Reincarnation Paradise Park

Chapter 490: Chapter 62: Black Forest

Holding a piece of cloth, Su Xiao wiped the Dragon Slash clean before sheathing it, and began to wipe the bloodstains from his hands.

Umbrella Brother stood awkwardly in place; he had wanted to help, but before he even reached the boulder, the fight was over.

”Did you see that? With the same buff state, how come he’s so fierce.”

Little Confused wasn’t concerned about the corpses behind the boulder; although she was young, she knew well the cruelty within Reincarnation Paradise.

”I’m the Main Tank, Main Tank, Main Tank!”

Umbrella Brother emphasized importantly three times.

”Then why don’t you tank?”

”Tank my foot, I hadn’t even gotten there before they were all dead.”

Umbrella Brother sat back in the driver’s seat.

”Being a driver suits me more, but is he really a First Tier Contractor? I’ve seen a similar scene before, but this strength is a bit over the top.”

Su Xiao tossed some food and fresh water onto the armored vehicle. The reason he quickly killed those Contractors was not to show off his strength; those guys took out a Blue Quality rocket launcher the moment they realized bullets were ineffective, despite being heartbroken, they still intended to blow up the armored vehicle.

The armored vehicle is very important and cannot be damaged for the time being.

After this minor incident, Su Xiao confirmed one thing: Little Confused is very useful. Without her buff state, he couldn’t have killed those Contractors so quickly.

Little Confused’s value had already manifested, and Umbrella Brother, who was sitting in the main driver’s seat, was not too nervous. His real stage would be after entering the Black Forest.

The armored vehicle sped along, driving for several hours before stopping.

A forest came into view, densely packed, completely blocking out sunlight. More importantly, the trees and foliage of the forest were all pitch black.

The Black Forest had arrived, and just ahead was the entrance to the Black Forest.

”Should we drive in?”

Umbrella Brother looked at Su Xiao and the others. Although Little Confused was the leader, all actions were decided together by the group.

”No, driving in might mean death.”

Su Xiao decided to abandon the armored vehicle; earlier he had thought about driving it into the Black Forest, but now it seemed entirely inappropriate.

Just standing outside the Black Forest gave Su Xiao a feeling that it seemed like a giant beast waiting to devour any living being daring to enter.

”What about the supplies? We need a lot of food and fresh water.”

Little Confused picked up a small backpack filled with food and fresh water; her physique could only bear her own daily needs.

”I will.”

Old Bar shouldered a big bag; Umbrella Brother didn’t speak, he couldn’t bear any weight because he would be at the very front of the team, this was a Main Tank’s dignity.

Su Xiao similarly couldn’t bear any weight; if danger truly erupted, he would also be on the front line. Being hesitant and staying in the back after cooperation was not his style.

”I’ll scout.”

Umbrella Brother signaled for the others to follow; although he was a Main Tank, he carried no shield but instead wore a pair of heavy metal gauntlets. The gauntlets covered up to the forearm, with each as thick as a human torso.

Umbrella Brother had no need for a shield; the two gauntlets before him were as good as a shield, and far more flexible.

Steam rose from the gauntlets, and Umbrella Brother’s playful demeanor vanished as he cautiously led the way.

They had yet to enter the Black Forest, and Su Xiao was puzzled: why was there only one entrance here which was no different from other spots?

Upon approaching the Black Forest, Su Xiao understood why. A layer of black mist lingered at the edge of the Black Forest, not visible from afar, but apparent up close.

Picking up a branch, Su Xiao tossed it into the mist.

The branch flew through the air, and upon entering the mist, it was instantaneously decomposed, dispersing as a wisp of smoke.

Su Xiao frowned; with this black mist, the Black Forest was like a cage, allowing entry and exit only through the entrance.

Indeed, the Black Forest was a cage, imprisoning something terrifying within.

On the tenth day of the trial, which was also the last day, the black mist would dissipate, releasing what was inside.

The black mist visible now was already thin; months ago, it was a solid wall, obscuring the inside of the Black Forest.

The so-called entrance also had black mist, albeit far thinner here.

