This clearly shows the necessity of the four-tier rank system at the Big Camphor Tree Base.

Blind expansion only leads to accelerated collapse.

Therefore, Li Yu has always emphasized two core principles:

One, it is essential to ensure that the annual food output exceeds the annual consumption by fifty percent!

Two, it is essential to ensure that the food stored is sufficient to feed everyone in the Inner and Outer City of the base for at least five years!

These are two safety lines that are non-negotiable.

Thus, the base keeps expanding the planting area.

Due to various natural disasters, they have now increased the area of indoor cultivation to forty acres.

The annual output of vegetables and grains can reach up to 56 tons.

.......

Hosting a banquet for nearly two thousand people is no small matter.

Thus, Second Uncle spoke up: ”There are so many people, it feels quite costly.”

Li Yu hesitated for a moment before speaking: ”Actually, the food we give them isn’t much, we only credited them a few pounds before, but they need to work every day.

Just the human-powered generators, several hours each day. They generate over four hundred kilowatt-hours of electricity every day.

If it weren’t for their continuous power generation, we would have experienced a real power shortage during the snow days when the wind was not strong.

The electricity they generated is of great help to us. Second Uncle, you know the Mobile Switch Blade is useful but consumes a lot of electricity.

Originally, our photovoltaic power and the stored electricity would be enough for over a month, and with wind power, it could have lasted us a long time.

But we didn’t anticipate that the Mobile Switch Blade would consume so much electricity, and we used it too frequently.

So, I just want to say that those people in the Second Outer City, aside from the Extra Staff who support from the walls, the other Cooperative Personnel also make a significant contribution.

These contributions, a hearty meal as thanks, I think it’s only proper.”

Hearing Li Yu say this, Second Uncle also felt that Li Yu made a fair point.

He no longer retorted but asked: ”Then what kind of arrangements should be made?”

Li Yu thought for a moment and said: ”For the staple, we can use sweet potatoes, we have too many of those; additionally, we can share some vegetables with them, but most importantly, we could make a pot of meat soup for them, that should be good.

As for the First Outer City, I also need to mention something. He Chao’s subordinates like Xu Zhen, Deng Ben, and Floating Life, they have always been diligent and made notable contributions. For instance, Xu Zhen, who excellently handled the sewer drainage, and Floating Life made a significant contribution in the previous cement production.

They are among the oldest people in the First Outer City.

Currently, no one else in the base, except for He Chao and the two little girls, has been allowed inside for learning.

I feel that these three individuals, whether in terms of loyalty, ability, or other aspects, have all reached the standard to enter the Inner City.

Deng Ben’s daughter is still studying in the base.

It’s necessary to bring some people into the Inner City; otherwise, the strict control will cause them to lose motivation.”

Second Uncle, hearing about these names, nodded slightly. All three of them have families, and although not as strong in combat as old Qin and the others, they are quite capable in other fields.

Most importantly, these individuals are highly loyal to the base.

Deng Ben played a significant role in enabling Luo Tianyan previously and often moves around outside. Whenever there are new updates, we learn about them from him.

He’s sharp and grateful.

Floating Life, during the cement production, was very diligent and often accompanied He Chao and Li Yu to many places, usually bringing along Floating Life too.

Xu Zhen, who transformed and upgraded the entire sewage system in the base, is also one of the veterans in the Outer City. He’s usually very low-key, doesn’t talk much, but his work is evident to all.

In terms of loyalty, after such a long evaluation, Li Yu sees him as trustworthy enough.

Second Uncle then nodded and said: ”Alright, we can discuss during the meeting and see their opinions. You can also see what they think.”

In the base, a major meeting is held every week to discuss the development of the base, construction, and personnel arrangements.

The participants are currently the core members of the base.

Such as: Li Yu, Li Hang, Father Li, Uncle, Second Uncle, Third Uncle, Fourth Uncle, Li Tie, Li Gang, Li Yuan, Lai Dongsheng, Ding Jiu, Dapao, Yang Tianlong, Song Min, Old Lü.

Those who can attend this meeting are the core members of the base.

Of course, Grandpa and other external elders are no longer managing the affairs of the base.

The main members are all direct relatives of Li Yu, which is unquestionable since the control of the base must remain in their hands.

Li Yu nodded in response: ”Okay, I’ll bring it up with everyone then.”

The two then discussed some more matters before leaving separately.

After Li Yu finished eating and saw that it was already dark, he was about to leave the dining room and go back to his room.

Then he saw Old Lü hurrying towards him.

”Director Li, your Third Uncle says there’s something he wants you to come over for,” Old Lü said.
