn’t leave the red soil area.

”When do we set off?”

As the three negotiated, the large army outside had already set out. The war was commanded by Old Bar’s fourth son.

”We set off now.”

The route and action plan were already in place, but plans never keep up with changes, and Old Bar’s plans were mostly to adapt to situations.

”The Regeneration Egg is beside the Queen of the Insect Tribe. Remember, don’t be charmed by her.”

”Hmm?”

Su Xiao looked at Old Bar, puzzled.

”You’ll understand when you see the Queen of the Insect Tribe, that alluring feeling...”

Old Bar said no more, and the group quickly left the Yasenman Tribe.

The distance between the Yasenman Tribe and the Insect Tribe wasn’t short, but the three had their own ways of traveling.

Karlo and Old Bar each rode a creature similar to a horse, called Step Hooves, a carnivorous animal with high endurance, making it excellent for travel when tamed.

The three needed to circle around the flank of the main battlefield, entering the insect nest from behind.

After a good two-hour detour, Su Xiao arrived at a wetland, the rear of the Insect Tribe.

In the distance, the faint sounds of shouting and killing could be heard. The Yasenman Tribe and the Insect Tribe were already fighting.

A faintly sweet and fishy smell wafted over. Looking into the distance, several oval-shaped structures came into view.

These structures were entirely green, and upon closer inspection, were slightly trembling, with veins faintly visible on the surface.

There were five insect nests in total, one large and four small.

The smaller ones had a diameter of about a dozen meters, and the largest insect nest resembled a castle, over a dozen meters high, occupying an area the size of a football field.

”We need to go to the largest insect nest. The Regeneration Egg is there.”

Old Bar jumped off the Step Hooves, his gaze sweeping over the insect nests.

Each of the five insect nests had its own function, the largest being the Queen’s residence, called the Mother Nest, guarded by numerous Sasori or higher-level insects.

The remaining four nests were: Egg Conversion Pool (for hatching), Biological Detection Organization (alert), Air Defense Tower (air units), and Evolution Place (producing high-level insects).

Old Bar’s goal was to infiltrate the Mother Nest and seize the Regeneration Egg.

However, the three were still a distance from the insect nest and needed to pass through the explosion zone first.