”How do we get in?”

Su Xiao looked at Old Bar, knowing the Sun Woman must have told him how to enter. Umbrella Brother and the others also had a way, but it came at too high a cost.

”One minute.”

Old Bar took a deep breath, his eyes burning a fiery red.

A wisp of flame spouted from Old Bar’s mouth, the flame white, shooting straight into the mist.

Crackling...

It sounded like firecrackers, with explosions echoing in the mist.

For a full minute, flames spewed forth, burning a hole through the thin mist at the entrance.

”Quick, it will last only a few seconds.”

Old Bar looked weary but charged ahead.

Seeing Old Bar moving forward, Su Xiao followed suit, the group rushing into the mist, officially entering the Black Forest.

Upon entering the Black Forest, the mist at the entrance roiled, gradually sealing.

Upon entering, Su Xiao realized the trees weren’t black; their darkness was due to the enshrouding mist.

Contrary to expectations of a lifeless, oppressive atmosphere, the Black Forest was full of birdsong, fragrant flowers, and crisp air with a faint sweetness.

[You have entered a dangerous area: Black Forest.]

[You are being corroded by the Source of Black Mist, suffering 1 point of True Damage per second. If corrosion exceeds ten minutes, the damage will double (e.g., after ten minutes 2 points per second, after twenty minutes 4 points per second, after thirty minutes 8 points per second, and instant death checks will occur every 5 seconds after one hour).]

Su Xiao took out a processed Original Seed, and with a slight squeeze, tiny green vines sprouted from it, clinging to his clothes, negating the corrosion from the Source of Black Mist. No wonder Old Bar claimed the Original Seed was a ticket into the Black Forest; without it, even resisting with drugs for half an hour would be fatal.

Looking at the lush greenery around, Umbrella Brother sighed, ”Is this the Black Forest? It’s different from what I thought.”

Umbrella Brother walked ahead, cautiously surveying the surroundings.

”Don’t move.”

Su Xiao gave a stern warning, slowly approaching Umbrella Brother, a dagger sliding out from his sleeve.

”Is it poisonous?”

Umbrella Brother stood still, his eyes turning sideways to see a red bug on his shoulder. It must have fallen from a tree; not only did Umbrella Brother fail to sense it, but Su Xiao only saw it with his exceptional vision.

”It should be highly poisonous.”

Su Xiao’s hand rose, sweeping through the air with an afterimage as he flicked the bug off Umbrella Brother’s shoulder with his dagger, slicing open the bug’s outer shell in the process.

Sizzle~.

Blue smoke billowed from the tip of the dagger, rapidly corroding downward. Su Xiao quickly released his grip, and before it hit the ground, the dagger was riddled with holes from corrosion.

”This...”

Umbrella Brother’s expression turned grim; the Black Forest was more dangerous than imagined.

”Let’s plan our route.”

Su Xiao paid no more attention to the bug, having experienced similar scenarios many times.

Old Bar took out a map.

”We are here.”

Old Bar pointed to a corner of the Black Forest.

”We need to cross half the Black Forest to reach there.”

Old Bar indicated the opposite direction to their location. Reaching there required crossing half the Black Forest, the route forming a semicircle.

”Too far, we only have twelve hours before having to return here. It’s impossible to reach there with Devouring Island’s size.”

Umbrella Brother looked solemn; the Original Seed he carried lasted only 24 hours.

”No need to return here; if successful, we can exit from there. Plus, don’t link the Black Forest’s size with Devouring Island; I don’t know the exact reason, but we’re sure to have enough time, as long as we don’t die on the way.”

Old Bar’s statement was astounding.

”That’s not what the Sun Woman said.”

”Ha, she only dares to hide in the Red Soil Area. Historically, we’ve Yasenman been responsible for venturing deep into the Black Forest. Where do you think this map came from? Could the Giants’ thick fingers create such a detailed map? If not for desperate times, one Original Seed would never exchange for this map. This map is my ancestors’ achievement, allegedly used by the Sun Woman to curry favor with the Giant Race; I once thought it was just a rumor.”
