Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 781: Chapter 593: Wind and Snow, Swaying in the Air (5/7)

To be able to see more clearly, Ai Shan did not wear a hat, allowing the black snow to fall directly onto his face.

The temperature of his skin slowly melted the black snow.

Black acid rain water flowed into the corners of his mouth, and though he kept his mouth tightly shut, water still managed to seep in.

It was bitter, astringent, icy, and carried an indescribable foul smell.

Ai Shan was thin and light.

Hanging on the rope, he swayed in the wind like a feather in the air.

The rope thrown from the opposite building snagged at a spot, occasionally making noises due to Ai Shan’s movements.

These sounds gave a constant impression that it might snap at any moment.

Ai Shan, suspended mid-air, surrounded by darkness, with several meters above the ground below, and the relentless roars of zombies, trembled throughout his body.

It’s a sin.

Ai Shan couldn’t help but wail internally.

The wind swung the rope side to side, and Ai Shan’s body swayed along with it.

But he had no way to retreat now; he kept moving his hands and feet, continuing to crawl toward the opposite side.

The outside was covered with heavy snow, and the temperature dropped to several degrees below zero.

He had to get across quickly; if he stayed mid-air too long, not to mention his physical strength couldn’t support him for much longer, the icy snow could freeze his limbs. By then, even if he wanted to crawl across, there would be no chance.

The loss of body heat was rapid, and with it went his physical strength even faster.

Now, he had crawled ten meters; only ten meters left before he could get across.

Ai Shan gritted his teeth, not stopping, and once again slid his hands forward.

Little by little.

The rope was very thin, making it hard to grasp. Even though he wore gloves and used a pillow as a cushion, it still painfully squeezed his hands.

Soon, he was only 5 meters away from the window on the opposite side.

Bang—

His whole body suddenly dropped half a meter.

”Ah!” he couldn’t help but cry out softly.

At the window of the building opposite, the rope that was originally stuck, now due to Ai Shan’s weight and his movements, slipped down a notch.

Had an object not been tied to the rope, Ai Shan might have fallen off at that moment.

Although it gave him a scare, the rope dropping half a meter allowed him to slide downward.

Under the influence of gravity, he slid directly toward the window on the other side.

Bang—

He collided with the glass of the window opposite.

The impact made him slightly dizzy.

After pausing for two seconds, he exerted strength in his waist, turned his body, and directly grabbed the aluminum of the window with his right hand.

The pillow fell straight down.

Ai Shan didn’t bother about it; his other hand also grabbed onto the aluminum.

His feet, previously resting on the rope, moved to the front of his chest.

He slowly lowered them.

With force in his hands, he climbed onto the window, pushed up with his arms and flipped inside.

Huff huff huff—

He gasped heavily, damn it, finally made it.

On Lu Kuan’s side, seeing the door behind him dented in several places, and several of the locks broken,

the door might not hold much longer.

He then took a flashlight and waved it towards Ai Shan.

He didn’t dare to shout loudly.

Ai Shan also saw the shaking light on the opposite side, gathered his energy and stood up, his calves trembling. After standing up, he unzipped and took out a flashlight from his pocket—this was his treasure.

The light illuminated around, no zombies in sight; it was an office, likely a private room for a senior executive, with the door still closed.

Ai Shan relaxed slightly and then walked towards the window.

Seeing the rope hooked on the window, cold sweat ran down his back in fear.

That object was narrowly caught on the hook beneath the aluminum.

Only three centimeters short, the hook almost failed.

Ai Shan picked up the rope, looked around the office for heavier objects.

Eventually, his eyes settled on a steel bookshelf, which looked quite heavy.

He pulled the rope and walked a few steps, the rope taut from the other end.

The length needed to be a bit longer to wrap around the bookshelf, so he held the rope and signaled to Lu Kuan.

Lu Kuan, seeing him hold the rope, instantly understood his intention.

”Old Huang, loosen the rope a bit, it’s not long enough on that side,” he said.

Old Huang, upon hearing this, immediately ran to loosen the rope tied around the supporting pillar a bit.

Ai Shan on the other side tried to pull the rope and found it loosened. He then directly grabbed the rope, wrapped it around the bookshelf several times.

After tying it, he pulled on the rope to test if the bookshelf could be moved.

The bookshelf was heavy; even using all his strength, he couldn’t move it.

He then walked to the window, picked up his flashlight, and shook it left and right three times.

This was the pre-agreed signal.

Tying it well meant it was ready to cross.

Lu Kuan, seeing Ai Shan shaking his flashlight and giving a thumbs-up, was thrilled.

”Ai Shan’s side is all set, we’re going over now, who’s next?” Lu Kuan looked at the others behind him.

The young man who originally volunteered to stay was now eager to try, having seen the door behind him wouldn’t hold much longer.

The sooner they got across, the safer it would be.

Lu Kuan naturally noticed his expression, recalling his earlier offer to stay behind. Seeing that Ai Shan had fixed everything and their door also wouldn’t last much longer, he wanted to be the next one to cross.
